I had these exact same framerate problems all the time in Codex, then I got a SSD drive and never experienced it again.
Yes it is lame we have to buy new equipment just because of poor coding on CCP's part, but if you want to avoid the framerate problems, get a SSD drive and stick it in your PS3.
However I am curious to know if anybody with SSD drives are getting these framerate problems too. Cause maybe that solution doesn't work anymore (does for me, but I could just be lucky). |

This is beyond awful and even worse that it is affecting people playing planetary conquest on the opening week.
We have teams in multiple studios working on this right now, it is the number one priority for the people involved. Expect to see some more details about getting it fixed this week. |

Not that I'm actually expecting you to look back at this thread again, but on the off chance you do....
I'm curious about something. Do your guys actively test this game with stock devkits, or do you use SSD's as well? If you did use SSD's, it would explain quite a lot here. |

If I had to venture a guess its that in PC most teams are actually coordinated enough to the point that they are actually sending in all 32 players into a single engagement area and the game can't really handle it, especially when you get inside of a complex.
In pubs, half the players are constantly running in random directions around the map like morons so the problem is less apparent. |

It's also common to see 10+ uplinks and 10+ Nanohives deployed, on each team. This adds another 40 dynamic objects that must be accounted for and rendered. |

I imagine server location plays a part. With corp battles there was a tendency for (globally) local corps to play each other, and the battles were so sparse that general 'not fit for purpose' issues like this might have flown under the radar. Now, with PC, your corp's real world region is irrelevant, so there will be many more cases of Euro teams facing off against US teams, and a good few where multi-national corps field whoever they have at the time, leading to players from potentially the whole globe all descending on the same regional server. In this situation, how can it choose an optimal server for everyone?
Tritan is mostly US players and I'm in the UK, and the video reminds me of games I had back in Chromosome when I was dragged into a server that was a bad match for my location. |

No the issue shown in this video is not server related, network latency or packet loss manifests itself in different ways. This is very clearly a client performance issue and we are working on some changes to fix it. |

I've had that problem on exact the same map. Did PC and i even think pyrex was in that one. Same map and when fighting was going on fps just dropped not to anything that low but still low enough for me to jag around with my aiming. Could somewhat still do something but wasn't anywhere near optimal. Sooo take out this map for now ?? but ok then we could remove all PC battle maps .... |

Thank you OP we need more videos like this, to truly show what many of us go through on an everyday basis.. On one hand I hate to have newcomers see stuff like this but on the other hand so does CCP and videos like these should really encourage CCP to take precaution next build.. Especially when this one they stated "was designed to optimize our client".. |

I had exactly the same framerate issues this weekend. Not sure if this helps or not, but:
a) It started happening after I'd been playing for around 4 hours b) I was joining squads with voice each game c) I was exiting squads after each game (because no one was talking!) d) I quit the game and relaunched it (did not reboot the PS3) and the game was smooth again! e) I started seeing the problem in the Battle Academy f) The problem continued in the regular Battle Skirmishes after I graduated g) I have a Slim 160GB, stock hard drive
Hope you can get it fixed! When it's running smooth, this game is a lot of fun!

This looks like "Skyrim Syndrome" to me then if its a client issue.
I've got a 1st generation PS3 (its very old) but I never had any frame rate issues on Skyrim, but most people did, it just seemed random if you got problems or not but it was obviously based on what PS3 model you had.
I've played about 6 full PC matches and i've never had any frame rate or lag issues in a match, I dc once but that was my router playing up. |
