Whoa... OSG had a squad in FW 2 days ago that carried a bunch of AV nades. I haven't been stomped on that hard in a while. My poor car - <\3
Two days ago I was still part of D-UNI
But honestly, to contribute to this post rather than derailing it.
This whole spit-spat was started and pushed by the Learning Coalition, all because a couple of their 'leading members' have a bitter taste in their mouths when they were part of Dust University. It's not rocket science, especially with Mister O'Dell making these sort of posts.
On top of that, PC has nothing to contribute for our communities new members. Seriously... what benefit does PC have? Sure at the moment it's the only game mode that has friendly fire enabled, but once FW 2.0 comes out... PC won't really have any benefits for training corporations. The directors of D-UNI decided to pull out of PC because it was too stressful, and members inside the corporation weren't actually interested in it. |

SoTarian PoParrazi wrote: Honestly - the only way to train is trial by fire. But there's a down-side to how Dust Uni does it - or so I would assume. Part of the training is learning cohesion with your fellow mates to better match them and work together. If you're always training with different people then the cohesion can become unstable.
Though if you run all of them enough using the same strategies I'm sure they'd pick up on the dos and don'ts. But after being in PC for half a year now - it's just my opinion that the best way to train is to get your best suit possible and join a real team and practice with them constantly.
But - again - just my opinion. I have no idea how Dust Uni actually trains people.
Not jumping at you, you're opinion is certainly correct. Not everyone is going to learn the same way as everyone else. Some will learn by reading guides, others will learn by seeing - then doing - and still others will learn by throwing themselves at the fray to figure out the do's and don'ts of DUST 514.
D-UNI has a lot of ways they train people, lectures happen to be one of our known avenues. So if you're up to it, Sota, you can contact their Director of Education (Sherrad Ventonii) about doing a guest lecture in whatever it is you specialize in. Lectures are typically 45 minutes with a 15 minute Q&A session at the end. |

But I definitely want to contribute a bit more. I even plan to make my own corp eventually who won't be just vets, but people of like minded agendas of improving themselves.
Honestly, we've all gotten to that frustration bit. Those of us who are still around (at least in terms of veteran players) are here either because they like inflicting pain on themselves, or because they actually care for the potential this game has. Sticking through it, and helping newer players based on our experiences is really a good way to retain players, in my opinion.
But either way, good luck on your endeavor to create a corporation that's focused on improving themselves. Honestly, people like destroying things that can benefit others, and it would not surprise me if you had a few enemies quietly plotting, especially now with this particular statement you came forwards with. Don't want to be that guy, but I'll be that guy for the sake of it being four in the morning (at the time of this post.) The meta-game is alive, and well. |

In fact, it was me who kicked him, and his alts out of Dust University immediately after seeing his review. |

Hmmm, well perhaps he heard only part of the conversation, and like I said, the actions of one (or few) do not represent the entire Uni. Naedeus is a good person and was always kind to me :) if Naedeus was angry or said something, there has to be a good reason to do so :) o7 Naedeus EDIT: can someone give me a link to the review....I would like to read it :)
The thread was removed, Prometheus. The content he wrote about certain members violated forum rules and were considered personal attacks.
EDIT:
Trust me, this guy has nothing to contribute to any conversation and doesn't even deserve to be spoken to. He's the lowest form of troll. I've got more respect for SoTa PoP's trolling than I do with this guy. |

You can't remember because you're trying to lie to save your own ass. I know all four people you've called out in your thread, myself being one. We're all grown ups here, and we can all deal with negativity. But what you said in your post about these four members was utterly wrong and pretty offensive. You know nothing about Dust University, you were only in the corporation for little under a week, and your review was nothing more than a half assed attempt at meta-gaming with the only goal to deface members of this community. For what reason? You, for one minute happened to have a bad interaction in a video game? Hilarious, absolutely hilarious.
If you can't handle someone coping an attitude with you - or others - because you or they couldn't follow simple directions in a highly competitive match. Do yourself a favor and stop playing the game, or grow up. Just because you saw a negative side of someone, doesn't instantly mean that they're always like that, nor is it grounds for thinking (and posting on a public forum) that they have a mental illness or are taking real life anger out on a video game.
Oh, and fun little fact, buddy. I deal with criticism on a daily basis, it's part of my hobby. Yours, however, is the type of criticism that's hilarious to read and means nothing because it lacks a constructive edge.

