So I am sure all of you are shocked to hear this: CCP created this game in order to make money. They are a company and exist to make money. I was mortified to discover this too but I think if we all band together we can overcome this sudden revelation.
Anyhoo, currently there are only two ways to monetize the game and they both do the same thing. Boosters let you accumulate SP faster whether it be an Active or Passive Booster and AUR gear. AUR gear falls into three categories: Standard level gear with no SP requirement, Advanced level gear with a single level requirement, and Prototype gear which requires three levels in that skill. So "do more, faster" is the name of the game.
I am curious what are other ways CCP can sell services to the community without being insulting. UVT's were insulting; not being able to talk to your corporation unless you spent like 2 dollars a month was ridiculous. I am glad CCP did away with them. What do you think you would buy with real money? How can CCP make money off of the community without just milking us like blue ribbon cows? |

Cosmetics.
Paint bucket options for aurum would be popular. It probably doesn't need to be bumped up the priority list though, considering the game's existing flaws. |

Vanity suit skins. Personally I wouldn't be apposed to a voluntary subscription for a bit of AUR, if they keep it really now like $5 a month I would think a higher percentage of people would be willing to sign up and in reality it's more to support the game than get much AUR.

Shame on whoever suggests customization for aurum. Games had customization back on ps2 and early ps3 and then it dropped off. Customization should be standard in all games lol.
Ccp needs to make the game not suck and offer subscriptions. |

Aurum item in EVE are all cosmetic. They could add those type items in Dust as well as suit/vehicle custom colors, emblem and logos.

At the moment they'll probably make more money with the PS3 version. And that probably won'tchange for at least another year or two.

Thats not true, aurum items have the same stats as regular isk bought items.
And this isn't cod, this is dust. There should be no limit to the amount of players on the team unless it's high sec. There's nothing wrong with ganging up with a larger group in this game |

Well for starters - giving us proper customisation of dropsuits, weapons and vehicle skins and colours would certainly bring in some money for CCP. I would pay to be able to change colours / have unique variants etc... |

We have just brought in a new Monetization Director that will be looking at a lot of various monetization avenues. Introductions and cool stuff to come soon when I can get him to fire it over to me! :)

Another money making idea, FIX THE OLD CONTENT BEFORE YOU RELEASE NEW CONTENT.
Honestly this sort of thread is why DUST will always be crap. Instead of saying, "I refuse to buy AUR until the game is totally finished" People are saying, "I know the game is nearly unplayable but if you let me see my guy with my helmet off I'll pay whatever you want!"
This is why next year everyone will be playing Star Citizen on computers or any of the space theme console games coming out, and CCP goes the way of 38 Studios. |

Really?
Finally getting the people you needed 18 months ago eh CCP?
I'd happily pay an elite pack amount of coin to give DUST University a uniform. Something I've mentioned now at two Fanfest's.

I would have no problem paying a (smaller than EVE) subscription if that meant we could have quality content.
As it stands now, one of the major hurdles I see in integrating EVE and DUST, particularly their economies, is the fact that they have different business models. DUST players can just drop RL money on the game to get what they want. Why worry about the hassle of dealing with EVE players in that case?

There are a lot of faults with DUST, but at the least, the pay to win argument doesn't stand. AUR items have identical stats to their ISK counterparts. At best it's 'pay-to-get-early-access.' What's the difference between me spending RL money for proto and maybe two weeks later (a month, tops) you paying ISK and SP for the exact same thing?
"Pay to win" is spouted by knee jerk reactionary scrubs.
(I don't spend AUR on anything other than boosters.)

Dual boosters amount to more or less a monthly MMO subscription. Isn't that enough? Other companies seem to do fine with that, and they actually have the expenses that come with creating/providing a true MMO. |

changing core mechanics & specific playstyles every patch is even more insulting because if forces you to grind if you are unhappy with the situation. that is what is currently happening and 1.8 is no different when no respec is given. |

Agreed. Last I heard, they were looking to charge more than EVE for a monthly DUST subscription, which seems bonkers once you compare depth and content.
If they come to their senses, they could have a happy, steady stream of income though.
As for things I'd pay for:
- Suit "paint": Let me buy uses of a skin I can apply to any suit I want. Even 10 AUR a pop is fine.
- Pimp my Merc Quarters
- Pimp my Corp War Barge
- Pimp my Merc, assuming you ever let us take our helmets off.
- FW faction standings boosters (not LP boosters)
- Allow players to trade AUR for ISK with each other (similar to the PLEX market in EVE)
- Create a market period. Being able to trade AUR items could increase their purchase by cash-rich, ISK-poor players.
That's off the top of my headGǪ

maybe we can get vanity items? Such as camos and war paint or maybe corp emblem on the chest or back or on a tank? those woulnd really influence game balance but give us some much needed bling. Players always try to set themselves apart. |
