You're fine one second ... all clear ... then BLAMO! INSTA-KILLED without the slightest warning. WTF MAN!? Sounds terrible, yes?

I fear our high-eHP comrades are missing out on an essential Combat experience. My Logi friends are suffering a distinct lack of "OH CRAP WHAT JUST HAPPENED". They'll eventually become bored from lack of stimuli. No one likes a boring shooter.
Enter: Solution! Keep the Shotgun's 5 meter range (so it won't be OP). But boost its max damage potential from 500 to 1,500.
This'll wake 'em up and keep things moving!
Edit: Shotgun pellets must bounce off of Armor. |

As much as I'd love to shove my CreoDron up some AR/ScR carrying Gal Logi ass, lets just step back and take a nice deep breath, Shotty.
The shotgun could use a damage increase, but I think it needs a bit more balanced approach. Something like 800 max w/o damage mods for the CreoDron Shotgun and a slower damage dropoff, enough for about 3-5m more effective range. |

We've already tried the reasonable approach. I like this way better.
Shotgun gets within 5 meters, you lose. (Unless you have a shotgun and hit him first).
Seriously, 3-5 seconds of blasting at a MedFrame? That's boring for everyone. And ridiculous.
We're missing an opportunity here to make this Shooter more exciting! |

That's not really a fair comparison.
AR or HMG have full auto fire, a ROF between 750 - 2000 RPM, and drastically more range than the shotgun. Additionally, they have more than 8 rounds in the magazine.

Heavies are used to dying when a shotgunner sneaks up behind 'em.
Guess we could make this 3x damage multiplier a "back-stab" bonus ... To prevent folks from rushing headlong at Heavies ... I could get behind that.

Make the optimal range 2 meters and you've got yourself a deal. If the shotgun becomes a OHK for any dropsuit it needs to only function as complete surprise weapon. Giving it a 5m optimal, or even a 4m one, would make it stupidly powerful.
Limiting the optimal range to two meters with an effective of 8m would make it a very interesting user for both the crazy shotgunner and his/her poor prey.

It's not though. The whole point is that it could only be done at 4-5 meters. This would force people to be much more aware of their surroundings and move more tactically. The AR hits from everywhere, and the HMG is similar. The shotgun can only get you if you let it get you. This is the point I believe: increase situational awareness. I started using scouts more effectively once I realized this was the key to success. You'd be surprised what you can do with those suits if you pay more attention to what's going on around you. |

You motherfuckers are just skill-less pussies who cry because you cant aim. Learn to aim and consistently 2hko. Nothing is wrong with the shotgun after the hit detection fixes. If you cant kill now youre just bad.

in my honest opinion no light weapon should be able to OHK a heavy frame Sorta defeats the purpose of spending the extra skill points to get into a heavy frame.
