I think heavies are fine. I run a heavy suit and i got 506 shields and 803 armour. The only change is mabey make the hmg a little better at mid range. Make it havebetter dispersion or less heat up for the hmg like before it got nerfed in 1.4 |

I played my heavy alt last night, after reading all the QQ on the forums, expecting to be annihalated. First match, I went 13 - 5. I only played an hour, so maybe I need to give it some more time, but I'm actually fine with how things are. Seems like I take a bit more damage, but it also seems like I put guys down faster because of the fixes to hit detection in CQC, which is where heavies should be doing most of their fighting anyways.
Time will tell, of course, but as a heavy I'm ok with the update so far.

pub games =/= PC games. Playing against noobs you'll never see how strong or weak a class is. If I run with my Duvolle in pubs vs Militia suits and guns, can I say i beasted?
When I see heavies in pubs I run in knowing I can strafe past the horrible HMG dispersion. Which equals low DPS, while my AR won't miss a single shot.
ARs out DPS HMGs... I don't think people realize this yet. |

If we are to get a buff, it better not be EHP, because that would be boring.
I agree with more EHP for heavies though you might want to possible consider the idea of armor/shield hardeners as heavy exclusive, being that they are close to mini vehicles themselves. |

Also, it's not the heavy suit, it's the damn HMG. If you want to see how the HMG should work, look at the Brutal Doom mod. ADS button controls spool up, but it's loud enough to alert enemies in proximity. If you fire before spooling up, it takes longer for the cross hairs to narrow than if you spooled the weapon up. Add this to Dust with the old overheat skill mechanic and have spooling up affect optimal range and you have a perfectly balanced HMG. Instead, you're pretty much a sitting duck before your cross hairs narrow in this current twitch style of play. |

If CCP reduced the number of rounds per magazine and drum, there would be more of a need to play tactical. Now that hit detection and aim assist are working, DPS has risen greatly allowing us to spray 60 - 425 rounds with no worries about running out of ammo. I see no problem with 30 rounds in an AR because of pin point accuracy, 200 in an HMG to keep it a suppressive weapon and because of ROF, and 50 in an SMG to keep it's total damage similar to the AR. Increase the scrambler pistol clip to 10 to put its total damage output similar to ARs and SMGs so players can use it as a primary weapon if they want.
I don't know about sniper rifles. I usually use a shotgun or HMG but it seems to me like there is less sniper activity.
This is an approximation of what I would have liked to see in Dust from the beginning. |

This happened to me yesterday, I was using my HMG from quite a distance from a severely damaged player, I turned and put just a few rounds in that player to kill them. I imagine they assumed an HMG did all the damage and that my HMG had too much range. |

i would normally say a buff heavy thread is crazy but i played my heavy alt yesterday and got destroyed (please note though i have proto forge guns basic HMG's and a militia suit because im gimping myself until we get the other heavy suits) but my main problems seemed to be they lowed strafe speed so heavy's are now even slower while strafing fixed hit detection so their bullets always register and worst of all aim assist which is self explanatory
the problem is how slow heavy's are how ineffective at range HMG's are and how the enemy pretty much CANNOT miss you and its worse on most wide open maps because heavy's have no way to close the distance if they had a forge gun why would they want to close the distance and with an HMG you can't take out the enemy from that far to clear the area to close the distance
but as i said the main problem here is the enemy literally can't miss and that's if they hadn't just thrown a grenade at your feet and ran away already |

You make some good points. I'd like to see the dispersion rate go down a bit for the HMG, but not sure how much QQ that would lead to. The dispersion rate diminishes the longer you fire (the circle reticle gets tighter), so it would be nice to see the circle tighten quicker, and a slight boost to the ADS turn speed. That might be enough to give heavies the edge back in CQC.

First this guy. Heavies are repped by logis and hives then go away. CCP wont read these non stop qqing. Heavies isnt soo bad. If you get killed by AR you did wrong. sub 20m nothing outdamages a HMG, it can deal 900 dps. the SMG and AR are not even close to capable of dealing such amounts of dps. that dps obviously comes with drawbacks, namely range and accuracy. you cant really expect to do this dps beyond that range, it would be totally overpowered.

I find it very hard to take anyone from D3lta Academy seriously, but I'll try..
1) Heavies don't always have Logistics support. Expecting that is unfair, when every other class is self-sustaining. 2) Logistics players don't always play Logistics. Just ask your tryhard corp mates, and the large # of shield-stacking CalLogi's that play just for kills. 3) Heavies have no equipment slots, so cannot deploy armor repairing hives 4) If CQC was our role, the HMG would be vastly superior in damage output to an AR. As it stands, it's only minimally better in CQC. 5) The rest of what you said makes no sense. |

Nothing has changed with heavies since the introduction of the aim assist. We were always easy to shoot. I do not notice a difference. The suits its really affecting is the light and medium frame users as it renders stafing useless. We already got our hp buff with the change to armor plates. I can't say that I wouldn't appreciate more hp, but I can honestly say that heavies are fine right now. |

Heavy's need a buff. I think resistance (say 35%) to all small arms on BASE armor should be implemented. Trade off is dmg bonus to back attacks. hmg range buff for sure, should fire farther and harder then an ar (hence it being called a heavy mg) at the price of accuracy at range. There's no assault rifles around that fire larger rounds then a general electric minigun for example... At least in rl.
Add some proper dispersion to ar type weapons so spraying doesn't work at range and people have to burst fire it for accuracy (again like rl) and we will reach a better spot with everything.

Sorry if i said anything that was repeated.....saw the OP and am commenting on such.
Aim assist has NOTHING to do with Heavies dying.
It's called hit detection.
Hit detection has increased 100x fold, and Heavies have a larger hitbox then ANY other suit....
THATS why we are gimped.
Stop blaming aim assist for **** that it doesn't affect.

1. I mostly talk about PC (all pubs are assault logis..). And its good. Heavy isnt mean for lone wolf,or lone surviver. Hes a team weapon. 2. PC 3. But logis have 4. AR with prof and dmg does 50dmg. It have 13rounds per second. Its 2/3 hmg dmg. But maybe you right, 90% will go hs with more dmg. 5.Well this make sense |

a lot of what you are experiencing is also "woohoo armor!!! **** shields lets stack damage mods now!!". So yeah... unintended consequences all over the place ... yay.

I recently made a heavy toon to see how I would do using one. I've used it most throughout 1.4 and I have to say I have mixed reviews. Truly I feel that somehow I get out gunned by an AR guy way to quick from 5 meters out but sometimes I just destroy in my hvy built.
I feel like it all about using tactics and getting out of the open. If your a heavy and feel like AR "Scrubs" are killing you way to many times, then don't run in there like rambo and expect to win. Pop your head out of cover, AR guy takes a bit of your shields, since it's 1.4 they don't fear heavies anymore (I know because my main here is AR scrub) , make him lolrun around the corner and blast the poor scrub away.
Also, in a big open map, go sniper hunting it's fun sneaking up on them in a heavy suit and getting the barrel of the HMG just mere inches from their heads before blasting them away. If played right, hvy's are the ultimate trolls.
But maybe we should also get a small HP buff or a resistance to small arms fire. |

Scouts need something, so do heavies. Though I prefer better thought out proposals to just out right HP buffs. Even though I do think scouts really need a HP buff I am open to other ideas.
The heavy on the other hand, how about make it resistant to grenades and explosive damage? or just give it a small but noticeable resistance to any light and sidearm weapon? Make other HMG tear them up however. |
