So I guess I maybe play with a bit of a different mind set.
Basically I took Gallente Logistics suits up to proto level and that is the ONLY thing I have at proto level. I then got all the light weapons to at least standard level, that took like all of a couple matches or a days passive SP. Then after playing with all the light weapons a bit I started picking out the ones I liked most and got those to advanced level.
I am currently working my way through getting all the light weapons to advanced, upgrading some core skills (hacking, armor, shield, and CPU/PG skills). Basically since I am terrible at the game and wont use Proto stuff outside of PC matches I just get as much stuff to advanced so I can play around with ALL of it and have fun with all of it.
I will say though I have Gallente Logistics maxed and the only other suit I have is Caldari medium suits to advanced. No other racial suits. But I am having a blast just flipping between weapons and fits as my mood suits me.
Just realized the other day exactly how much I love shotguns. Think I will get myself a decent scout suit and shotgun next.
Anyways, TLDR is dont try and go max on stuff. Go basic on everything, then go slightly better on the things you kind of enjoy, and only max out the things you really love. Other then that just get as much stuff to advanced to add variety. It also means being able to test all the things whenever they are balanced or tweaked.

Not really. We spend all day every day making the game so when we go home we often want to play other games. While at work we are playing on internal test servers, so none of that gives us SP or ISK on our player characters. As developers it is also really good that we do go play other games. On top of all that I do log CCP FoxFour. on every now and then and again the SP he gets doesn't apply to my player character.
It's all pretty normal in the games industry for players to play the game a LOT more than devs do at home. Game Designer // Team True Grit http://twitter.com/regnerba |

I really can't, all I can do is quote CCP Praetorian and reiterate that we are still committed to the grand vision of Dust, p2p trading, more influence on the EVE universe and meaningful endgame for mercs. Both in the short, mid and long term. We try to let those principles guide us in what we do.

Obviously, 1.5 and 1.6 expansions are lighter than we planned for, but much of that work has shifted into 1.7, so if all goes well, 1.7 will be beefy. The stuff that was in 1.5 and the enhancements in 1.6 are still solid and should be well received.
New content wise, the new outposts are good and we all know that not having racial suits is not optimal, I am myself waiting for Gallente heavy, saving up SP in the meantime (not going well, I keep spending it on core skills)
All that said and done, I play the game every day and we are aware of most things mentioned here on the forums, matchmaking, performance, balance and we try to prioritize as well as we can against new features.

PVE is definitely on the roadmap, not 1.7, but not as late as 2015 |

This way new players could and should try a lot without "wasting" SP into things they don't like and becoming frustrated.
CCP Rattati what do you say to this? :)
We want to make the game more accessible at the beginning and allow people to highly specialize or diversify without frustration.
Each and every path isn't going to be optimal path, like any mmo, there will be a "best" fit, but we want to support player choice and expression.
I don't have the stamina to max out all the AR skills, like reload time etc, I much prefer redeploying tactically and based on the situation. To allow that, we can't have the initial investment be to steep. But then again, I don't expect maximum efficiency out of my badly skilled heavy, or standard sniper outfit. |
