The only downside is really the fitting requirements. Militia is fine, but I would never say that to a newbro I wanted to stick around. Proto is just too great a force multiplier to say militia is all you need.

That Isk thing is the issue and the big reason why Protostomping occurs. Its too easy for big corps to get a lot of isk and they can afford to stomp. Myself and my fellow plebians can only hope to run advanced and not go bankrupt.

Thought that was why they reduced the explosive velocity (DUSTs sig rad counterpart) in the first place. Namely to make swarms less effective against fleeing dropships.

Problem with the nerf buff cycle is power creep. Big issue now is ttk and power creep takes ttk down which is worse than an OP weapon. Hardest way to nerf is to find out why the weapon is OP and then tweak that aspect of the weapon in such a way ...
