When: March 26 GÇô April 9 from downtime to downtime Objective: During the event period, players must achieve kills using any sidearm (including Nova Knives) while using any type of dropsuit. Rewards: For each kill with a sidearm player characters will receive 1000 skill points, capped at 750,000. Additional event info All rewards are on a per character basis Maximum skill point reward (infantry kills only) capped at 750,000 skill points per character This event objective can be played in conjunction with The Commando Contingency, however, the maximum 750,000 skill point cap per character is the combined cap for both events Commando Contingency In celebration of the new dropsuits introduced with Uprising 1.8 update, we are hosting an event to promote the Commando dropsuits! When: March 26 GÇô April 9 from downtime to downtime Objective 1: During the event period, players must achieve kills while using any type of commando dropsuits. Rewards: For each kill while using a commando dropsuit a player character will receive 1000 skill points and a prototype AUR dropsuit of the type used. Additional event info All rewards are on a per character basis Maximum skill point reward (infantry kills only) capped at 750,000 skill points per character Maximum number of AUR prototype Commando dropsuits reward per character is 400 (for all types) Any weapon (including sidearms) is eligible This event objective can be played in conjunction with Sidearm Showdown, however, the maximum 750,000 skill point cap per character is the combined cap for both events Objective 2: During the event period players will receive ISK rewards for killing Commando dropsuits. Rewards: Any player character killing a Commando dropsuit during this event will receive an ISK bounty based on the type of commando dropsuit. Bounty is as follows: Militia GÇô 2000 ISK Standard GÇô 10000 ISK Advanced GÇô 25000 ISK Prototype GÇô 50000 ISK Additional event info All rewards are on a per character basis ISK bounty is capped at 10 million This event objective can be played in conjunction with Sidearm Showdown EVE Online/DUST 514 Community Representative GÇ+ EVE Illuminati GÇ+ Fiction Adept @CCPEterne GÇ+ @EVELiveEvents

Edit: Thank you CCP for an SP event that is equally accessible by any players. The heavy event was pretty meh for me because I wasn't going to skill up heavy weapons just to get the SP, and it was nigh impossible to kill that many heavies unless you boosted. At least this one, anyone can participate.

Trying to figure out what the sweet spot for kill related events should be, as well as introducing well thought out and easy to reward community events. xSivartx is my Heavy. Don't expect any militia commandos. The normal course of the game does not drive activity. The active cap is too low for most casual people. Therefore, events are much more popular among the crowd who just don't have time to play the game. Events drive a lot of activity and people like to take place in them. The bonus SP is a great carrot. They could give us 3 million SP a month and it would still take us a couple years to hit the maximum amount of SP for the game. SP allows you to diversify and people get bored playing the same role for 3 months. This injection of SP allows people to skill into a new weapon or dropsuit and get a taste without having to hit the weekly cap for 4 weeks. I think 750 kills in two weeks is still a little too grindy, but its close. Thats 54 kills a day, which means at LEAST a couple hours a day considering its only sidearms/commandos. It challenges players to try something new. This even gives us 3 new suit and 3 new weapons for a total of 4 suits and 7 weapons(?) to find our new niche. It doubles as a large-scale play test of the new features. Everyone wins one way or another

Don't expect any militia commandos. (A) It prevents people from whining as much about wanting respecs (B) It allows people to quickly gain SP so they can actually try other things without having to wait forever to gain the SP to do so (C) It puts everyone on a more even playing field, especially the new people. If a person is using a particular suit and is already maxed out with that suit, then gaining more SP isn't helping nor hurting him in aspects of gameplay, but to those whom have low SP or just started, the new SP gains help tremendously in making the game more fair for them. I see nothing wrong with that. The current maps are getting old and it starts to get boring sitting there playing them over and over and over trying to get SP which is why you see so many people AFK farming. These events get people into gear because you have more of a purpose/reason to play. You get a real reward for achieving an objective as opposed to just playing and getting some. That's my opinion anyway. Join the revolution... change the future.

It's all part of learning Well, I suppose you could hit someone with a charge shot, hide, then come back out when the overheat cooldown is over. Seems like an awful lot of hassle for the same result that any other gun could do by itself in half the time. That and if you wanted to finish someone with a charge shot, you might as well have just kept shooting with your primary. I'm still going to try out the Ion Pistol, it's just that I have next to no hope of it being more useful in any situation than any other gun.

