DUST 514: The King Is Dead And Our Princes Have Fallen
I was given this shocking information by a trusted friend and i was stunned to silence for the first time in DUST514, as we all know CCP has cancelled WOD and had to make some hard choices for lay offs and redundancies, well i hear you ask what has this got to do with DUST 514, WE have lost 2 of the most important figures in DUST514 CCP SABERWING and CCP ETERNE. this comes as a shock to all as we have only just found out that DUST514 is soon to be cut as well leaving the community on the back foot yet again, with no point of contact for the CPM0 and the CPM1 to express our concerns and suggestions further widening the gap between CCP and our community. With CCP SABERWING having been shown the door is there now really a need for for the CPM ?
My most heart felt sympathies to everyone effected by these layoffs CPP SaberWing, CCP Eterne you have gained the respect of our community . I wish the pair of you all the best in the future and I WILL buy you guys a beer !

I see this as devastating news. The loss of a fair minded and responsive community representative who continuously demonstrated his commitment to the link between CCP and us is a real blow to DUST.
How can we trust CCP will look after us after the loss of PS3 support and now the sudden loss of our link to them? I am personally outraged at the way CCP treated him.

THEN I will voice my opinion. I feel like Sabrewing was literally just hired on too :/ Either way, Rattai is doing a great job in speaking directly to us instead of through another person, which is probably the first time in the history of Dust that we have someone doing that.
I guess we'll have to go pick on Logibro now...seeing as we don't have our Socksfour and Chickenwing anymore.

Guys, I urge you to wait until you can hear more from CCP this coming week, there is some patently false information included in this video. There is most certainly community staff and devs at CCP for CPM1 to work with, this idea that CCP has left the community with nobody just isn't true. It's sad that Saberwing and Eterne as gone, but others will be stepping up and the work on both Dust and Legion will continue. |

Work on Dust is basically work on Legion to begin with, so it's incredibly smoke and mirrors of you to make comments suggesting Dust is receiving any sort of real attention outside of being a alpha testing lobby shooter for Legion.
Actually, as CPM, tell me, what is Dust's game genre? Is it still an RTSFPSMMO like it was last year? Or can we finally just say it's a lobby shooter with a cool game mode called planetary conquest.

Id like to confirm that Hans has known for some time and told Bamm recently - he also forbade Bam to release this info to the community therefore assuming control of Bamms youtube channel indirectly.
Bam and i were speaking this morning and agreed this needs to be heard after Sabrewing told me directly and confirmed he was okay for Bamm and i to do a video on this topic.
CPM0 is not there to hide information from the community its supposed to represent. Its not there to decide when information can be released as it suits CCP and not the community.

Wow, it was so insensitive of Hans to suggest people shouldn't start shouting about Saberwing getting fired. Man, losing my job would be made so much better by everyone shouting about it ASAP before I or my employer are okay with telling people.
Hans must clearly be a complete sycophant for asking someone to be sensitive about someone losing their job. That's just the kind of evil corporate thing CCP would do for no reason, clearly he did it so he could get a job at CCP.
This 'us vs them' mentality you're suggesting here is sickening, Pyrex. "whose side are you on?" Really? What side would he be on? Did he do this out of his own self-interest?
A significant member of the community losing their job. Is it wrong to be sensitive about that?

I'm aware of their positions within the company. CCP employees are often referred to as "devs" in short, regardless of their actual position in the company. You may note the number of "dev blogs" posted by CCP employees who do not do programming or graphics work.
I'd contest your notion that they had no real impact on the game. Community relations has a huge impact on developer prioritization and the quality of the end product. And Eterne was a lore god, who contributed a lot to creating the "world" the game is set in.

