By my calculations they have about 7 months to make it happen before 80% of the few remaining players move to higher ground. Good luck monetizing the game on an outdated system played primarily in third world countries. Really, good ******* luck.
Not everybody instantly buys a PS4. Really. Many people wait until it has a decent lineup consisting of mor than just 5 games and 3 exclusives. Besides that so far the PS4 doesn't look like it has anything unique to offer.

Most of the time I only hear from PS4 users that they aren't using it because of a lack of games and instead play PS3.

^ Agreed Aikuchi Tomaru.
People just buy into the hype of OMFG A NEW THING JUST CAME OUT I GOTS TO HAVE IT.
Same reason people are sheep to apple products.
PS3 is still good and probably won't start to show it's true age until much later. If it wasn't for Metal Gear I'd doubt I'd even get a PS4 this year. |

If you are looking at this post CCP, I believe an excellent way of making some money would be to offer SP for sale for newer players, up to a set maximum, then after that you would have to earn it. 500K while nice is not enough to compete with 40+ Million SP players, and I get that they have been playing forever and have earned it. However, this is about getting new players into the game and making money off of old ones. How many people would spend 10 bucks on 1 mil SP, up to say a cap of 5 mil? ThatGÇÖs only around 50 bucks; most adults would spend that on a free game because itGÇÖs the cost of a normal game so they could justify it. How many people would create an alt knowing they could get to 5 mil SP.
That or you could lower the SP requirements of your skills or pay out more SP per match, or pay for a booster that would allow a secondary character to receive the full benefits of a passive SP like your primary. Heck, people are already creating secondary PSN accounts to have a toon sit and collect points then just switch out. Unfortunately, I have just hit 4.5 mil SP so this wouldn't help me much but if I was a new player you can bet your a$$ I would have bought it.

yup seeign as the char system pretty much works the same way i don't see why it wouldn't be a possibility in the near future. but seeing as the game is free just make up a diff psn accoutn and start a char on there. its what i did. i have 2 chars per race just building up passive SP between patches so i can test new features out before spending sp on here. also you can only have 16 accounts per playstation (that you can log into) but thats more than enough to just get a char each race to try things out with

Items, resources, sockets, gear, vehicles that are TRULY RARE and can change the tide of war. I'm not talking OP, I'm talking different defensive sockets for pc maps that corps can set up before the match. Maybe offensive vehicles with heavier armor/ shield protection to overcome such defenses for attacking corps. Let us buy the ability to call down 2 blaster turrets, a supply depot in areas of our choice. Give us a gear crate with RARE suites that have RARE slots/ Abilities and weapons that are limited.
Ex: Heavy suite with light suit speed, Assault suite with heavy weapon, Logi suit with commando capabilities
Each of these abilities would be available maybe once a month then they change the following month limit them but have a variety. This will make the corps think and strategize about which ones to invest in depending on the situation they believe they will be facing. Or invest in abilities that corps can reward their soldiers with. As far as getting Dust and Eve together, let corps invest in RARE orbital Ammunition, larger area of impact, ammo that can affect areas under cover, ammo specific for vehicles. Offer EVE pilots RARE items, resources, gear that is only available when a contracted corp or squad wins a specific battle or mission if we are looking at PvsE.
Really its all supply and Demand CCP, ( You got way to much supply not enough Demand) Everyone wants to stand out, be different, have a slight edge, have something no one else has. AAAAND everyone also wants to TAKE that something away. Just look at what people will do to kill rare protos, thales, officer weapons, Aur tanks etc. We love to make those people pay for thinking they can have an edge and not loose it. We also LOVE to pay for the slight chance of HAVING the edge ourselves. Our countries make millions of selling off advanced weaponry to each other while concealing their own defenses against those very weapons. Do you have any idea how much you could make if you sold both defensive and offense? Think about it..and if you need anymore suggestions, give me a call I can work for a decent paycheck ;)
P.S.-- CCP play your game, invest in it. Allow your creativity to develop from immersing in it.

On the topic of moving to the PS4, let us all remember that the PS2 was very well alive long into the PS3's life cycle. And for the PS3, we can only expect that to be even longer. The gap from PS2 to PS3 had some pretty major defining evolutions, most notably the standardization of online multiplayer. What does the PS4 have that the PS3 can't mimic to some degree in terms of gameplay?
PS4 is nice, but Dust doesn't need to make the move right away.

Yeah, I would love to see the Black on Gold DUST University squads and the Blue for Immortal Guides. Would just need sections of each suit colour mapped to the three colours selected in the Corp logo, with a default dark grey if no colour is selected in one of the layers.
There should be a customisation slot in the fittings, where you can select a Corp Colours display chit. Have the chits cost 10 AUR. Not much, but it will add up over time. If you run out of the chits it will not make your fitting invalid, it just will go back to the default colours for that suit.

I haven't read through this entire thread but I think that the way Aurum gear is distributed should be re-evaluated. I think, instead of a finite amount of gear that you buy, Aurum should work on a time based license system (like PLEX in EVE).
I should be able to buy a specific aurum weapon or suit and have access to said item for X amount of time based on the amount I pay. The Aurum "licenses" (as I'll call them for the duration of this post) would have "Day" "Week" and "Month" variations that allow me to use said weapon an unlimited amount of times during the duration of the license period. From a psychological aspect I think it'd dull the pain of loss that comes with losing a specific piece of Aurum gear while encouraging those that otherwise wouldn't have bothered to give the method of play a shot. Like PLEX these licenses could also be bought and sold on the player market as well.

" What are some ways that CCP can monetize this game?" 1. respecs 2. weapons, officer grade, skill levels required. 3. suits, officer grade, skill levels required.
A. weapon addons, change outs. Let us build out our own weapons. Example: Base AR, Buildable components? Barrel? Scope, red dot, iron sight? Stock? fore grip? (Sum of all parts equals to specific traits, etc.) (each part has it own cpu, pg cost, plus base) A merc can tailor a weapon to their needs, play style, etc.
I understand in game rendering, lag, etc. would be terrible with individualized suits, weapons, etc. But in game can be generalized to some degree...
I am just rambling on a second cup of Joe.....
you should know by now....

With our unending proto stomping by a few corps and long wait times for FW.
We arent dead but we are far from flourishing.
I also have an issue with any game looking to pump out content for purchase when a year after launch we still dont have the full base of the product. Even if we get full racial parity of lights and heavies we still wont have Pilots, all base vehicles or racial weapons.
Look how long players have asked for just a simple colour palette or a couple skins, we dont even have individual models for all suits or paint jobs for certain proto level suits. Weapons look practically the same through the whole progression. Enhancements? boosters and thats it.
I hope if they are serious about this then its quality and hopefully developed by a separate team or outsourced so the content drip doesnt get any slower.

But that larger audience has way more content to take up their time while the other is going through a serious drought. And the PS4 install base surpasses how many users we probably have.
That said - they can take their time because I wont get my PS4 to possibly this Fall and if certain games slip then that will move my purchase to 2015.
