Thusfar we all know tanks are a pain to destroy, and requires teamwork which is great. It's awesome how shield is the hit and run, armor can take a beating but if they get low they are in trouble. That being said lets say you have 20 million skill points into tanks, should someone with not even 1 single point in tanks be able to destroy your 700k plus tank in two shots just cause they was on a hill with a sica with damage mods? (stating of course that your hardener is down given you're half way across the map)
Many people are crying foul on tanks, where as the current level of tanks are fine if you account for maddy and gunlog. tanks. The issue why you are seeing so many is because the militia tanks are on par with the best tankers in the game almost, and require no skill points to use. Someone fresh out of the academy could use one and destroy a vet tanker.
Below is the differences between a dedicated tanker, and someone whom just came out of the academy.
Reduced Cooldowns on active modules Increased turret turning speed Increased Reload times Slightly increased Armor rep or shield regen when depleted. Ability to use missile turrets which are awesome but useless against shields with a hardener.
Yes the differences are huge in the long term, problem is that there is no increased ability to survive, leaving those no skill militia tanks being able to kill us just as easy as a vet tank at distance. They can activate their two hardeners with a rail turret and destroy tanks like nothing. Or god forbid they have a rail turret with double damage mods where they can easily destroy a vet player half way across the map in 2 shots.
There are many solutions that are possible including requiring skills to use the militia tanks given how strong they are. I mean why run a 250k proto suit when you can run a 75k militia tank and dominate both infantry and tanks. A few solutions that have been mentioned is listed below:
- Reduce HP of militia tanks
Tier the hardeners like they was pre 1.6 to decrease the survivability of militia tanks while not harming the true dedicated tankers within the game. Requiring higher skill requirements to use damage mods on tanks.
Feel free to mention how you feel tanks need balanced, and before you say it please note the nitrious has already been fixed, and they are already looking at reducing the overall speed of tanks. Please do not turn this into an AV QQ thread, this is for constructive feedback from tankers, or those whom know tanks not AV.

lol don't get me wrong I'm enjoying tanks, what really urks me is militia tankers with zero points in tanking 2 shotting me from their red line. Can't exactly keep my hardener up 100% of the time just 90% lol |

AV was fine back then if you were good enough to not tickle your willy and turn your hardners back on.

They get the drop on me too
But its like if i get the drop on proto infantry with BPO
It does give players who want to go into tanks a chance of surviving and getting kills even if it is rail tanking so maybe they progress more into vehicles |

Don't mind tanks being hard to kill, but we need to be rewarded for making you soil yourself and run away(WP for damage). We also need to be able to capitalize on the "waves of opportunity" as promised. I don't want an easy kill but I want to be rewarded for my efforts.

And that's because the fit I was using had it's hardners swamped for heavy Shield and Armor transporters.
And you can clearly see Evolution-7 take the full volleys as if they were nothing, so I don't think AV was nearly as strong as you would like to claim.

the higher leveled tank still holds the advantage over mlt tanks.
but none can survive my new form of av.
from what i have seen when it comes to mlt tank so far.
im pretty sure the maddy still holds the advantage.
just because the base hp stats are the same doesnt mean they can easily take out a better fitted tank.
before 1.7 when av was great there were still extremely powerful tanks. but these were tanks that had lots of sp into them which is obvious.
when there was no decent av on the other team these tanks would pretty much obliterate and dominate the map anyway.
and now when i see the way tanks have been changed.
its feels harder to fit due to even less pg/cpu, less slots than before and cheaper at the same time.
im guessing the buff in over all hp was to make up for the lost slots and less pg/cpu.
i kinda like the fact that its now possible for a mlt tank to kill a std tank now.
even though the higher tier tank holds the overall advantage.
and even though this is here now its not like these "new players" roaming around in mlt tanks have more "experience" than a "vet tanker".
all i needed in order take down a another mlt tank so far was to just put a single 120m enhanced armor plate on a soma.
and that leaves me with hardly any pg/cpu to even fit anything else. as i only have around 3m sp into tanks. but i was able to take down higher tier fits even before 1.7. with a mlt tank. just not as effectively.
and now that re sticks to stuff like the front bumper of a cheap lav. av has a new form to easily destroy tanks.

ccp has decided that sp doesn't win for you. it just gives some nice perks. i like it.
it shouldn't matter that you rolled out in a 700k or 7m tank. isk should not buy safety. if tanks were tougher the more isk you put in, then dropping one just means 1) you're good at grinding and 2) you're really scared of losing.
in 1.6 if someone dropped a ion vayu, you knew it was on. someone reckless, rich, skilled, or all 3 just dropped a big challenge on the table, PRO AV comes out and the game just got real interesting (unless it hides in the red line...)
the way you want it, when a PRO tank drops, everyone will sigh and just leave battle because there will be no point for anyone else to bang their heads against your SP advantage.