Enough bullshit Pyrex. I've had it with your ******** propaganda.
I didn't forbid anyone from posting anything. Actually, I encouraged BAMM to post the information instead of teasing the community with it a he was doing in the Biomassed podcast Skype channel. He was being a jerk and taunting players with "I know something you don't know" and my initial response (with witnesses) was for him to just go and tell people instead of playing stupid "I KNOW SEKRETZ GUYS" games.
After much discussion with BAMM, we agreed that it would be best for CCP to post this themselves, and BAMM agreed to do so. I never once told him that he wasn't allowed to use a youtube video, I said it wasn't very classy to use youtube and draw attention to his channel when he could have just gone THAT MOMENT (not waiting, not hiding anything) and posting this information on the channel. If BAMM wanted to get the information out, he could have done so yesterday, I certainly wasn't trying to stop him. I just thought it was better for CCP to have the courage to announce this stuff instead of leaving it up to the community to deal with themslves, and its unfortunate that they once again are sitting around instead of communicating with players.
I know you don't like me Pyrex, but twisting this into a monster of a lie isn't going to accomplish anything here. The transition from "BAMM, stop teasing the public and share the info if you're going to" into "BAMM don't release important information" is completely inside your (rather powerful) imagination. |

Many games mostly RTS and PVP focused MMO games has been doing that for over a decade. PS1 had that since 10+ years. But not many FPS games besides Ps2 , Heroes and Generals, WW2 online, and a few others didn't really have much territory control that much is true though . Either way PC still had many problems with it ; so it doesn't seem to matter much in the end .

All I'm expecting them to post is that there will be community management in place to work with the CPM1 on Dust and Legion. Doesn't have to be a bunch of corporate speak, those are simple facts (we've already met with Saberwing's replacement) and without posting the news upfront like the should be doing, they've left if up to asshats in the community to run around screaming "THE COMMUNITY IS SCREWED WE'RE ABANDONED". |

CPM0 is not there to hide information from the community its supposed to represent. Its not there to decide when information can be released as it suits CCP and not the community. Frankly you are a disgrace to this game and have shown total disrespect to the community you were supposed to represent and i would ask one thing, whose side are you on? feels like you are constantly angling for a CCP job Hans.
For your information, Hans constantly urged BAMM to simply share the information and not 'angle for the exclusive' on his Youtube Broadcast.
BAMM spent the better half of a day trying to lord the information over many people in Skype, with Hans personally urging him to 'stop being a **** and share the information".
In contrast, your 18 minute rant makes BAMM's expose at least look slightly better as he kept it relatively brief.
Right now, the need for a CPM is even more pressing. CCP still have community representatives, and though what's happened is a terrible tragedy, it doesn't mean that we roll back the entire clock to having zero community representation.
Keeping this information quiet was not about 'hiding' anything, it was about those who respected Saberwing's, Eterne's and the rest of the team that was laid offs privacy about outing this information in their own time.

Obviously all my o7's go to all the bros who got cut. It sucks big time to lose your job through no fault of your own, not just for you but for your coworkers and, in several CCP cases, your players who liked and respected you as a dev.
But... Saberwing? Seriously?
If there was one man at CCP who I thought had done such an amazing job as to be last on the list to be laid off, it was Saberwing. How CCP decided he was redundant or unnecessary is completely beyond me. The announcement of Project Legion was the best news I'd heard for the future of this game... this is right up there with the worst.
I completely get wanting to respect the guy and keep it quiet until he was ready to say so, but like it or not it's out now, and people are hearing. I still have the utmost respect for Saberwing... who I respect a little less now is CCP for somehow deciding it was a good idea to let him go.
Fly safe, Shahin. You may not be here for us anymore, but I think I speak for most if not all of the Dust community when I say we're still here for you. o7
Z's progression is the only thing about Legion that gives me doubts. The rest has me totally stoked!

