They're actually more useful against those annoying LLAVs with the crazy shields. You just have to time your cooking so that it drives right throw the blast. It's not easy, but they've been straight up outrunning my AV grenade lock ons lately.

Capacity skills affect your ammo in reserve, not in the clip. Reload speed skills are relatively useless on guns with a fast baseline reload. (Unless you are stacking with a racial suit reload bonus; though it's still pricey.