However, I have two comments to make on this: 1. if you really want people using commando, just make them the same tank as heavies. To me, this makes sense. The weight and power draw of one "Heavy" weapon, should be about equal to 2 'light' ones. I dont use commando, because it doesnt have enough tank. 2. Yea, something without allowing squads in would be nice too, matches that takes in completely random people, and not allowing the squads, that would really make for a fair (random) gameplay and would be interesting because everyone would bring in something else, like this now you see only groups of 5 heavies and scouts all around them. This just needs to stop, more modes required and yeah, something else than continuous pvp.

And then there are 15 Logis in one team, and everybody runs around trying to get a revive. This doesn't encourage teamplay. In cases like these make an event like the Million Clone Challenge. But you don't have to be so generous with the rewards. A few goals to achieve and maybe 1 MIllion SP for everybody at max. Sign up for Caldari FW and defeat the evil Gallente Overlords!

Running 2 smgs on a commando just bout to get a kill ds falls on him. -_- or some blue will take him. Yes it was my choice, and it is the only choice for me to actually accomplish this event. I just don't have the time to make 750 kills. THis still doesn't change the point that a sidearm event after releasing new heavy suits is a bad idea. And seriously: kill events in a team based shooter aren't really that great. Because it encourages you to do stupid stuff like running in front of your teammates to make sure that YOU get the kill and not them and so on. I counted every single kill I made using Commando, using Side Arm and using both and I made 756 kills but I only received around 600,000 SP instead of the cap that was supposed to be 750,000 so basically I screwed my KDR for using untrained crappy weapons/suits and didn't got the full reward. Can you guys please double check the kills, I guess some of us here counted the kills and are sure that we got the cap but still didn't received it in full as reward.

Really you are going to create an event too "complex" for you to track correctly. You awarded me 306 aur commando suits so you know I got 306 kills with a commando suit. You have awarded others who did not use a commando suit but did use a sidearm to get kills so you are capable of tracking side arm kills. So put the 2 together and voila an accurate SP payout.

Doesn't sound like I am the one who is confused or unsure. As far as I am concerned you get 1000 SP for getting a kill in a commando suit and 1000 SP for getting a kill using a sidearm. I only used a commando suit and a sidearm to get my 300 + kills, bar 2-3 kills, and only received 300K SP approx for the event i.e. I only received 50% of the SP award. This is getting annoying and lessens my opinion and trust in the actions of CCP going into the future.

Did you bother even looking into my specific case? or did you just not bother and just hit the auto reply. The next is not meant to be taken as a threat but an expression of how I feel about your treatment so far. On Eve Online and Dust 514 a favoured expression is that "your actions have consequences". This also applies to CCP and for the following reasons: 1. BPO removal. You were removing the specific skill so removing the BPO was fine. However, it was your approach that affected my future decisions. You could have removed the BPO's early, given the Aur refund, and allowed players the opportunity to use that aurum to purchase other BPO's or not. You could have replaced the BPO's with the nearest new skill alternative. Instead you chose to remove our BPO's at the same time as you removed all the other BPO's from the market only leaving depleatable items for purchase. This action on your part meant that I was unwilling to buy any product with a BPO item in it e.g. your veteran pack or your anniversary pack. 2. Your removal of the merc pack which gave me BPO's and a 30 day active booster and enough aurum to purchase a 30 day passive booster and still have enough to buy other BPO's and replacing it with, in my opinion, a far less value for money alternative. This action has stopped me buying any of your packs or boosters. Once the aurum on my account has been used up that will be it as far as aurum is concerned. This result may have been great in terms of your in game "economy" but has negative consequences for your profit and loss account since I am no longer willing to buy stuff with real money. All that draws me back to your game are the following: 1. One day you may create the game that people see the potential in. However, this is not enough to get me to actively play what is currently a lobby shooter. What does make me an active player is: 2. When you bring in significant new content. This does not happen often and the gap between times is long enough that I stop actively playing. However, what covers the periods between the introduction of new content is: 3. The events you put on. Not all events as I pretty much ignored the heavy event but at least some of them. However, with your actions of actively ignoring players who raise the issue of incorrect rewards, and specifically theirs, and generating cookie cutter answers and not bothering to look at their specific complaint you are basically saying don't bother playing in these slightly more complex events because we can not even track them correctly. I do not understand why you wish to discourage people from playing your game by ignoring legitimate issues. What is SP worth in the real world? Nothing. But to the player who plays the game the SP reward was a reflection of the effort they made and to be told that 50% of the reward you were expecting won't be handed out just reduces the value of future events, my enjoyment, the game and CCP as a whole in my eyes. Just handing out 750K SP to every player, or at least, those who raised a ticket concerning this issue would not have been game breaking but ignoring your player base is. One event or even 2 may not be a big thing but all the actions are cumulative and are having an affect.