CCP Saberwing let go? ... He was pretty much the only person who instilled any amount of faith in CCP as a company for me. To see him let go as a 'removal of redundancies' all for them to bring in new community reps... wow that really stings.
I'm gonna have to sit down and really reflect on whether or not its worth continuing to support CCP at all as a company... a bunch of dedicated developers led by some of the worst upper management I have seen except for the likes of Ubisoft and EA. I may have to reconsider my subscription to EVE...
Best of luck Saberwing... consider it a blessing, imo. |

There is most certainly community staff and devs at CCP for CPM1 to work with, this idea that CCP has left the community with nobody just isn't true. It's sad that Saberwing and Eterne as gone, but others will be stepping up and the work on both Dust and Legion will continue. "Keep calm, they will attempt to save their asses this week from looking bad." Looking forward to that blue tag post. I expect nothing but the best corporate speak and misdirection.
Here's your blue tagged post, and no misdirection here at all.
The fact of the matter is, we're not going to go out with a megaphone and start screaming the names of people who were let go out of both personal and professional courtesy for those involved. Feel free to say what you will about professional and personal courtesy, but extremely hard decisions had to be made over the last week and on a personal note, I'm completely devastated that two fantastic members of the Community Team, and two great friends and colleagues were let go.
I wish both CCP Eterne and CCP Saberwing all the best for the future, and have no doubt in my mind that these two extremely talented guys will land firmly on their feet.
Similarly, the CPM are also not going to start screaming names of people who were let go. The CPM is not, and never will be, a source of gossip for the community. Anyone who thinks so, can strip that mentality out of their heads. It's not going to happen.
It's very true that the CPM have known about this since Friday (June 6), when I had a meeting with them at 20:00 UTC to discuss what has happened. They've acted extremely professionally over this, and have respected the fact that there are people behind these avatars, who've had their livelihoods and careers affected.
I'd like to personally thank the CPM for the manner in which they've handled this news, for their display of professionalism and integrity in absorbing and dealing with this information.
In the end, rest assured that development of DUST 514 and work on Project Legion remains unchanged, and will progress uninterrupted.
In the same respect, the CPM will continue to function. CCP Logibro has been, and will continue to remain, the CPM Coordinator. This has been his role since he came to CCP, and will continue to be his role moving forward. He has done, and will continue to own the CPM project for as long as I remain Community Manager with CCP.
The operation of, and future plans for the CPM will not be affected. If anything, going forward I'll be looking toward assisting CCP Logibro in pushing the CPM into the same, far more active role with DUST development that the CSM holds with EVE development.
I do not believe that there is compromise when it comes to using the CPM's knowledge and voice to assist us. The CSM is in it's 9th term now, and there are a lot of lessons that have already been learned in the previous 8 terms that can be carried over into the operation of the CPM.
On a note more concerning structure, the Community Team here at CCP has now been unified, which puts us in a position where all members of the team will now be working on community projects for DUST 514, Project Legion, EVE: Valkyrie and EVE Online going forward.
The community team is now made up of:
CCP Falcon CCP Frame CCP Gargant CCP Guard CCP Leeloo CCP Logibro CCP Phantom
I'm in the position where I hold the role of Community Manager, which will include serving as Community Manager for DUST 514 at the very least temporarily until we sit down and redefine people's roles to cover everything that needs to be considered.
Myself and the entire roster of the community team are seasoned veterans of New Eden, and we're on hand to make sure that you guys get the best experience possible. It's going to take us a little time to process all this, get over the fact that we've had to watch two really good friends and outstanding colleagues be let go, but I'm very confident that the team will pull together and deliver once we square things away.
The reason that this message didn't come sooner is simple - we were dealing with some incredibly bad news and had to sit down and assess the situation before deciding how to move forward. We're human, just like you guys. With that in mind, my attitude may seem a bit short in this post, for that I apologize, I'm usually incredibly direct in the way I address people, and to add to that, it's been a very upsetting week for a lot of us here at CCP.
In the same respect, I'm not going to tolerate rumor milling and the posting of blatant garbage regarding the CPM, or any of my friends and colleagues, including CCP staff and members of the Community. Anyone who wants to rumor mill and/or post garbage will be on the receiving end of a long summer vacation from the forums.
On that note, I'll extend the same offer I do to the EVE Community, because you guys are equally as important to the future of New Eden:
If you have concerns, issues, or feel like you'd like clarification, either on the forums or in private, either feel free to EVEmail my Dev character, catch me on twitter at @CCP_Falcon or catch me here on the forums, and I'm more than happy to talk.
Cheers,

Thanks for the info Falcon. I know there's always a method to CCP's madness, it's just a little frustrating to not always know what that method is. The fact that you're unifying the community team tells me that you're pushing more for the unification of your games, which is great news and something I've long advocated prioritizing as it is your main selling point for Dust/Legion. I only regret that such great people like Saberwing, who was arguably the overall favorite among the community, couldn't have been kept on to continue their awesome work.
Z's progression is the only thing about Legion that gives me doubts. The rest has me totally stoked!

