Okay so I'm reading along in this thread, laughing at some things and shaking my head at others. I'll tell you what, I think it's a blast trying to take out someone in proto gear. It's challenging. I run around in a standard or advanced suit, varying on mood, the few proto stuff on me being some links or a few guns. **cough plasmacannon/charge rifle cough**

I get an adrenaline rush when I see glowing red eyes, strafe around, and get him with quite a few shots with a shotgun, or my all time favorite. Standard Gallente Scout with A Toxin (standard as far as I know) assault rifle with a kill on a proto heavy. I earned it, even if he does get me back three times over.

What I am curious about though, is whether or not any of you who do run in proto gear and auto red line, miss the challenge? Not saying that it always works out with an auto red line cuz that's ridiculous. But it's a prime example. When a game stops being challenging for me, it's not worth playing anymore. And this game, at the very least, causes me to cuss in three languages once a day. Tis a fantastic bonus!

When I run with the team that has a proto squad in it it is just as boring and one sided as when you are opposite that group. The only time it is fun is when the teams are pretty balanced and there is give and take.

Posts like this should come across as concern for game development and balance as a product rather than a narrow-minded view of game play that only serves to inflate one's own ego. Forget what you can do in the game as your make-believe alter ego and worry about how the game works as a product that is going to retain a player base.

I'll make the point again that everyone is going to eventually be in proto level gear. More players will play that are more skilled. The difference is those who justify easy, cheap game play with zero sportsmanship versus playing in the spirit in which the game was designed. Who cares how many pixels you can shoot?

You are exploiting a poorly developed feature and justifying it for lols. What are you going to do when that feature is gone? Complain that you are losing too much despite better game balance and overall enjoyment?

You can go to any poorly developed game and be number one at exploiting the bad game balance. A good game with good balance can be supported by anybody regardless of how good they are at it or if they even play at all.

Every time you Proto Stomp a battle you making new players leave, and by doing so you costing CCP money because they losing potential new costumers. Some of us understand this and use only Advanced gear for the benefit of everyone.

But you carry on being salvage... your stats and personal satisfaction is much more important than the game.

There are plenty of reasons to leave this game other than a protostomping; and who's to say that CCP isn't losing CCP money by failing to implement a proper matchmaking system? I agree with OP. There's other stuff to worry about, besides not everyone quits from getting stomped early in an FPS game career. -plenty of people buckle-down and knuckle-up.

but yea the proto stomping isnt the issue the game mechanics are 80% of why alot of the good players are leaving is because of lag. failure of devs working to keep their promis on the game and stuff like that i think proto stomping is the least of this games issue.

In pubs anything above advanced gear is trying pretty hard.

the real problem is heavies with assault rifles who are seriously compensating for a SERIOUS lack of skill.

If you have to have 1000 armour just to be able to use an AR then you are a scrub.

Also LOL at people who pull out 2+ tanks at a time in pub matches.

People use proto as a crutch more than "they've earned it".
