As it stands now, one of the major hurdles I see in integrating EVE and DUST, particularly their economies, is the fact that they have different business models. DUST players can just drop RL money on the game to get what they want. Why worry about the hassle of dealing with EVE players in that case?
Actually, EVE players can drop RL money, in the form of PLEX, which can be immediately sold to other players on the marketplace for ISK. They can also drop RL money on Aurum, to buy fancy dresses and shoes on the "Noble Exchange".
This is a great jumping off point for answering the question, "What can CCP do to make more money from Dust players?" Well, to begin with, introducing a feature that makes Aurum exchangeable for ISK would probably be a good first step.
Boosters that actually affected in-game performance would probably sell well, too, especially if the player base acknowledged that it helped against protostompers. For example, tiered boosters to "Increase projectile weapon damage x%" that expired would probably be popular. The could even come in sets that offer additional bonuses, similar to those found in EVE.
Alternatively, CCP could incentivize players to spend money on the New Eden universe in general by making certain features of Dust rely heavily or exclusively on activities tied to an EVE character/account. This is already true of many aspects of corporation management (which stinks and which isn't a feature I think should be this way), but such a connection could easily segue into realizing EVE/Dust connections in manufacturing, PvE, and null sec warfare. If EVE/Dust integration was central to the development process, I'd wager a lot of "monetization issues" would evaporate.

Ways to monetize Dust? How about sponsorship?
Sponsors pay a subscription fee and receive the following benefits:
- (one of the following) 1. Half passive SP on their two other characters. 2. Full passive SP on all three characters.
- Monthly allowance of AUR (given a sum of AUR at the start of every month)
- Cool little tag on their forum avatar identifying them as a sponsor (similar to Dev, GM, and CPM tags, although in a different spot in case a Dev, GM, or CPM member is also a sponsor) (can be toggled on/off to mess with people)
- Receive extra items from the newsletters (regular subscribers still get the bonus items, but sponsors get extra items in addition to the regular newsletter items) (shouldn't affect regular newsletter bonuses) (for example: more of the item, higher tier version of the item, a second thing that was added with an update (add in three new heavy weapons: newsletter subscribers gets 25 of weapon A, sponsors also get 25 of weapon B)

Many people wait until it has a decent lineup consisting of mor than just 5 games and 3 exclusives. Besides that so far the PS4 doesn't look like it has anything unique to offer.
Far too man ypeople think that the PS3 is suddenly not worth it anymore just because a newer system is out. I really don't understand it. The PS3 hasn't changed a bit. It's games haven't changed a bit either. It's still a great console with a very good lineup. Something the PS4 can only dream of currently.
Most of the time I only hear from PS4 users that they aren't using it because of a lack of games and instead play PS3. I haven't bought a PS4. I'm broke and waiting for the trustworthy second gens to roll out. But you just summed up the problem. People that are still here after Destiny is released on second gen PS4s, will remain because they aren't capable of funding the endeavor - or this one, either. Tick, tock. You assume that everyone here wants to play Destiny, and apparently want to play it exclusively. Not quite everyone. But enough. I assure you. If this game can survive 2014's Q4 fiscals, it will be solely populated by fanbois and a few impoverished kids without mics. History repeats itself, itself.
You know many people are able to have 2 consoles at the same time. They can still play Dust if they want and they will do so. And people who sell their consoles: Who do you think buys them? Some strange beings from the ether? No, other people who might or might not play Dust too. On top of that the PS3 is still being produced. The new gen just means that old games get cheaper now and they finally buy a PS3. Every effect you think the PS4 might have is nullified by another effect. In maybe 4 or 5 years you can say they should switch over to the PS4 because less and less people play PS3. And even that isn't sure. I think you extremely overestimate the impact of a new generation console. Not everybody is a die hard who always has to have the newest console and the newest games. Some people think the older games are better.
And I for one have yet to see a single next gen game that's worth buying. Destiny? Not worth it. I can play Borderlands. It's basically the same thing. inFamous? Doesn't look that good either. Just seems to be infamous 2 with better graphics. That won't get me to buy a PS4. Titanfall? A MP only shooter where you basically shoot at cannon fodder most of your time. Sorry but no. Nothing so far really stands out.
Heck: Even nowadays I sometimes just play some good old PS2 games.