Falcon,
First, I appreciate the response and the measured tone. I'm sorry things got to the point where you had step in on this but you posting is probably one of the best things at this point.
There are a lot of folks in the community that are concerned, very understandably, about the games and the social community that sprung up around CCP over the last 10 years. That's not just the Dust side...it's the Eve side as well. This community is ultimately what keeps people with you and the connective tissue to those social connections was often guys like Eterne and Saberwing.
At the bottom line, I wish CCP Saberwing and CCP Eterne the absolute best. There were an asset to the CCP and the community and seemed like genuinely excellent guys.

You can accuse of m@@hattery but when I hear statements such as
- Seasoned veteran of EVE
- the same courtesy I extend to EVE players
- redefining roles
The implicit message I am getting that is subtly hidden and tucked away is this:
"We're making the staff of a more EVE likened mindset which, even though none of us are Dust514 veterans but only casually play the game we will make game updates and patches that could be for the better or worse because we are basing it on what we feel is best without input from an actual veteran with feedback based on the forums that we may or may not heed".
And that I feel, as horrible as I make it sound seems to be the implicit situation Dust players are going to be left standing with. If someone on the development team played Dust for over a year you wouldn't hear them say "I'm an EVE vet" but rather something I would say: "I've played both Dust and EVE for over a year". That would be a more resounding and reassuring statement and not something that teeters on making it appear confidence instilling when it really isn't.
I write a lot for a living and corporate letters as well and I feel sometimes its better to not mince words and give illusions of what's not there. Dust's basic imperfections were the game imbalances and overall matchmaking AI. If you asked the playerbase they may even agree that they'd prefer resources allocated towards hotfixes, glitches and game balancing vs. content creation. Not like I'm saying you guy's aren't doing that but the presentation of how you say things and what's occurring as far as the layoff of people is not confidence instilling at all.
Then again I could've been the only one to picked up on this. To somewhat paraphrase a line from LoTR's movie that I shall now mutilate for use: "I don't doubt your heart in the matter when it comes to Dust, just the overall ability to deliver on it". |

CCP Mimic isn't part of the Community Team, she works elsewhere in the company, but lends the team a LOT of help when she's not too busy.
Likewise, CCP Manifest is not part of the Community Team. He's our Senior PR guy, but sometimes works alongside the Community team when needed.
Hope this clarifies the situation.

New Eden does not equal EVE. New Eden consists of all our products that are currently playable.
You can read between the lines as much as you like, but when it boils down to it, it's in our best interests to have the communities of both DUST 514 and EVE in a healthy state.

Overall; I do feel your video is what you claim it to be, your feelings and reaction and the raw information with a little speculation as possible. I know its not nice to hear such things; its even more worrisome to throw it out to the public in a malformed manner where nobody wins from it. The community team is now made up of: CCP Falcon CCP Frame CCP Gargant CCP Guard CCP Leeloo CCP Logibro CCP Phantom I'm in the position where I hold the role of Community Manager, which will include serving as Community Manager for DUST 514 at the very least temporarily until we sit down and redefine people's roles to cover everything that needs to be considered. On that note, I'll extend the same offer I do to the EVE Community, because you guys are equally as important to the future of New Eden: If you have concerns, issues, or feel like you'd like clarification, either on the forums or in private, either feel free to EVEmail my Dev character, catch me on twitter at @CCP_Falcon or catch me here on the forums, and I'm more than happy to talk. Cheers, - F Becasue we can trust your lying ass when it comes to people loosing their jobs. Lets ask the WoD team, who you Verified were not loosing their jobs to both their families, them and the community at large 2 ******* days before CCP announced they were terminated.

