So tried the adv flaylock recently and it's a pretty good weapon,if you can hit your target, there are three problems I have observed with the flaylock:
1:Splash radius,(mind the skill for the flaylock increases splash radius by 5 percent per level so 15% at adv which truly isn't enough)the flaylock at adv level has a 1.5m splash radius this is exstreamly noticeable when using it in the field the splash radius is almost non exsistant and the slightest mishap in your aim means a miss, period, the splash damage is unreliable at best and while a sidearm as an explosive weapon the flaylock needs to have at least a small splash radius to be useful in 1v1 combat as well as squad-play.
2: Projectile range, the range of the flaylock pistol is very short exploding midair(I also noticed that this doesn't seem to happen at the same range if you are shooting down rather then forward) an increase to this would benefit mid range combat.
3:projectile speed, the speed of the micro rockets are actually pretty slow an increase to this would be a welcome change for scouts and would make the weapon a viable choice for cqc/mid range.
if you have any ideas and or experience in this field or any comments please post below my fellow dusters! |

I never knew what people were talking about with the aiming issues until now The flaylock seems.. a bit off?
Or maybe the missile doesn't fly straight and is affected by the momentum of you strafing? I can't quite put my finger on it. it's just not accurate it seems like.

I'm not sure, I got the Prototype Flaylock Pistol on my alt and I was wiping the floor pretty well. 27-2 and 25 of the kills were from the core flaylock pistol (and no, it was not battle academy). It was on the Biomass map though and I pretty much hung out around B the whole time. It's definitely more of close range weapon and is excellent for enemies around corners. If you increase the base splash damage, then the prototype will have too much splash damage. If you increase the range and speed then you got a cheap mass driver, counter productive. I actually thought the missiles were quite fast. |

Hilarious that the proto flylock is better than the Breach Mass Driver in almost every way. |

Tough it is not meant to substitute the mass driver |

I'm a big flaylock user and I disagree with all three points. Splash damage is bad with the standard sure, as it should be. But as soon as I got to Advanced I started tearing it up, and prototype is overkill awesome. Splash radius is fine. Range is also fine, this is supposed to be a close quarter weapon. If you gave it more range then what's the point of the mass driver? Similarly when projectile speed, it's close quarters. I was actually amazed by how fast the projectile was the first time I shot it. |

I love my flaylock paired with a scram rifle I aim at there feet and shoot so i hit more, range hasnt been a huge issue (its pretty fair for a sidearm) and speed is plenty fast |

Aiming at the feet is the way to got for this thing.
I have noticed that up close my rounds will sometimes just go straight through the Merc and explode behind them.
Anyone else notice this?
Might have something to do with the whole broken hit detection mechanic though. |

proto flaylock is great....easy kills if you use it correctly...I have seen several people who regularly go 20+ kill in a game with just that gun...
If you increase the splash damage on them you need to lower the damage on them. They should not be better than mass drivers and it seems like they are much better. |

The Flaylock is perfect right now. Mass Drivers need a buff to compete, though. |

I agree the Flaylock seems right at the moment, but the only thing they need to fix for mass drivers is hit detection. It already has significant advantages: range, splash radius & fewer reloading
And yes, the mass driver's splash damage DOES make a difference...just like using an advanced or proto flaylock's splash range makes a difference compared to the standard version. |
