So I take this, and add it to all the armor changes 1.4 is getting and we have ourselves a good patch. I cant wait for when I don't have to stress over LAV's trying to OHK my proto suit.......
Don't get me wrong, its important that the game remains difficult on some level, but I absolutely HATE OHK tactics. The fact that my 233k proto logi suit can get OHK by a sniper or forge gun pisses me off, and the worst part about it is that you often times cant prevent something like that from happening. I can use my brain to counter the Assault or heavy guy running at me, I cant do anything more then stay inside a building when forge guns or snipers are looking at me, (assuming I was given enough notice to know they were there before they took the shot).
And don't even get me started on Proto grenade spam.......
BUT! AND THIS IS A BIG BUT! With each patch ive noticed more and more annoying things removed from the game and it honestly makes the experience Much better each time, especially when compared to builds like chromosome.
So yeah, keep up the good work CCP! I cant wait for when the game vision becomes a reality! |

Not to be a weirdo about visual design of the FW button on the instant battle menu-- 3 in one row, 1 in a second row? You should alter the spacing to either fit them all in one row or 2 x 2. The weighting of 2 rows and 3 columns for 4 objects looks very very odd for professional design in my opinion. |

LAVs were not that big a problem. people just needed to run more AV. Or actuall invest skill points into AV gear... with this nerf there is no need to use AV gear beyond militia swarms and miltia Forguns.
Well we will see how this plays out. from the way its written, it seems that you can still do damage with an LAV if you hit someone. still, dust players really need to get real and start exploring more weapons and equipment in the game other than just "caldari logistics, sheld and armor plates, AR" |

Soon TAXI's can still just push and run you over.....eventually (what is it going to take them driving up the whole entire staircase -- I still get stuck on every now and again -- for them to kill me?)....it is not like my character plastered to the hood would just crawl over it and put the barrel of the gun up to the nadda windshield and put 60 rounds into their chest or head of said driver.
CCP just because you wrote it down doesn't make it real, any answers for the question from the 1.3 dev blog fiasco....what is the correct # of seconds my caldari logi shield depleted and delayed values should be? It clearly states in black and white that the times should be 5/8 yet in my game they are listed as 6/8. You closed my help ticket about the subject while I was awaiting a response from you guys, as you said that time was needed to research the problem..... that was 2 weeks ago.

The Char is the hardest thing in this game to kill. I've got proto swarms and proto nades.
Unless they get hung up on something after they attempt running someone over it's pretty tough to kill them. |

You failed to read this part right here: Uprising 1.3 saw important behind-the-scenes updates and bug fixes (as I am sure you all can see when in normal match-made battles), as well as the large-scale Planetary Conquest battles. But for the most part, the release focused on stability and performance.
By contrast, Uprising 1.4 is more substantial with regard to user-facing game systems. Let's get into some of the improvements the dev teams have made in the latest release cycle.

Shared squad vision is that if a player on the far north of the map sees a red dot in front of them, so does the friendly blue dot in the squad all the way to the far south, and so does the entire team see the red dots on the mini-map.
Seems to be some sort of buff or actual implementation of the scanners role in the game. |

I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong), it means that you will not be able to see a chevron "pop up" due to another team member looking at a target that you are not currently observing as well. This will be interesting, as most people highlight those specific chevrons to counter-snipe snipers, etc. I guess we will be relying more on the attack order, assuming what I said is the change they are bringing. |

I really like being able to fight for different factions. That's big for me. I play this game for the big picture. I love the idea and want to invest time in it. Anything that allows me to access the world and the story elements of the game are a big plus. It's refreshing to feel like investing in the story isnt going to detract from the SHOOTING.
Love the battle finder as well. Every once in a while I'll get on the star map for about half an hour looking at the different systems. I love it, but eventually I run out of steam as I realize I still can't interact with it in any meaningful way. Appreciate the context here. Also, seeing names like GIX-9 on every system and planet gets old, albeit accurate to how we actually categorize them in real life. More contests to name planets please!
Overall love the changes. But on question, are more plants like trees part of any of the new moods?
EDIT: Read more carefully through some of the comments. Big +1 to squad deployments |