Really... all I read these posts from Falcon is that "We're offloading the community representation of Dust 514/Legion to the Eve team, where they can put in whatever 'extra time' they have to Dust."
Its essentially an admission that Dust is dead and Legion (if its greenlit) will not be a standalone game, but more of a 'sidebar action game' for their more important player base set, their EVE subscribers. It would be foolish for anyone to expect that this does not mean significantly diminished player-dev interaction for CCPs non-Eve: Online games. It doesn't surprise me that this is happening for Valkyrie... consider their lack of PC support for that game will result in a player base about as large as Dust will have when it releases, but it does give a surprising admission to what they expect for Legion imo.
i can't say I'm surprised or even all that upset about it though, it was pretty much what we were all thinking, its just an official announcement to that effect. |

Yep. I'm pretty sure it's already been mentioned as 'Bravo' rather than 'Beta' so there goes the Greek alphabet theory.

i admit to not handling the information in the most tactful way as i was and still am epicly pissed when i was told and i had made this video with the permission of SaberWing, ignore the last bit of it as that was an editing fail on my part there was meant to be a whole lot more said by me stuck in there but i forgot to crop it in and just went straight for the render. I was in discussions with hans for several hours where he pointed out that perhaps a video would not have been the best way to tell the community and that perhaps a post on the forum would have been the better option, but as i see it info is info no matter the medium if this was a post it still would have caused this fire storm of snowflakes. hans told me not to post anything for 24 hours so CCP could make this announcement and prep for damage control this info would cause, sadly the timer ran out and still no post from CCP, so i regrettably posted this video to inform the community. I understand that I may have most likely lost the respect of many if not all of you my fellow mercs and for what its worth I apologise for my actions. I did no intend to create this fluster cluck and i did not do it for personal gain, this is information that should have been freely available on this forum and I felt I had to say or do something.
I'm really not surprised to see even more lies out of Pyrex, its his modus operandi - but I didn't expect them from you as well. Our conversation took place yesterday at 6pm Pacific time, and you posted this video roughly 16 hours later. But that's besides the point, you gave me your word that you'd let Falcon make the statement he had to make in this thread, before jumping the gun. We both agreed that it was better that CCP break the news and explain rather than you or Pyrex trying to play Mr. Breaking News. Regardless of the fact that you didn't wait even a full day before your post, there was no "24 hour" time limit discussed anyways. It's not my job to give permission or not, this was always CCP's news, not mine, not yours. All I ever asked was for you to be respectful to those involved by allowing our contacts in community team (Falcon and Logibro) make their announcement. You agreed to this, and than broke that trust. I'm saddened and disappointed, even moreso now that you're lying about the circumstances just to defend your mistake. I at least appreciate your apology on that front, for what its worth. |

Wow. This thread was a rollercoaster. First time I've read every post in the thread word for word.
Let me say that I wish Saberwing and Eterne the best. I always appreciated Saberwing's presence on the forums. He was one of us and his enthusiasm was infectious. I wish both gentlemen the best and I thank them for their contributions. Both performed well at their duties and surely will be missed.
Every relationship, no matter what it is, has its bumps in the road. It's how we proceed forward that defines us.
Thank you CCP Falcon for displaying tact in your post and for clearing things up for the community.
Though we may have different viewpoints, backgrounds and ideas, one thing remains surely remains. That we all want Dust to succeed. Some things get lost in translation, but we can set aside these differences and contribute positively to help the absolute vision of Dust come into fruition.

