I rarely post on forums but now I think it's a good cause. Pardon my english, I'm brazilian.
"You have been scanned" "You have scanned" All the time.
I tried the advance for myself and it's a joke. It's OP and kills any tactics. Flanking is dead, now everyone knows where everyone else is at now. Why don't we just remove all covers from the map and shoot at each other in the open and whoever has the most HP/DPS wins.
The only way to counter that scanner I think it's to play a scout with dampener. Everyone else is doomed to stay forever on the enemy scan.
Either nerf the scanner to 2 seconds max (just to get a glimpse of the enemy is enough not this BS scanner)
or remove it entirely and put back team shared vision.

Good scouts now have a purpose!
Seriously. Lower your profile. If you dual tank, you need the extra eHP to survive the fact that you WILL be noticed.
Thats what makes scouts so good at flanking now. If played right, we can be hard to detect, and able to quickly flank an opponent.
Remember, as people become more and more reliant on scanners, the Better Scouts and suits with low profiles will be. Use some tactics! Not every problem has to be solved by throwing a Dual Tank AR at it! |

I don't see a problem with it. And besides, if you're in a non-scout suit, then it's likely you're in a group and often times being in a group can discourage lone mercs from attacking you anyways even if they scanned you down. It's a trade off that everyone here has to live with. Frankly, you're the first person I have seen since the beginning of this month to ever complain about the active scanners and want them nerfed. If it took this long for someone like you to complain about it, then it looks like the active scanners are not as OP as you make it out to be. Besides, it doesn't take up that much SP to train up your profile dampening skills a bit so you can at least avoid the standard-level scanners which most of us are probably using at the moment. |

Its not breaking the game, you just don't like it.
I thought it was broken before when everyone knew where everyone was at all times pretty much. Scouts can now spot for snipers by scanning. |

If you are a medium frame and have level 5 profile dampening, the normal scanners won't pick you up. If you are a shield tanker you can probably afford to use any spare low slots for further profile dampening against higher tier scanners. If you are a heavy frame you're don't have much of a chance to hide from scanners. If you are a scout, well congratulations - you have your first advantage!

30 days ago the entire team saw anyone that anybody in your team saw (or perhaps only the squad), but either way. That's insane.
You don't see uplinks anymore unless you scan them.
And you've removed a piece of equipment such as an uplink, injector, nanohive, repair tool, or even a remote explosive from a logi.

Then don't try to solo objectives. Yeah, your job is to assault, but that doesn't mean you can walk anywhere with impunity.. ESPECIALLY if they know where you are. Stick with your squad, move cover to cover, and be ready for the enemy. Get your own scanners. Find out where they are. Send scouts and suits with low profiles to flank.
Yeah you are right that scanning has kinda killed flanking for Medium and Heavy frames. But it has given the light frame a purpose that it has sorely needed for awhile. |

Even if I'm playing with a squad. Defending Squad scans Attacking squad, Attacking squad scans defending squad. And now everyone (defender and assaulters) knows EXACTLY where every individual is. It's silly.

So, like the previous build. I hear you but stealth is for tactical positioning and infiltration. Once the lines are drawn and it's one team assaulting a defender then stealth becomes less critical. It's now a slug fest.
Overall, I think scanning has made tactics a lot more interesting and made the scout role, if not the suit, required for good squad play. If you don't prefer brute force, toe-to-toe combat then you can dampen yourself to disappear from advanced scanners. Some squads are adapting but more often it's the lone wolves. The most epic fights I've had lately is when I come across another solo scanner and neither of us can scan each other due to dampening. |

Silly? Dude, that's a good thing. What are you talking about? That kind of stuff changes the dynamics of the gameplay and thus encourages you to think more tactically rather than just running around guns ablaze. Almost everyone I spoke to (most of whom are non-scouts) seem to enjoy themselves more. The game is finally becoming tactical as it should rather than just becoming a typical lobby shooter. |

My gripe is the scanner that lasts for 16 seconds (havent checked the prototypes) when the effect runs out u just renew it.
I would be fine if it lasted 16 seconds but had a 30+ seconds cooldown. This way you have to time well your scans because there is a brief moment where your squad is blind and thats the time to attack.
But this ways is know where your enemy is 100% of the time.
At least the attacking squad would have at 15 seconds to surprise the defenders. Think of it as a surprise attack where the defenders struggle at the beginning until their scans fires again.

For every six man squad one guy is spending at least part of his time painting enemy targets. That's one soldier in six that is not carrying another piece of equipment and is not spending 100% of his time putting rounds down range. Also, if you do a full 360 spin the targets aren't fully painted so you see them briefly but they don't stay lit.
Once squads are within 100 meters of each other the battle is on and you better have people that are spending time with the scanner out to avoid surprises. Wow, a new role on the battlefield. I'm actually a little surprised at how well that worked out.

With my suggestion the scout still can mark targets for the snipers. But 16 seconds is too much. A few seconds is enough to flash the enemy, knows where he is so the sniper can kill him.
You don't need to mark the enemy 100% of the time.
