I'm not saying remove active scanners entirely, just nerf the time of effect or increase cooldown time.
Just a few seconds is enough to gain a huge advantage over the enemy.
16 seconds and then u just renew with another 16 seconds as soon as it's over = EASY MODE

I tried the advance for myself and it's a joke. It's OP and kills any tactics. Flanking is dead, now everyone knows where everyone else is at now. Why don't we just remove all covers from the map and shoot at each other in the open and whoever has the most HP/DPS wins.
The only way to counter that scanner I think it's to play a scout with dampener. Everyone else is doomed to stay forever on the enemy scan.
Either nerf the scanner to 2 seconds max (just to get a glimpse of the enemy is enough not this BS scanner)
or remove it entirely and put back team shared vision.
Sounds like the scanner works then. It's a very CPU / PG intensive slot, second only to uplinks I think. It gives yu and advantage on par with uplinks...if used properly. |

jesus - everything to this community is easy mode. First it was heavies, then missiles, then laser, then flaylock, then MD, then forge, and AR will always be called easy mode. And now... SCANNERS.
I'm still waiting for someone to say dropships are easy mode. |

Even with a shorter duration or increased cooldown it will still be a important equipment.
You don't need to track everyone all the time. Just a few seconds is enough to discover the red dots and then murder them. |

The quantum scanners are pretty powerful. I can see tweaking them.

With my suggestion the scout still can mark targets for the snipers. But 16 seconds is too much. A few seconds is enough to flash the enemy, knows where he is so the sniper can kill him.

And you don't. The 16 second scanner doesn't scan as low as the other scanners. They all have different attributes.
Some go farther out, some appear on the tacnet longer, some go down to 28 db but only appear for a few seconds.
Might as well complain about nanohives while you are at it. |

There are 3 ISK variants for advanced scanners and they are basically the same. One is cheaper, the other costs less PG/CPU and the other lasts for 16 seconds. They all have the same precision. But the 16 seconds one is the one to go unless u didnt max your core skills to improve your PG/CPU. |

Depending on the details I can easily see random blues just scanning non stop just to get those points. Okey dokey... Currently if multiple people scan an enemy they will all get the assist for the kill. Only kills from squad mates will net you WP. Kill assists from squad members will not net you any WP.

It is not even close to game breaking. No one ran active scanners (that I knew of) before the switch. Now? Not even a large minority are running them. They are quite easy to counter, if you want to. Not many things in this game have a hard counter, but active scanners do. |

Active scanners made this game all together more interesting. Your squad needs to stay tighter to get the full benefit. Scouts now have a role on the field. Im a full time scanner now. I have had to drop injectors and rely on other members. But i have to say i love my scanner. Think of it like a UAV from cod. Simple. |

If Scanners were EASY MODE, then everyone would use them. If everyone used them, then we'd back to Shared Sight. The only thing that has changed is that there is now benefit to having a Dampened Profile.

When I run medium suits, in 90% of games I play people only are using advanced or lower scanners, meaning all I need is a single complex profile dampener to remain undetected. If they use the proto scanners (28dB) I need two dampeners. I don't bother trying to dodge the 15dB scanner because it requires too many slots for anyone but a scout.
Unless you are a heavy, it is very easy to avoid scans if you put points into dampening.
If you don't want to skill into dampening, shut up and get scanned. |

In closed beta it was common to lodge a Dropship on top of a tower and shoot at everything that moved with small missiles. Back then we had vision across the entire map, as swell as explosives actually had BLAST radius. Dropships were both durable and easy to fly on top of that! Basically the map was blanketed by missile fire from Dropships on top of towers. Average lifespan outside of cover was about 5 seconds.
Heavy retaliation resulted in the blimps we have now.... |

I'm not complaining about being scanned, as I said I have proto dampeners and I'm using advanced scanner.
I'm not asking to remove it also, just to tweak it. I'm complaining about the duration of the scan.
Fire the scanner, light them up on the minimap for 4 secs max. It's still very useful and I will still use it.
16 seconds on the quantum scanner is enough to light them up 24/7. <- This is broken. |