I've put a secret alt or 2 into dust uni and they're still the same a55-holes they have been for quite some time. Act like a newberry and you're told that you're an idiot. There are no classes to speak of and the advice I did get was absolutely ********: "go minmitar assault they said. you'll speed tank they said." lol. just no.
Some of their leadership take this game and their positions way too seriously.
For those of you who want to see how a real training organization is run, check out Learning Coalition chat. It works because it is decentralized and many people from many corps congregate within it to help the newberries. Nobody is in charge and nobody is superior to anyone else when they have something to say.
Also, a lot of the people in our chat are PC vets who know what they're talking about. Realists; not lore-fanbois WHO THINK MN ASSAULT WITH KITKATS IS A GOOD IDEA because it works in eve.
Boy, aren't you a big kid?
Let's spy on a corporation who has all of their information publicly available, who accepts everyone and anyone regardless of their previous affiliations, who gives out information to people willing to work with them for the betterment of the community. You think you're smart and a god at infiltration because you can successfully spy on Dust University. Half, if not all, of your ideas you come up with are simply stolen from D-UNI because you're unoriginal.
I can assure you that no one in Dust University was called an idiot because they acted like, or were actually a new player to the game. If someone was called an idiot, the people involved were more than likely members of D-UNI's Spec Ops program. I don't think I need to explain it to you because you have spies in the corporation.
Furthermore, a leadership that takes itself seriously and has a passion for helping retain players is a leadership that's a force to be reckoned with. These guys don't spend their time in these sections of the forums trolling people because they can. They don't spam pointless threads constantly to get the corporation known. People join D-UNI because they're told to go to the corporation, or they know about Eve University and know that the two corporations are within the same Alliance and focus on similar things between both games.
Of course... I wouldn't expect anything less from a wannabe forum troll who joined D-UNI for two days, claimed he wanted to be a teacher in the corporation, and then left when the Education Director wanted to go through with an interview.
Let's face it, O'Dell, if you really wanted to help the community, and you really cared for the new player experience like the leadership in Dust University does. You wouldn't be wasting your time on the forums trying to gain reputation and fame. Topics like these wouldn't exist from you. All this time and energy you have spent on disrupting Dust University's operations, or spent on trying to ruin it's reputation, is energy you could be spending on coming up with ways to help improve the new player experience, or ways spent communicating with D-UNI on improving the new player experience. 'Cause I can assure you, Brave Newbies and Eve University aren't constantly shooting each other or degrading each other on the forums, and I'm sure as hell both corporations share information between each other to help new players in Eve Online.
Wanna know why Dust University rarely addresses posts like these? It's a waste of time. Each minute spent writing a post to address an unimportant, useless topic, could have been spent writing up new ideas, lectures, and events.
You want nothing more than fame, and in the end, Dust University will live longer than you and your Learning Coalition. Especially if this is the sort of attitude you have towards helping new players. Oh, by the way, enjoy your time in Planetary Conquest while it lasts, 'cause when a new regime comes in, you'll see fire on your doorstep, and you won't be able to do anything about it.
TL;DR - Get bent, plox? |

Your hobby is taking criticism??

All in all D-Uni is a good place.
I criticized and it is your hobby to take it. :) Why not take the criticism and improve since after all you guys are the care bear corp. There is still room for improvement and I am sure at the end of the Day D-uni will become a great corp that will have a dedicated staff that can defend planets and no one will be able to touch it and everyone will respect their territory.
/end
Your post lacked constructive criticism, and was filled with blatant lies and insults towards specific members in the community. Also, my hobby is not taking criticism it's writing, and as such I have to deal with criticism for every story I write. Huge difference. |

