At what level are the core mechanics good enough?
What do you feel are the requirements to move past an optimization driven phase and into a content driven phase of development?
* the theory being that CCP does not want to release new content into a shoddy game, because it will lose their one chance to retain the influx of players who come from it. |

My theory is, that they don't have anything to release. They would like to do so, but they don't have anything. |

Perhaps in 6 more months.
I have a feeling CCP is arbitrarily holding off new content because content brings people in but they want to wait until they first get Dust to a point that it can actually hold people in as well. CCP says they aren't arbitrarily holding it off, but then I'd like an explanation for why it takes over 5 months to create 2 heavies and 3 lights which should have been a priority ever since Uprising hit.
People can put up with a less-than-perfect "core" so long as they have plenty of variety. |

Well that's assumed too but meaning if they could do it tomorrow, they wouldn't. |

That is possible. But I think they are just incapable. Not all of them, some seems to work, like the guy who is manipulating the "most buy" stuff on in marked board, or the one who is adding extraordinary expansive booster stuff to the marked. |

I guess it wouldn't be arbitrarily holding off then but that's what I'm getting at.
At what point is core "good enough". Or what basic features do they want in the game BEFORE they bring in new suits and vehicles?
Obviously everything so far was on that list, and the things coming up like Factional Warfare changes, squad finder, vehicle re-work, |

I suspect they got set back scrambling to hotfix the game-breaking problems in 1.4, and have hit a major wall in implementing the vehicle/weapon changes that go deep into the core gameplay code. It may require some significant code refactoring and optimization that will take a lot more time and resources than they had planned on in their roadmap. I don't see why we can't get the missing 3 heavies and 2 scouts though unless the art isn't finished or they haven't figured out what the slots, bonuses should be (but that shouldn't take very long to figure out and can be balanced after release if necessary). |

ok ok. I don't want to be mean, I'm sorry. This is just the frustration speaking out of me. It will end very soon, I promise. I'm caring less and less, playing less and less, it is only a mater of time.
There are chances that I loose any interest in Dust even before November.
But to be fair here, I would continue playing Dust if it makes to the PS4. (for several reasons) |

Well when you get to talking about something that's supposed to be an MMO, combined with the fact that it "released" missing half of the symmetrical content required in the game so far...
I'd say as far as per-maturely released MMO's go you could expect new content every 3-6 months.
But this also assume that the game started off with enough content to last that long in the first place.

Yes and don't forget the thing when CCP announced that they are going to release rapid-fire patches, that we will see content and not attempts to repair a fresh released game. Right? :)

It's worse for a game like Dust. Where you have to permanently spec into areas, some of which you may have to hold off on for >2 years?
Or spec into the closest thing to eventually have a wasted 7 million when the race you Really wanted comes out. |

I can't agree any more! If we had a PVE option to play, a real and meaningful way to interact with EVE, and FFS just two more lights, 3 more heavies, and 6 more vehicles variants then I wouldn't mind if we had to wait 12 months between updates.
The problem with Dust is it doesn't even feel like it's been released, rather it feels like we are still waiting for CCP to finish the most basic and trivial aspects which are taking an absurdly long time. I mean, when did closed beta start? Getting on close to two years now? How have they not at the very least given a racial variant of each of the core frame sizes? |

Yes. I would need a lot less new stuff.

A better example could be that I still enjoy SNES classics. If it's fully done, and done well, I really don't need a lot of new patches. DarkSouls took over a year to give an add on, and I don't even expect to see one. |

I have dropped 10 Million SP toons because I was forced to specc certain roles I never wanted to play, just to be useful to my corp, I have spent more SP on the only roles and content features they have put into the game instead of those I have wanted to.
I'm happy playing what I do now, but they are not the roles I would have imagined I would be doing, nor those I would be most interested in playing. Its just a bit of a let down to see such a great game failing to deliver what should have been in it from launch.
I'll suffer on in the hopes we finally get what drew us to this game in the first place. |

But how long do people generally play other games for....
I'll play till i complete a game, maybe go back for a 2nd run on "hard" setting, if i liked it
other than that, a new game lasts me from a week, to a month, its the multiplayer that keeps me there and while people ***** about a "new" release, say of cod, evey year, theres a reason why they sell so much, same for the over priced map packs
unless you got a fecking awesome game, people get tired of the same ol sh!t, i've been playing dust for over a year, and the only thing keeping me here is my obssesion with the skill tree and sp grind, i afk my 190 a week since uprising, as the game itsself, while has potential, is fecking crap, i think alot of us are just hanging around on broken promises, and slowly but surely, getting tired of ccp's incompetence
core mechanics? .. they get worse not better, we've spent since uprising fixing **** that wasnt broken before, aiming and framerate issues, its like were going backwards every ******* update
At this point i dont even blame the devs, but who evers running the show, making **** choice after **** choice, needs a a kick up the arse

side note on dark souls:
It was a content complete single player game (technically online, quasi multiplayer) Not meant for finding or playing with friends.
Also it was never intended to have a DLC. FromSoft just decided for whatever reason to add some more detail to their story and cash in on it way later. Maybe it was ideas that couldn't make it by Launch deadline but they still wanted to use those boss ideas. |

I have a lot of SL level chars, working on a soul level 200 murderer. This game is so much fun, even farming is done so very very well!
Back to the discussion. I'm waiting for the very first to jump in here and remember us all that this is free to play, and we don't need to play it, and that if we drop money, it is our own fault. This person will be probably right. But I'm not agreeing on the fact that if it's free, they can do what ever they want with us.
Look I would have payed 60Gé¼ for this game, and I would pay for well done DLs, I'm saying this to get this out of way.
So back to the "it is free stuff". CCP has used our leap of faith that we gave them, they used the money that we dash forward, so I think that we are in the position to demand something. After all, without US, CCP would have no one who would back this game up. And a company should be very careful if they are thinking the way some fans are doing here: "it's free, you can go bal bla bla".