So the RF SI... would that be comparable to the Biomass Outpost or Orbital Artillary Outpost? Because it was my understanding that those were considered large sockets. But the wording here is confusing, its as if the SI outpost is composed of more than just a large socket? Or are you referring to a package of sockets that could show up on other maps now?
Or possibly, you are saying that there really are 'socket families'? Like you will only see large socket A.L.1 with medium sockets A.M.1 and A.M.2 or A.M.3 ? I'm confused at your language here... Please give more detail? |

I like the daily activity progressive bonus system, it is good to reward the highly active players. In the screenshot, it looks like the maximum daily bonus after 7 consecutive days logging in is 6000 SP. Is that going to be the actual amount, or is that just what it was when the screenshot was taken? If so, it seems like the bonus should be a little higher than the equivalent of the SP earned by AFKing for one Skirmish match.
Also, right now it looks like it will be a linear progression, but it would be nice if the bonus increased by more and more each day. It doesn't have to be an exponential increase, just a graduated increase. Logging in 7 days in a row could be much more difficult than logging in 5 or 6 days in a row.
If I took a stab at a proposed daily active SP bonus progression, it would probably look something like this:
3000 SP > 6000 SP > 10000 SP > 15000 SP > 21000 SP > 28000 SP > 36000 SP
This would represent progressively increasing the SP on top of the previous day's rewards of:
0 SP > 3000 SP > 4000 SP > 5000 SP > 6000 SP > 7000 SP > 8000 SP |

Well we will see how this plays out. from the way its written, it seems that you can still do damage with an LAV if you hit someone. still, dust players really need to get real and start exploring more weapons and equipment in the game other than just "caldari logistics, sheld and armor plates, AR" You have never tried to kill a tricked out Charybdis have you? Those things with the shield damage dampeners mods are invincible. 3 proto av nades and you still can't kill half the shield because they drive so fast the AV nades don't track and explode on the vehicle causing damage. |

But seriously... what is 'shared squad vision'? and what effect will disabling it have? as of right now you see red dots on your tacnet that your squad sees. soon you will only be able to share tacnet info if someone is running an active scanner.
Thanks for the response dudes....

In order to better incentivize playing, most sp gains in matches should come from WP gains and less emphasis on being there. Then, to offset the QQ this would cause, allow for cap rollover.

eh... im pretty OCD and even I can look past a relatively minor bonus for logging in, it does however give you something to do for a few games if you log in after the cap.
Overall I think its a positive change. There is absolutely no reason to complain about getting MORE sp each week.

Perhaps even implement a new skill that suppresses the sound made by your weapon. I actually don't think it's *so* bad IF it gives an incentive to skill into and use the active scanner. I could see a strong synergy with Scout suits and active scanning, with bonuses and perhaps even giving scout suits 2 equipment slots to better utilize a scanner and perhaps uplink, etc.
I do think it's problematic that redline snipers can continue to snipe "from the shadows" and it'll be *that* much more difficult to see them, but overall, if this provides an incentive to use something that's underutilized (and if the active scanner would contribute WPs on its use or something similar), then this combined with scout suit bonus synergy could make the scout a valuable position.

When you log in I think it gets added to your bonus pool, so you need to play a match or two to actually earn that SP.

So far some cool stuff, the daily activity is a wonderful idea. Do you continue to get the bonus after capping, or does it just take away from our cap?
Either way would work great for me, as it's either an additional 31k SP which makes it easier for me to cap (saves me about a day of grinding), or it's an additional 31k on top of my cap
I really hope the patch notes tomorrow show that Null's matchmaking is being implemented in 1,4, cause instant battles are becoming absolutely atrocious due to stacked proto squads vs randoms (or randoms with no-so-good squads vs proto squads). The day I see in a blog or patch notes "We will be implementing squad-free modes" is the day this game really changes for me into something I will be able to vastly enjoy on a consistent basis. |

