It's worse for a game like Dust. Where you have to permanently spec into areas, some of which you may have to hold off on for >2 years? Or spec into the closest thing to eventually have a wasted 7 million when the race you Really wanted comes out. That's about it.
I have dropped 10 Million SP toons because I was forced to specc certain roles I never wanted to play, just to be useful to my corp, I have spent more SP on the only roles and content features they have put into the game instead of those I have wanted to.
I'm happy playing what I do now, but they are not the roles I would have imagined I would be doing, nor those I would be most interested in playing. Its just a bit of a let down to see such a great game failing to deliver what should have been in it from launch.
I'll suffer on in the hopes we finally get what drew us to this game in the first place. |

I can't agree any more! If we had a PVE option to play, a real and meaningful way to interact with EVE, and FFS just two more lights, 3 more heavies, and 6 more vehicles variants then I wouldn't mind if we had to wait 12 months between updates. The problem with Dust is it doesn't even feel like it's been released, rather it feels like we are still waiting for CCP to finish the most basic and trivial aspects which are taking an absurdly long time. I mean, when did closed beta start? Getting on close to two years now? How have they not at the very least given a racial variant of each of the core frame sizes? Yes. I would need a lot less new stuff. meri jin wrote:Aeon Amadi wrote:Question, how long do you guys usually go without new content for other games? You mean if the game is complete? I'm still playing DarkSouls since 2011. A better example could be that I still enjoy SNES classics. If it's fully done, and done well, I really don't need a lot of new patches. DarkSouls took over a year to give an add on, and I don't even expect to see one. You play DKS?
PSN me we could duel. I'm rusty but I used to be a pretty damn nasty player. Ex Dickwraith, and one of Nito's most feared children. I cannot wait for DKS II. |

I have a lot of SL level chars, working on a soul level 200 murderer. This game is so much fun, even farming is done so very very well!
Back to the discussion. I'm waiting for the very first to jump in here and remember us all that this is free to play, and we don't need to play it, and that if we drop money, it is our own fault. This person will be probably right. But I'm not agreeing on the fact that if it's free, they can do what ever they want with us.
Look I would have payed 60Gé¼ for this game, and I would pay for well done DLs, I'm saying this to get this out of way.
So back to the "it is free stuff". CCP has used our leap of faith that we gave them, they used the money that we dash forward, so I think that we are in the position to demand something. After all, without US, CCP would have no one who would back this game up. And a company should be very careful if they are thinking the way some fans are doing here: "it's free, you can go bal bla bla".
I tend to hang around the lower soul levels builds are more direct and less rounded making combat more paper scissors rock styles.
I'm always between 50-80. |

Though those were all great back in the day, me being one of the latter temple knights. |

Kill first if they want to duel for their honour later because they think Im a scrub Im only to happy to kick their ass again.
Its possibly the one pvp game I have been exceptionally good at. |

I have a feeling CCP is arbitrarily holding off new content because content brings people in but they want to wait until they first get Dust to a point that it can actually hold people in as well. CCP says they aren't arbitrarily holding it off, but then I'd like an explanation for why it takes over 5 months to create 2 heavies and 3 lights which should have been a priority ever since Uprising hit.
People can put up with a less-than-perfect "core" so long as they have plenty of variety. I guess it wouldn't be arbitrarily holding off then but that's what I'm getting at. At what point is core "good enough". Or what basic features do they want in the game BEFORE they bring in new suits and vehicles? Obviously everything so far was on that list, and the things coming up like Factional Warfare changes, squad finder, vehicle re-work, How about: 1) terrain that doesn't grab you 2) Massive invisible hitboxes around installations 3) A completely broken tier system If they can fix those 3 gems, have at the new content.
Sure these are the glaring issues but the game is passable enough that adding new content would keep the player base interested until CCP can fix these issues. If they spent the next X months just dealing with those problem half the player base would be gone for lack of things to do, or new shinies.
Sure I want those fixed as much as you but what I want more is an enjoyable, engaging, and deep game to play. |

Thats where they went wrong imo, it was about dueling (demon souls), 1v1 pvp, was a good laugh, and so many builds was always something different, somehow they managed to kill it, sure invading noobs while they playing was cool, but for me, the fun was in blatent 1 v 1 fight, aka 4.1 sl 120 or below, good times You could duel I DKS, but the thing about the Souls series is not the player meta, its the griefing, the harshness of players as they try to kill other players struggling to reach the boss, that is what souls is about.
I loved gravelording in the Tombs of the Giants. RED PHANTOM SKELEDOGS. OHKO no matter who you were. |

OHKO no matter who you were. thats the difference, i dont care to grief other players, i play fps since doom, i dont care to gank some scrub, i want straight up fight, which was easy to organise in demon souls, less so in dark souls Wikispaces FC still goes on weekly against the most skilled duellers of the 3rd gen forumers. The 2 gen, my gen and personally the best fighters, are gone now. DKS II may let us get back together.
Griefing is in the spirit of Souls though, its what the game is about, human nature. Shall I help or be a total **** head? The latter almost always is the case. |

Got ya coverd their titains and the old monarchy faction apprently. I think it has loot but it's more about developing your toon and your chosen gun. They are also very big on the community building as well see their live events. One of which is pretty epic tbh I'm all for the psychic powers but I would go Heavily armoured bad ass if the team needed me too. I'm a team player if nothing else.
Anywho back the main point, still cannot understand why content is on hold when so many people desire it. Gameplay is in a stable place now, add the content, balance it, and then lets fumble through the next see of gameplay changes. |

Please. Invading the Parish at SL15 as a GiantSack 2-handing a lightning Knight Shield NEVER gets old. Getting infinitely pushlocked by 8000 lol2kat users in a row got old pretty quickly. Dude try Gravelording there, the newbies cant handle the phantoms so they come to you, farming EoD's is easy, even when you agree to duel them with base level weapons, I counter grief Dark wraiths since my invasion time is set to 0 with base rapiers or Great Scythes. They try using OHKO back stabbing weapons.....
But back to main point. CONTENT ME UP ! |

Aero Yassavi wrote:Destiny looks cool, but it's actually not all that unique. Sure many people bring up the Borderlands comparisons, but even more similar is the 2013 game DEFIANCE which is pretty much the exact same concept with the community building thing and live events.
Also I believe many are going to be disappointed with Destiny because of some bad wording by Activision. They said they have a 10 year plan for Destiny, but that is actually referring to the franchise, not the boxed product game you will buy in stores. From the sounds of it, Destiny will be one of those games you buy at the store, get some DLC for, then a year or two later buy the sequel and transfer save files. Indeed you are probably right. Oddly enough Aero as I play Amarr I dust now I cannot look for any faction other than the knightly, good, wholesome, and radiant faction anymore |
