CCP FoxFour wrote:So I guess I maybe play with a bit of a different mind set.
Basically I took Gallente Logistics suits up to proto level and that is the ONLY thing I have at proto level. I then got all the light weapons to at least standard level, that took like all of a couple matches or a days passive SP. Then after playing with all the light weapons a bit I started picking out the ones I liked most and got those to advanced level.
I am currently working my way through getting all the light weapons to advanced, upgrading some core skills (hacking, armor, shield, and CPU/PG skills). Basically since I am terrible at the game and wont use Proto stuff outside of PC matches I just get as much stuff to advanced so I can play around with ALL of it and have fun with all of it.
I will say though I have Gallente Logistics maxed and the only other suit I have is Caldari medium suits to advanced. No other racial suits. But I am having a blast just flipping between weapons and fits as my mood suits me.
Just realized the other day exactly how much I love shotguns. Think I will get myself a decent scout suit and shotgun next.
Anyways, TLDR is dont try and go max on stuff. Go basic on everything, then go slightly better on the things you kind of enjoy, and only max out the things you really love. Other then that just get as much stuff to advanced to add variety. It also means being able to test all the things whenever they are balanced or tweaked.
Hometime for me now though as it's almost 1AM. :(
i have all racial suits to level 1 but my amarr assault is level 3 and minmatar logistics is at 3.
all my weapons are at 3 but i have proto sr and lvl 4 ar with all side-arms at 1
i have a gunnlogi, madruager, caldari logi lav, python and i might get the Incubus.
i have all equipment to at least 1, lvl 2 grenades and lvl 2 RE's
even though i can have many different fitts i can only make 30 |

Sure, I dabbled into tanks and logi LAVs a little bit, but beyond that I've been hardlined at dropship piloting. Now, I am approaching 4M unspent SP, waiting for the pilot suit. Do you know how hard it is to get shot down time and time again, have no money to get back up in the air, and think how easily you could be in an advanced suit with proto mods with 4M SP? But no, I will stick it out...
It just sucks because saving SP has made it so I really have no reason to play regularly. I am not regularly rewarded for my efforts. I will be eventually, but I'm not gaining new skills every few days. I'm just sitting.. |

All the rumors confirmed!
I do have some problems with the roadmap though. You once said we will have PvE when Uprising hits. The last we heard was that you currently aren't working on it and that it's shelved for now. Have you started working on it again? If yes I can believe that "Sometime in 2014" But at the moment this seems a little bit unrealistic for me, when it's still shelved. |

thats awful advice tbqh so at this rate if someone wants to be competitive in PC or any corp battles they gotta wait like what now? 6-8 months? already takes ppl from scratch like 4+ months to get a proper fit maxed |

Don't forget, CCP isn't active in PC. They would never be able to keep up. It will remain as a mystery that people will want to be competitive quickly to be able to contribute.
Besides, the longer and more diverse your route through the skill tree, the more likely you are to buy boosters when it finally comes time to start really upgrading. Clever moves by the devs, encouraging people to waste their SP. |

Soon, this expression has been trademarked by CCP. Soon is 3 to 4 more months.
But if you think about Eve, a gigantic massive universe much like our own where time is mostly irrelevant and relative to the speed you are traveling.
So their definition of SOON is very much different then our own. A whole year is soon.

Most weapons and a couple of different frames at standard) really doesn't take that much SP, and encouraging people to try a range of weapons and suits instead of immediately going full cal/gal logi + AR can only be a good thing.
EDIT: Yes early specialisation is pretty essential, but specialising too early can be a bad thing as well. |

Truth, and do the devs really play PC, find that hard to believe. It has taken me 4 months to be where I am with tanks. 9mil sp took roughly 5 months. My biggest regret, I went gunnlogi. Jokes compared to maddies |

Interesting.
Based on the pace and timing of previous updates, version 1.7 should be out in early December.

Maybe, but I'm sure there's some of the long-view that tends to take place in EVE. Specialize in one thing quickly to be of use, and then go try a bunch of things because the road is long, and power shifts continually.

I'm curious if that's a realistic expectation - 1.6 is just going to be a few engine enhancements and small things, 1.7 is going to be the major content/rebalance patch. Given that we're on a monthly basis, that would mean that 1.7 is coming out in December....... So.... Uhhh.....
PvE in 2014.5? Is there a parallel dimension I'm not aware of O_o???

Feel the same way as OP. I got to level 2 on Gallente Scout before I said "no more!" I'm going to wait for Caldari Scout and not drop another sp point into suits until then. Of course, not knowing when that will happen I'm perfectly happy skilling into core skills. And remember: score skills count for every suit. So I'm actually improving my caldari scout for whenever it comes out!
Oh I bet it will look awesome and sexy and work like a dream!! Goodbye K/D ratio, hello suit I'm finally happy with! |