Ah I must have skimmed the part where it says you keep the bonus after Week 1 until you miss a day.
That doesn't discredit my point though. 31.5k and 42k are both really low. I'm not saying I'd rather not have it, but if you're going to introduce something like this, make it sort of worthwhile. |

But seriously... what is 'shared squad vision'? and what effect will disabling it have? I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong), it means that you will not be able to see a chevron "pop up" due to another team member looking at a target that you are not currently observing as well. This will be interesting, as most people highlight those specific chevrons to counter-snipe snipers, etc. I guess we will be relying more on the attack order, assuming what I said is the change they are bringing. Also might make scanners used more.
Yeah, and CCP said in the latest Dev Blog that they were going to start looking at redistributing WP; possibly this has something to do with adding WP to a person when they are using the Active Scanner (and hopefully/furthermore WP for dropships as well). |

Research Facility is the first in a new way we are doing the sockets. Your last guess is pretty much dead on. Research is a full blown outpost, however, the two mediums and four smalls are a part of its set. And you will typically in the future not see them mixed with another set of sockets. They may be loaded in a game mode area that does not use the large outpost, but the mediums and smalls would still be from the set. It's possible additions to these sets will come in the future. All SI's will follow this formula in the future at this time. 1 Large Socket, 2 Medium Sockets, 4 Small sockets.

CCP logic loop i like the idea of a formulaic approach to map construction. it follows natures principleof modular-variation where something familiar is changed and altered in various ways. In this way the maps stay fresh and new and happenin, but the players still have something familiar to recognize in the maps, and they will appreaciate the maps more.
bravo.

A word on SP rollover, now please!
CCP Nothin wrote:Now, in regard to the weekly skill cap and the implications of it:
We acknowledge that the current implementation of the skill cap still isn't quite there yet. It doesn't quite allow people to choose when to play as freely as we would like, and it also adds some unnecessary complexity when it comes to using active boosters. This is why we are working our way towards a rollover SP system: instead having your pool of bonus SP being reset according to a fixed weekly cycle, you will steadily accumulate bonus SP to a pool over time that you can then empty through fighting in battles. As a result, everyone should be able to better choose when to come in and claim the available SP. Moving to such a system would have the added benefit of allowing us to make active boosters to give out a constant value over time by having them influence the rate at which SP accumulates into the pool instead of just multiplying SP received at the end of each battle.

The new battle finder was actually a requirement for delivering our modified matchmaking system. We needed to change how it worked anyway so we took the opportunity to make it more relevant at the same time. The real motivation behind the change is to create more accessible and balanced battles which I think we can all agree is a worthwhile goal. |

No, it's perfectly fine like that from a design and development standpoint, it should either flow left to right and wrap (as it is in the image) or be a bullet list so all four in one vertical line. 2 x 2 would be messy and doesn't allow for automated growth and dynamic design and wouldn't work nicely with an ood system. |

Seems to be some sort of buff or actual implementation of the scanners role in the game.
And this seems pretty smart to me cos it should mean less information being sent within the data packets which means less server-side and local processing unless in situations where it's necessary due to the active scanners! You seem to have weird priorities. SP cap rollover and especially a useless respec system (you get unlimited SP god dammit. There's no need for respec at all) would be just boring. But new maps and installations? That's interesting. |

Dust 514 will be so amazing I can't wait to see what they do on the PlayStation 4. I see galactic warfare going on all throughout New Eden, I'm a power hungry mercenary, I wanna be a mercenary so powerful I could fund war fronts across New Eden, stock pile exotic weapons, vehicles and dropsuits and sell to the highest bidders in my merc quarters on my own private auction channel haha that would be awesome. I can't wait to see the day when you can customize your character dropsuits, weapons and vehicles to standout from the other mercs. The future looks bright for Dust 514 I' m excited. |

If this stays CCP certainly needs to make it so that when you fire your weapon it gives your position away for a few moments. Which makes perfect sense since how our radars are actually sonars. Perhaps even implement a new skill that suppresses the sound made by your weapon.