Thank you so much for this, very eloquently stated and I agree completely. My own frustration with this situation stems mainly from the fact that I see so much work to do ahead, and know that life is going to go on for both Dust and Legion regardless of the setbacks. And regardless of the false claims that there's no support for the community or the CPM moving forward. My tolerance for misinformation is low, and I will always aggressively defend the truth - but it all comes from a passion for the game and this community.
You're also absolutely right that any personal friction between me and BAMM also comes from that same passion for the game and community. BAMM's sadness and anger in the video is real, and I applaud his willingness to be vulnerable like that, even if we have our differences of opinion surrounding the circumstances. I'm always going to value his contributions and I hope (and know) he's going to be sticking around like the rest of us to continue that good work.
Disputes are common in periods of mourning, and I think its fair to say that's everyone's frame of mind right now and we're all suffering that burden. I've spoken with BAMM privately again and let him know I'm not out to burn any bridges or hold grudges, and I understand that there wasn't any malice or disrespect intended in the way this was handled. The feeling is mutual, of course.
I want to also thank CCP Falcon for stopping by and for his detailed explanation of the circumstances, this was always my goal throughout these events - even when arguing with BAMM. It's vital for the community to fully understand the transition inside CCP as soon as possible, preferably straight from the source and free from hyperbole. Now that its done and out in the open, I've no more to say about the issue. It's time to just let this heal and to get back to working on improving Dust.

I'm glad you guys were able to straighten things out amongst each other. And its nice to read that your understanding of the core is there. That's the kind of stuff we expect from our CPMs. Really appreciate that.
And Bamm, hey man, my viewing on you hasn't changed. You contribute some great things to the community and I look forward to more of your videos.
I honestly feel better about this whole situation. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief.
The end result to this is much better than the beginning and I'm proud to be a part of this community.

I did not see eye to eye with Saberwing mainly on the issue of him saying it was racist to say that the Dust 514 team was bad at codding, but I feel sorry that that he and others lost their jobs, because that hurts them and their family and that is never a good thing. Never ceases to amaze me at just how good you are at getting the community riled up about something that doesn't exist. It's kind of sad that propaganda only works on the gullible but since I'm ousting a portion of the community itself, let me give you a sneak peek at something the "Evil Fortress of Candidate Collusion" has been working on for the past few days.
Not a damn thing.
Now, back to you, since this is turning out to as ridiculous as a men's body wash commercial.
Pyrex, to me, you're like Snopes. A lot of people think you're a reliable source of information for all the wrong reasons. No-one investigates the information you provide, they just take it as fact. When in reality, like Snopes, you:
a) Don't provide reference material to any of the claims you make b) Have a reputation for being a reliable source of information, despite the only justifiable reasoning for that being a something you did years ago, and because you said so. (videos you made back in the day before you donned the title "Sir Tin Foil") c) Are rather hypocritical, which anyone can see if they just read between the lines (listen to one of your videos for five minutes and then actually play with you (Prototype suits in Pubs, for instance)) d) Insanely bias, despite many attempts at trying to pass off that you're not.
On the other hand, I can't help but admire the way you take something that no-one can feasibly investigate and then turn it into something fishy. For instance "confirming that Hans has known for a long time and told BAMM". How can you confirm that, exactly? Are you psychic? Did you bug one of their computers? Did you grab a Twitch Livestream Code and use it without their knowing? How on -EARTH- can confirm this information at all? To which I can only assume that your lack of responding to this thread there-in afterward is a sure sign that you weren't ready to deal with the backlash of being called out on your BS despite -KNOWING- it was BS.
And then you go on to say that he "he also forbade Bam to release this info to the community therefore assuming control of Bamms youtube channel indirectly". How can you make this claim? What evidence do you have that it happened other than "Pyrex said so"? You know what I see when I look at that post? Just another Youtuber getting bent out of shape over a competitor releasing the information before you did - which doesn't necessarily make you right it just means that you, like him, are just as egotistical in trying to turn something rather heartbreaking into a publicity stunt.
Which is to say that it's all you ever do in the first place, using the bullet points I demonstrated earlier. I swear, if your followers had the sense to look at some of the wording you use in your arguments and actually think two steps ahead, considering whether there's any validity to your claims instead of just blindly believing in it all, you'd be the only person in the community that feels the way you do about 90% of the conspiracy theories you have.
Not that I honestly think you're going to read this since you haven't even taken the time to respond to any of the other comments aimed at your little circus act. So, I'mma go have a beer and stick my head in the sand since it works so well for you (albeit, generally helps to see when you're about to get hit from behind).

