Shields for me, For pretty much the same reason as the OP, I like the buffer on the outside... If you're good enough of a player or smart, you should be able to get cover before your shields are gone and if you specced properly into shields it sho...

You don't need to, you can still skill into any of the racial stuff you want and still get the bonus' If you're caldari and skill into gallente suits, you'll still get the gallente bonus'
