You can choose to use sidearms on a Commando suit to speed things up, but that's your choice. Don't cry about being forced to use sidearms on a Commando suit, because it was YOUR choice to do it.

Including both kills in a Commando suit as well as sidearm kills in the same event is to ensure there's something for everybody (or more than just a few at least), and the idea was for people to do the Commando kills OR the sidearm kills, not neccesarily both (at the same time). As I said before, you could choose to speed it up by using sidearms on a Commando suit, or switching between running Commando and running sidearms on something else, but you wouldn't be required to.

Thank you for this event CCP. It was clear and easy to understand and wasn't grindy at all. You can safely do more of these kind of events to mix things up in the future.

Thanks for the clarification. If a kill is made with a melee attack, the logs will only show the dropsuit used and not the weapon. So, if you made a melee kill (with a sidearm) in a commando suit that would count for the commando contingency event, but not the sidearm showdown event. We will update the event info with this and ask the dev team to track melee kills by weapon type in the future. How do Orbitals work regarding this? I can't remember the last time I raged so hard. I'm forced to use *** side weapons and the only thing I can do is dying. Also for some reason I only get into matches with crap blueberries and we get stomped all the time. Match starts and we hold 3 points. I attack the only enemy point remaining and suddenly I'm surrounded by 5 people. Dead. I spawn. Dead. I spawn at another point. Shotgunner out of nowhere. Dead. I really don't want to see these stupid kill events anymore. I want the SP and the only way to get them in a reasonable amount of time is to use a Commando suit with side weapons. But these weapons suck and my aiming is not really that good in close quarters. Of course I have to get into close quarters first to even be able to use them. Not to mention that every *** time I finally find an enemy there is also another one behind me and another at my side. I always get attacked from *** everywhere and have the feeling that I'm the only one on the whole map on my team who is outside of the redline. Not to mention all the other times when I went 1K / 15 assists because there always was that one ***** guy snatching my kills. Continue with the new Heavy frames. Currently everybody and their mother is playing a heavy. I run around a corner and suddenly 6 or 7 ***** heavies grilling me! Not to mention that side weaons aren't exactly your weapon of choice against heavies. On top of that the strength of the Commando is 2 light weapons, yet I'm forced to use a side weapon if I want to cap out the event in a reasonable amount of time, which btw. are crap on most maps because you can barely effectively use them. They are CQC weapons. Really, I can't even find words to describe my rage about this event. Every *** round for me is: Kill Assist, Kill Assist, Kill Assist, Kill Assist, Kill Assist, Kill Assist, Kill Assist, Heavy, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead. I don't have a chance all against all these aimbot... pardon "aim-assist" users in CQC. They wiggle around a little bit and I can't hit ** with kb/m anymore. I'm normally a patient player, don't care about K/d-ratio at all and even kill assists is something I couldn't care less about. But this event... everything except a kill pisses me off. Kill assist equals defeat. on top of that I die extremely often due to the mentioned advantage "aim-assist" users have against kb/m users and also because I suck at CQC. There is a reason I'm normally a rail rifle user. Heck: I'm about to play Dark Souls to come down. Because Dark Souls is by far not as annoying as this event. For the next event I would really like some kind of community event again. None of these personal events anymore please. Because it gets REALLY annoying when the blues become your enemies and you have to make sure that they don't get a kill so you can get it. It annoys me to hell when a kill assist is reason to get pissed, even though normally it means that you get at least some points. And also the timing for a sidearm event couldn't be worse. I mean: A sidearm event when there are 80% heavies on the battlefield. That's just not good. So please CCP: More Community events. More events that encourage working together towards a common goal and no events that encourage egoism. For example if you do a Logi event you would probably want people to rep and revive and so on. And then there are 15 Logis in one team, and everybody runs around trying to get a revive. This doesn't encourage teamplay. In cases like these make an event like the Million Clone Challenge. But you don't have to be so generous with the rewards. A few goals to achieve and maybe 1 MIllion SP for everybody at max. Sign up for Caldari FW and defeat the evil Gallente Overlords!

Yes it was my choice, and it is the only choice for me to actually accomplish this event. I just don't have the time to make 750 kills. THis still doesn't change the point that a sidearm event after releasing new heavy suits is a bad idea. And seriously: kill events in a team based shooter aren't really that great. Because it encourages you to do stupid stuff like running in front of your teammates to make sure that YOU get the kill and not them and so on. And the Kill Assists during these events are a problem too. The events should be fun, yet they add "Kill Assist" to the rage factor. Sign up for Caldari FW and defeat the evil Gallente Overlords!
