Why did you pick armor over shields when:
* Shields have more hp * Armor reps dont heal alot. * Shields rep more at base * Energizers to make it so shields rep more at a low cost of there shields. High cost of CPU * Movement speed is hit for alot more hp * Movement speed not hurt for 60 HP for the cost of 39PG & 14 CPU (dear god that is alot of PG) * Armor gets +20% to ANY explosive * Shields get -20% to ANY explosive
What armor has over shields: * Needs a player with proto repair tool to follow them most of the game. * Nothing * Nothing * Nothing * Nothing
I don't really see why I would pick armor over shields if I could pick. If you use armor, why did you pick it over shields? |

You can't rep what's being OTK'd by a grenade that the person you're repping can't dodge due to being too slow. Oh and 2 shield tankers can take down an enemy faster, and recover on their own at about the same rate as a repair tool. |

^^ ehh 115 for gallogis with max shields.. Honestly Armor tanking is only viable at proto logi levels, where it turns into regen tanking. I usually use those high slots for comp mods and a shield extender. My engagements shouldnt last more than three seconds unless im doing something wrong. Regen tanking is fuuun! |

The armor regen tankers would have to be squishier by virtue of needing to fit more than one mod that conflicts with their buffer just to match the shield tankers rate of regen. |

Plates slow you down, so the HP gain is meh at best. Heavies melt to AR for a reason, less speed will always be inferior to higher HP. |

Armor reps are increasingly more common- they're one of the top sellers!
With the number of logibros on the front lines these days, armor tanking is actually better if you stay in the pack. |

Well Armor does have some benefits even though it's not exactly balanced.
-Takes advantage of Triage nanohives -Can be repaired by others with repair tool -Has no delay in healing -Can almost get a comparable repair rate as Logi -Is -20% on lasers, shields is +20%. I know the splash sucks on explosives but the extreme range of lasers kind of balances it out. -Entire Buffer cannot be wiped out in 1 attack usually (flux and takes 2 grenades for Armor) -Loses nothing when dual tank, this is just because shields are better but still a slight benefit
I don't think they are EXTREMELY far apart, shields just need a real penalty and slight buff to plates and reppers. |

Thing is we only had the assault type-II as the main assault/whatever role in chromosome and most, including myself, were used to the feel of shield tanking. It's the people who took it into their own hands to go armor this build who truly appreciate its benefits.

I don't really see why I would pick armor over shields if I could pick. If you use armor, why did you pick it over shields? Because I believe in the Holy Work of the Amarrian Empire to serve humanity as a whole by uniting them in the name of God, Empress, and to bring about a state of pure peace the likes of which have not been seen since the days of Mother Terra.

The problem with this argument is that MDs do 30% more damage to armor, so they're dying off slightly slower that shield tankers when fluxed. Where as outside of Flux you are at a massive disadvantage when facing a shield tanker with a MD. |

True and true, but that aoe is monstrous even at basic, and I dont see that many shield tankers rockin a basic armor plate or anything. Just my observation.
and this thread seems more civil than what's usually happening on these forums. GJ |