Drama aside, o7 to Saberwing and all of the axed employees. I thank you all for the work you have done, and wish you all the best of luck moving towards. To CCP falcon, I saw you posted the current community team, for Dust (and legion? I'm not really sure). My question is, how many of them regularly look through the forums, and post. I'm not talking about official, drawn out posts, but short, unofficial posts in which they answer questions we ask, or just to post something funny. And to the CPM0s, it seems like you guys are just random players. I've seen altim more than I've seen most of you in game, and on the forums (and I've only seen altim twice in game...) so I don't put any more stock in your statements than I do anyone else's.
P.S. I'm delusional right now...

Hey CCP can you guys do anything except lie??? This is why no one trusts anything you guys say because 95% of it is a lie or misdirection. Yet you guys seem to be really damn good at trying to sell Omega Boosters and Aur.
I did not see eye to eye with Saberwing mainly on the issue of him saying it was racist to say that the Dust 514 team was bad at codding, but I feel sorry that that he and others lost their jobs, because that hurts them and their family and that is never a good thing. I wish those laid off nothing but the best and hopefully they can find work at a better managed company.

Lore is part of game development. All concepts, working or otherwise, are based around the lore. Community Manager acquires useful information and good feedback, filters bad feedback, and does everything to keep community happy.
Both are incredibly important to the development of a game. |

Thing is, it is probably a little more than you might think - even if they are not posting in a lot of threads, many devs do read and interact.
Just want to echo the sentiments here that we are sorry to see our good friends go, but that we can't comment on personnel matters, so you might not get us weighing in on specifics as much as you might like.

T'is is a damn shame, all the best to the both of them. While ccp may think their positions have become redundant somewhere i think DUST514 as it stands and possibly legion would have been better of with Saberwin in it's ranks.
Although many dev's read and take note of a lot of the forum post's it's the actual interaction and the "popping-his-head-in" threads that made Saberwing a good asset i think. Also the interviews he wanted to set up were just good community interaction. Allround very engaging and nice guy.
While they are not dev's as you say, i think their role was a very important one and why upper management thought this was a good idea is beyond me.
With that said good luck to those that get their workload thrown on their desk.

After what happened at fanfest my first thought was I wished this had been CCP ROUGE, sorry it's just the truth about how I felt. How the player base was treated with the keynote(on purpose and with disregard and malice) makes it no surprise that something would go down this way again. You tubers shouldn't be putting this stuff out(though they are a type of media and may feel responsible to report the facts) and we actually like to hear peoples honest reaction and over reactions, that's real, but a CPM shouldn't have to hold something back forever either, hence it's probably best that Bamm went ahead and put it out, next time just release the info before it becomes public knowledge CCP. Bad news is better when treated with honesty and disclosure, you wanted to create a community, and you did, and look how much we care. Why weren't you honest and overflowing with reasons at the Rouge wedding? Why weren't you here? I still don't know what your future plans are for DUST(how long are you going to TRY and keep it around and so on, what are you trying to carry over to Project Legion, will district control crossover, ect and ect). Look don't create a community and then try and conceal your real plans and goals from it. Guys just had to be let go, tell us, or let the CPMs relate it to us or just shut down all communication to us for good and let us create our own forums and community ourself, where honest thoughts, opinions, and gossip can flourish even if it ain't true. We all would have been better to have never got involved in this game than to be treated the way we were and fanfest. Whoever thought up that debacle should be the one who loses their job first in my opinion(and I know there are a whole lot of people who agree with me). See I'm being up front(American phrase meaning purposely truthful) about what I'm thinking and feeling and people might not like it but no ones gonna think I'm a coward or dishonest about it, And if my opinion changes I'll try and be upfront about it then, see how that works, not hard just real. I don't have all the answers and I can live with being wrong or too honest and so can you guys. That's called a close knit community and that's GOOD for business not back stabbing and playing political scheming. But whatever, I plan on playing this game until the server gets shut down because I have made friends and a brotherhood with fellow players. This game may not matter to you guys anymore(I honestly don't know and can't tell) but you can't make it not matter to me. That's my big protest, I'll care if I want too, and you can't turn that off or make me buy Aurum to make care more or less. I already have an Omega booster for that and it runs out when I say so and you can't Nerf it either!