SoTarian PoParrazi wrote:This is silly - why doesn't the learning coalition *LOL* work with Dust Uni? Same goals - different views - doesn't mean the two have to collide just because Char is bored.
Learning Coalition is meant to help the community and players, right? So why build conflict with a like-minded group?
*Puts on his Sherlock Holmes detective hat.* I'm glad you asked this question, Sota. Let me explain.
The Learning Coalition was founded by three people: CharCharODell, Artificer Ghost, and Fox Gaden. Correct? Correct.
Now, CharCharODell is an interesting subject. I say this because I believe there are two different types of trolls; those who do it for fun, and then those who do it to purposely disrupt any good intentions within a community. Mister O'Dell, falls under the latter from what I've seen. This thread is a good example.
Next we have Artificer Ghost. He's the current CEO of Bojo's School of the Trades. Many people may or may not know this, but back in May when Planetary Conquest was announced. Dust University and Bojo's had planned to create Planet Dojo on Hedaleofarber, and have friendly training matches against each other. Of course, this was when Bojo himself was leading the corporation. When Planetary Conquest finally rolled around, Dust University was actually able to put a clone pack down, thanks to their CEO staying up practically all night until the patch went live.
The very next day Dust University was wardec'd by CRONOS and promptly forced out of Planetary Conquest. I remember looking around the starmap to find any districts owned by Bojo's and couldn't. I even occasionally hoped into their public channel to see what was up, and during one such occurrence I was informed that Bojo had disappeared and that Artificer Ghost was stepping up. The person who informed me about this was Artificer Ghost himself. I told him good luck, and since that point communications between both groups ceased to exist.
For a while, I had thought Bojo's crashed and burned.
Then we have Fox Gaden. At the time, Fox was the Director of Education for Dust University, and was doing an alright job. He's great at theory crafting and has a fondness for writing guides. Whether his guides are practical on the field or not, doesn't really concern me. (They're not, D-UNI's R&D guy checked up on it. It's all theory.) However, some internal drama happened months before PC was even announced, and resulted in people with goals and a means to an end came into the Directorship.
Now, Fox here is clearly easily manipulated, and was influenced by an outside force that another director was after his job. Fox grew paranoid and exchanged e-mails (which are archived) between D-UNI's CEO, myself, and the director involved. I can cite one exact phrase, "I'm losing sleep over it." Fox opted out rather than actually discussing anything with any of the other directors (at this time I became the Director of Diplomacy.) He re-applied to Dust University the following day after having a chat with the CEO, and stayed in for roughly a week before quietly packing his things and disappearing. Shortly after, he created Immortal Guides.
One thing linked these individuals together. Dust University.
I can only assume that after his creation phase of Immortal Guides, Fox began talking to everyone and anyone that would willingly listen to him ramble about his hardships. In return, he fed them lies about Dust University and had them contact members in the community who were strongly opposed to the Dust University leadership as 'evidence' supporting his claims. The external forces that caused Fox to become paranoid happened to know a few people, who knew a few people, and eventually Charolette O'Dell, hoisting his 'Mango and Friends' flag came forwards supporting Fox's Anti-Dust University cause, probably taking it further than what Fox originally wanted. But... Fox isn't a leadership type and quickly back down - conforming to what his dream was becoming - eventually accepting it as reality.
Of course, through the use of delicate diplomacy, they got Artificer Ghost to jump on the band wagon, and the internal scheming began.
Soon after, they hoisted the flag of supporting the New Player Experience and New Players in general. Founding The Learning Coalition. A few Dust University members, myself being one, joined the channel and helped out with what we knew or provided ISK for those who requested it for skill book purchases, or equipment purchases.
Dust University had finally moved back into PC during the FEC vs EoN war, negotiating with both sides to have Hrober V as a neutral planet, of which I was part of the negotiations. The Learning Coalition had yet to actually launch what would be their first series of their forum based attacks. When Dust University announced it's public lecture on meta-gaming, the first shots were fired, though covertly with the addition of a fourth member in their little gang, a corporation hopper known as Dachande Anasazi. Who came into Dust University looking to assist the corporation, only to leave after an incident. In the end he publicly posted a now deleted thread in which he personally attacked specific members of the leadership.
Fox and Artificer Ghost both supported this thread openly. Thus clued me, and the CEO of D-UNI in that something foul was afoot. We continued on with our day-to-day operations after the thread was removed.
About a month later, IG and Bojo enter PC after O'Dell's training request was deliberately ignored by Dust University. A day after they enter Planetary Conquest, Ancient Exiles reforms PFC, calling Dust University to speak with them diplomatically. Diplomats were sent, but not received by AE. The Learning Coalition was clearly behind these attacks as well, to remove their own competition out from Planetary Conquest.
And now you have this thread. Which about sums everything up. |
