Learning Coalition is meant to help the community and players, right? So why build conflict with a like-minded group? D-Uni is a dictatorship. (And they say that upfront.) So it is a good spot to train but many laid back players get frustrated because it is just a game. (And to be fair they say it right there in the welcome msg) In a nutshell: Remember what got you kicked from ZionTCD? All remember all the trouble u got into? The TYPES of personalities involved. Same thing here. And in the end I still talk to ZionTCD and have helped them in PC. They run things differently then you do - that's fine, that's why others turn to you. But to cause conflict over ideals on how things should get done just takes steps backwards for both groups. Some people want to feel a part of something while learning for the experience - others want the freedom to just ask for advice. There's nothing wrong with either approach.
YEa but there are people's ego. Then there is loyalty. Everyone is different.
They both good groups honestly. I just squaded with bojo school of trade guys. Excellent people.
But in Learning coalition you do have trolls. (evidence of this thread). And in D-Uni you got people who let being "staff at a university" go to their head.
You have both sets of people in all guilds/corps/clans in all games. Overall both are highly effective.

Learning Coalition is meant to help the community and players, right? So why build conflict with a like-minded group?
*Puts on his Sherlock Holmes detective hat.* I'm glad you asked this question, Sota. Let me explain.
The Learning Coalition was founded by three people: CharCharODell, Artificer Ghost, and Fox Gaden. Correct? Correct.
Now, CharCharODell is an interesting subject. I say this because I believe there are two different types of trolls; those who do it for fun, and then those who do it to purposely disrupt any good intentions within a community. Mister O'Dell, falls under the latter from what I've seen. This thread is a good example.
Next we have Artificer Ghost. He's the current CEO of Bojo's School of the Trades. Many people may or may not know this, but back in May when Planetary Conquest was announced. Dust University and Bojo's had planned to create Planet Dojo on Hedaleofarber, and have friendly training matches against each other. Of course, this was when Bojo himself was leading the corporation. When Planetary Conquest finally rolled around, Dust University was actually able to put a clone pack down, thanks to their CEO staying up practically all night until the patch went live.
The very next day Dust University was wardec'd by CRONOS and promptly forced out of Planetary Conquest. I remember looking around the starmap to find any districts owned by Bojo's and couldn't. I even occasionally hoped into their public channel to see what was up, and during one such occurrence I was informed that Bojo had disappeared and that Artificer Ghost was stepping up. The person who informed me about this was Artificer Ghost himself. I told him good luck, and since that point communications between both groups ceased to exist.
For a while, I had thought Bojo's crashed and burned.
Then we have Fox Gaden. At the time, Fox was the Director of Education for Dust University, and was doing an alright job. He's great at theory crafting and has a fondness for writing guides. Whether his guides are practical on the field or not, doesn't really concern me. (They're not, D-UNI's R&D guy checked up on it. It's all theory.) However, some internal drama happened months before PC was even announced, and resulted in people with goals and a means to an end came into the Directorship.
Now, Fox here is clearly easily manipulated, and was influenced by an outside force that another director was after his job. Fox grew paranoid and exchanged e-mails (which are archived) between D-UNI's CEO, myself, and the director involved. I can cite one exact phrase, "I'm losing sleep over it." Fox opted out rather than actually discussing anything with any of the other directors (at this time I became the Director of Diplomacy.) He re-applied to Dust University the following day after having a chat with the CEO, and stayed in for roughly a week before quietly packing his things and disappearing. Shortly after, he created Immortal Guides.
One thing linked these individuals together. Dust University.
I can only assume that after his creation phase of Immortal Guides, Fox began talking to everyone and anyone that would willingly listen to him ramble about his hardships. In return, he fed them lies about Dust University and had them contact members in the community who were strongly opposed to the Dust University leadership as 'evidence' supporting his claims. The external forces that caused Fox to become paranoid happened to know a few people, who knew a few people, and eventually Charolette O'Dell, hoisting his 'Mango and Friends' flag came forwards supporting Fox's Anti-Dust University cause, probably taking it further than what Fox originally wanted. But... Fox isn't a leadership type and quickly back down - conforming to what his dream was becoming - eventually accepting it as reality.
Of course, through the use of delicate diplomacy, they got Artificer Ghost to jump on the band wagon, and the internal scheming began.
Soon after, they hoisted the flag of supporting the New Player Experience and New Players in general. Founding The Learning Coalition. A few Dust University members, myself being one, joined the channel and helped out with what we knew or provided ISK for those who requested it for skill book purchases, or equipment purchases.
Dust University had finally moved back into PC during the FEC vs EoN war, negotiating with both sides to have Hrober V as a neutral planet, of which I was part of the negotiations. The Learning Coalition had yet to actually launch what would be their first series of their forum based attacks. When Dust University announced it's public lecture on meta-gaming, the first shots were fired, though covertly with the addition of a fourth member in their little gang, a corporation hopper known as Dachande Anasazi. Who came into Dust University looking to assist the corporation, only to leave after an incident. In the end he publicly posted a now deleted thread in which he personally attacked specific members of the leadership.
Fox and Artificer Ghost both supported this thread openly. Thus clued me, and the CEO of D-UNI in that something foul was afoot. We continued on with our day-to-day operations after the thread was removed.
About a month later, IG and Bojo enter PC after O'Dell's training request was deliberately ignored by Dust University. A day after they enter Planetary Conquest, Ancient Exiles reforms PFC, calling Dust University to speak with them diplomatically. Diplomats were sent, but not received by AE. The Learning Coalition was clearly behind these attacks as well, to remove their own competition out from Planetary Conquest.
And now you have this thread. Which about sums everything up. |

May wanna takeoff that detective hat. Fox reached out to me AFTER I wrote the review. I only knew about Bojo (and learning coalition by extension but never met fox) and I recommended D-uni join with them.
My only concern was writing reviews to help new comers choose which type of organization they wished to join.
A) D-Uni = Dictatorship but highly organized. Some people have ego problems that go unchecked (YOU) B) Learning coalition = so far I gather they are decentralized disorganized. Full of people who are laid back to game with but do troll others (evidence of this thread - CHAR)
I just recently rolled with bojo. I haven't written anything because Learning coalition works in a very limited time zone.
Again if I was out to "destroy" D-Uni I would have said it sucked. I reviewed it said ti was good but let peopleknow the personalities involved. So people can decide do they want to roll with personalities like YOU (Nadues) or Char. Now Yes I prefer Char's personality and Other's in Mango. Others may prefer yours.
No ill intentions from my part. And I apologized earlier this thread for the language. (After kevall post)
At the end of the day, just like how boxers choose coaches, or gyms that is how n00bs will choose the tutorial corps. I was only trying to help n00bs. (Are they personality type A and won't liek dictatorship and like decentralization or are they personality type B and like the structure d-uni provides)
(I will write my review on learning coalition after I make time to signon during their timezone)
And as far as D-Uni being a dictatorship, THAT IS HOW YOU GUYS LIKE IT!!
So please stop being a damn lil punk. I really don't care if it fails or succeeds. Heck I said it will succeed. I just want different people to know their options. Which is fair enough.