My subscriptions have run out on my two EVE toons (well, one has a little time left) and I could care less about what happens with my Dust ones.
Despite new people taking over for the community team, this just seems like an endless cycle with CCP. Step 1 - Announce hiring of Person X for game Step 2 - Boldly declare a shift in vision/teams around this person Step 3 - Hype Step 4 - Watch it make no difference to community Step 5 - Layoff parts of old team Step 6 - Announce hiring of Person Y (or reallocation of resources)
It has been claimed time and time again by former employees that management cannot sustain vision and that the company constantly tries to reinvent the wheel to make it seem like they are doing something.

It has been claimed time and time again by former employees that management cannot sustain vision and that the company constantly tries to reinvent the wheel to make it seem like they are doing something. yeah, i'm looking at ps4 for warthunder and that bungie title, then eternal crusade next year for the MAG but bigger experience. valkyrie can smoke a ****. The Community team just left it as some random disappearance and if we never noticed, you would of never told us? There is a reason there is a massive lack of Trust with a majority of CCP Shanghai employee's and almost anything they say.

CCP Falcon wrote:Cyrius Li-Moody wrote:Heinrich Jagerblitzen wrote:Guys, I urge you to wait until you can hear more from CCP this coming week, there is some patently false information included in this video. Cheers, - F

As for the whole way the news broke lol - maybe I missed it though I read every post but - CCP don't tell only CPM this news, tell us all directly.....or CPM, why would you tell non-CPM? Too many comms channels with bits and pieces flying around. Yeah, why did anybody know about this before CCP made it public knowledge? They shouldn't be relating info to the CPM like this unless they want us to know. It puts the CPM in a bad spot to have to constantly conceal news like this. Yes developement issues and stuff like that needs to stay on the down low, but a presser(press release) on this was forth coming. Look is the CPM and intermediary between us and them or not?! Is it only there so CCP can get info from the community and not the other way around(maybe I'm in the dark here, but If I am I ain't the only one)? Pyrex's vid got the point about the importance of communication between management and consumer and Hans got it right about not overreacting and patience and Bamm got it right about free press and telling what your really feeling, and CCP just got it wrong again by letting stuff come out like this and not being more open with it's consumer base. AND IF I'M ELECTED TO THE CPM1 I PROMISE TO CLEAN UP THE CORRUPTION IN THE SENATE(AND PROTO STOMPING, TEA BAGGING, REDLINE RAILGUNNING, GAME LAG, AND TANKSPAMS) OH WAIT I'M NOT RUNNING, YES, THANK GOODNESS!

No No they call this "Advanced Lighting Effects"
Where CCP Shanghai spends a year developing Ridley Scott Worthy Lens flares...
But Builds the WORSE Net Code, Hit Detection Mechanics, Physics, Aim Mechanics, Collision Mechanics, Map Scale and flow, Non Sticky Terrain, 16vs16 player counts...
BUT THEY HAVE LIGHTING EFFECTS AMAGAD.
Seriosuly i hope they havent TOUCHED the FCKING LIGHTING.
Worry about your Damn Core Game mechanics. And HOW CCP Can PUSH the envelope of Next level performance and efficiency in the core mechanics Of Legion..
NOT WHAT KIND OF FANCY LIGHT EFFECTS THEY CAN MAKE IN A FPS.
Seriously CCP Eat your freaking Vegetables First this time... Not a Year After you launch your Beta.
This should be all CCP is thinking of... How can we build our core mechanics the best, have our game perform the best to all of CCP's knowledge... Have the most players, The biggest maps, Etc...
Smoke and Mirrors 514 i hope is behind us. |

Exactly. No words for this behavior by CCP. There's a reason they didn't reveal Legion until fanfest instead of 6 months before. Their greed came before our need to know basis.