There are way more people playing Dust. You just took the highest player numbers. And you're missing some points: The same people don't play every day. Some can only play during one specific day of the week. They also don't play during the same times. Some people don't play for months until they take a look again and so on. It's like saying Eve Online only has 60.000 subscribers because that's the maximum amount of people being online at the same time you've seen. But Eve Online has 500.000 ACTIVE subscribers. So it's safe to say that Dust has something about 100.000 active players and way more people who have it installed.
May not sound like much, but it's enough. But to continue that argument: If the 80 million PS3s out where mean about 100.000 people playing Dust you can probably imagine how that would look like on the PS4. 100 people playing DUst on the PS4? Yeah. Definitely worth to port the game for these few people.

Anyhoo, currently there are only two ways to monetize the game and they both do the same thing. Boosters let you accumulate SP faster whether it be an Active or Passive Booster and AUR gear. AUR gear falls into three categories: Standard level gear with no SP requirement, Advanced level gear with a single level requirement, and Prototype gear which requires three levels in that skill. So "do more, faster" is the name of the game.
I am curious what are other ways CCP can sell services to the community without being insulting. UVT's were insulting; not being able to talk to your corporation unless you spent like 2 dollars a month was ridiculous. I am glad CCP did away with them. What do you think you would buy with real money? How can CCP make money off of the community without just milking us like blue ribbon cows? I'd pay real money for a balanced game that actually works. |

People can que up to go back to your room. Make it so that you can squad up and launch into a battle from the bar. Bar sells Son's Hard Quafe for 1 Aur, and you walk around the bar with the Quafe can in your hand occasionally taking a sip - can disipears after a while. If you drink to much hard quafe and go into battle gives you mercs movements a drunken swerving when walking/running (only lasts one match). Add a dance floor, disco ball and jukebox to the bar (plays music from your ps3 hard drive for 1 Aur).
I could go on and on and on, but what's the point, not like any of this is ever going to happen.
That idea is actually reminicent of the "Sodium Hub" and the "Wipeout Museum" in PSHome. I still pop my head in the spaces every once in a while.

Introductions and cool stuff to come soon when I can get him to fire it over to me! :) YAY? Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of things I would gladly pay for in this game, but isn't it odd to see a post basically saying "Hey guys! We are thinking of new ways to make money off of you guys!" Honestly this is something that has to be thought through from not only a Monetization perspective, but also Design. We've made it clear from the beginning that we'd like to have an in-game economy, and it's important to have someone with experience and knowledge weighing Monetization decisions alongside that to ensure things aren't broken. He'll also be working on improving the NPE and Path-to-Game, trying to make it easier for players to get involved. He's also a super nice dude. :)
+514 for super nice dude ^_^

open the market, charge an Aurm per transaction, about 0.02 cents, no one person would worry. Problems yes, linked markets, exchange rates may not work out the way you like Eve players disregard Dust, but have dust players able to capture and hold a valuable asset like a planet, or rare mineral and that would change. Only way to recapture would be to hire more Mercs. Then Dust has something to offer. May take a few attempts to make stable, but a new version of either game would reset things

Hmm this is a tough one:
-22 vs 22 player games as advertised
-Player Market
-Some sort of PVE (AI would be hard for ccp to do right so it can wait)
-Advanced and Proto Tanks
-Racial Dropships and Tanks
-AV Buff
-Fix PC district locking
-Team Deploy
-New Player Academy require 5 mill sp to graduate
-Fix the damn speech bubble glitch
Release the game for re-review when all of the above is done and the influx of new players will be buying sp boosters by the bucketfull so they can compete with all the 20mill+ players
Done
In a completely sane world, madness is the only freedom.