You cannot nerf one without the other and I highly disagree with nerfing the militia HAVs HP as it would give the military grade tank far too much advantage regardless of what the milita tank brings. Right now I will fear a sica with a railgun becuase I will not be able to chew through the shields fast enough before he splits my madruger in half with his rail tank and in a two vs 1 scenario I'd likely lose. '
My madruger does not need to be able to plow through a dozen militia tanks without breaking a sweat.
I am also still pushing for teiricide, if anything the milita tanks may actually get buffed because of that process if its done and nullify the need to ever want a prototype tank.

That would defeat the very purpose of sinking 10 or 20 million or in a few cases 30 million plus all into tanks (don't think you could now but you get the idea)
Nothing wrong with mil being able to kill standard, issue is very simply that there is no real incentive to use anything other than Mil tanks given how strong they are. They are equally strong vs mad or gunlogi damage for damage. Hardeners are all the same, damage mods are all the same, every module almost has the same effect with just reduced cooldowns, which is great for inbetween battles but when you're i the heat of battle they are the exact same.
What determines whom wins is simply put who has more hardeners, and who has the counter turret.

More like having tanks not being about having the biggest gun, I taken out tanks with prototype gear and blasters with my basic gear. T vs T environment is nearly perfect in terms of stats, window of engagement, opportunities, favoring the smart and better played players. Thus overall this box is good to go and should be not require that much more tape to make it more perfect.
As for AV vs T and nonTV vs T there is room for improvement but that can come from tweaking small turrets, av effectiveness and various other means which is far safer thing to change than to mess with current Tank vs Tank.
The only thing that would most likely change is how fast the HAVs go and reducing their top speed slightly (but keeping the acceleration mechanics the same)
Hardeners and other cool downs could also be messed with to change up the wave time, as one highly skilled player could nullify any drawbacks of a cool-down for example. However recently I have been running up against dual hardners and no +HP veicles and tearing them a new one because the raw damage they're taking is far too much for their shallow pool of available HP. 99% reistances does you no good if you only have 100 hp and you get nailed with 10k damage.

I think the only issue between mlt and std tanks is there is no incentive for dumping so to unlock std. There needs to be some bonus that goes along with unlocking them. Yet you say Chromosome was unbalanced, even though so few had AV, and a Soma could destroy a Sagaris or Surya in 3 shots, which you still consider to be unbalanced. Tanks were their own best counter for that, and they're their own best counter now. None of you will be happy until ARs destroy tanks.

i just ran 24/0 ina soma...when i specc all those traits will help me greatly to stomp even harder..i did out class other tanks in my soma...but that is because i am simply better at tanking than they are...tanks are not op
team work is however and coordinated veteran tank squads are coming
get ready. .i dunno why all the qq really i have no problem killing other tanks with my av? i do it all the time...and i kill em with my tanks as well..i find that a combination of both is most deadly

I am also still pushing for teiricide, if anything the milita tanks may actually get buffed because of that process if its done and nullify the need to ever want a prototype tank. So you advocate all tanks having basically the same amount of defense and offense, just for longer or shorter "wave" times? The more SP you put into tanking the longer your active times and the shorter your cool down? More like having tanks not being about having the biggest gun, I taken out tanks with prototype gear and blasters with my basic gear. T vs T environment is nearly perfect in terms of stats, window of engagement, opportunities, favoring the smart and better played players. Thus overall this box is good to go and should be not require that much more tape to make it more perfect. As for AV vs T and nonTV vs T there is room for improvement but that can come from tweaking small turrets, av effectiveness and various other means which is far safer thing to change than to mess with current Tank vs Tank. The only thing that would most likely change is how fast the HAVs go and reducing their top speed slightly (but keeping the acceleration mechanics the same) Hardeners and other cool downs could also be messed with to change up the wave time, as one highly skilled player could nullify any drawbacks of a cool-down for example. However recently I have been running up against dual hardners and no +HP veicles and tearing them a new one because the raw damage they're taking is far too much for their shallow pool of available HP. 99% reistances does you no good if you only have 100 hp and you get nailed with 10k damage. i love tanking now in mlt tanks because

yes in 1.7 if you suck at tanking..and spend all your sp on tanks..you could lose to someone like me who has no sp in tanks and is awesome at tanking..and thats how it should be gear only gives u a slight edge skill accounts for more with tanking i wish it was the same with infantry |
