When i say stamina usage i don't mean that after 1 shot you are out of breath and must wait, of course without ability you will be able to shoot less than with high level ability. This will also prevent random snipers to be as effective as a skilled sniper.
if this were to happen, snipers would need better damage to conpensate for the changes that were to come. |

Sniping is already "challenging" enough, with the crappy scopes, low damage, and inability to make micro-adjustments. |

I feel 'hold breath' is needed, but it should stabilize quicker than the current crouching does. Additionally, I feel they need to do more base damage and respectively have a higher recoil.
They also need to be louder, so they are more noticeable just not visually.
Better scopes are a must. |

Sniper Rifles need this fix right now.
Their operation was balanced for Pre-Uprising maps. The sniper would be at appropriate ranges for all the sway to balance things out.
But right now with the new game philosophy, sniper rifles just are not working. Let the sniper rifles have some decent variable hip fire. Similar to the shotgun or hmg. They only have 3-5 rounds in a clip anyway... even their high alpha isn't going to top dps in cqc.
Just like the OP said. Don't penalize quick-scoping with enormous amounts of unreasonable sway. Just simple light sway. Enable the sniper to ADS and simply put his dot on someone. If he needs to steady aim for a good headshot, give them a Hold Breath button. |

It's okay End. Right now sniper rifles have a "heavy" sway. Extreme egress of the reticule from the target before it finally settles, and is hard to counter with joystick/mouse inputs. The OP is recommending to make it "light". Which gives reduced reticule egress, and can be easily countered with input.
To make the sight perfectly still, hold breath.
The sniper rifle is a light weapon after all.
Think Battlefield 3 aiming where you don't need to hold your breath to acquire your target, and you can easily do small inputs to adjust for the light sway. Unlike now, where the sniper rifle is always fighting you with it's sway, and you pay the price of MORE sway, just be wiggling your big toe. |

- BETTER SCOPES, better zoom and drawing distance
- Always trembling (light)
- Hold your breath to delete the tremble
- Breath based on stamina, higher skill>>> less stamina usage
- Crouching drastically decrease stamina usage
- Add a minuscle dot, like the one of the HMG, to shoot while not ADS (missing a shot at 5 meters is stupid and not real)
I hope snipers will give their opinion on this, thanks

Once again, i've never ever played a single COD series game. I'm not a fan of games that are not fantasy or sci-fi. If a mechanic is good is good. If you have some interesting thoughts comment, if not GTFO. |

Then let me clarify: I'm all for better scopes and less sway, but -1 for constant sway, even if it's light. |

KaTaLy5t-87 wrote:Dust is the easiest game to snipe in because once you are crouched there is no scope sway. I think that being crouched should reduce scope sway but not eliminate it and I would be in favour of a system where you hold your breath to eliminate scope sway. That's not true: even with max proficiency (-25% sway) and crouched down, there still is some sway.
KaTaLy5t-87 wrote:I might be wrong here but I've noticed very little if any difference between the standard rifles scopes and the advanced or proto ones. I think they could add an option to zoom or a higher magnification for the higher level rifles or something along those lines. I agree, it's hard to determine the difference between one sniper rifle and the other. it would be great if CCP'd list their zoom level and other chracteristics on the buying/fitting screen.
KaTaLy5t-87 wrote:Also snipers on the top of a hill should have a large neon green arrow pointing to their location because anyone who knows anything about sniping should know that you never stand on the top of a hill. Why don't you just wave and shout at the enemy so they can see you easier? Standing on top of a hill is a definite sniping no-no. The once that do wil found out soon enough and learn through their errors. No neon signs needed! |

There is always some initial sway, but he's saying there's no persistent sway when crouched, which there shouldn't be. |

Sgt Buttscratch wrote:Before any fancy fixes, they need to fix the blue shield flare up I have had since 1.4 hit. Easy kils not registering damage. Thales and Kaaly are **** atm, maps where I can get 30-50 kills, not so much.... I get all the same shots and hits, just end product is a blue flare of **** coding. I agree, this should have top priority! This week I shot a merc 4 times with a fully charged sniper rifle and +20% on damage mods - including a headshot! Twice I saw the blue flare, and no damage was done.
This happens all the time, usually ending in the demise of my character, instead of a dead redberry. Sniping is hard enough and no fun if your shots don't register. I've decided to spec out.

I don't know what you're talking about. When you crouch, then look through the scope, after it settles there's no sway, unless you walk or take your eye out of the scope for a second. |

There is no sway after a little time (less than a second at lvl5), maybe you are playing with an old DS3, my analog sticks are old and i can put them in running position without hold them, maybe the same happens to you. |

Do you use KBM or DS3? If DS3 something can go wrong with those 2 buttons: Analog left stick: if it's inclined or moved, it causes costant moves and constant sway. L1: if you go in and out ADS

I am a sniper, the whole time. And I know that snipers could be a pain in the ass. Thats one of our jobs.
Since 1.4 life has become harder for us, especially the new maps.
If you like to make sniping more realistics then we need:
- better scopes --> skillable
- different ammo types --> skillable
- a tripot extension --> skillable
- ammo capacity extensions --> skillable
- night vision systems --> skillable
- possibility to lay down
btw a general weapon fitting system would be cool.
then we can talk about sway and breathing and so on ....
But hey which weapon class is realy realistic?
Which vehicle behaviour is realistic? Do they have any gravitiy damage when vehicles fall down from the highest towers? |

But before this, CCP needs to fix redline sniping. Imagine a fully buffed sniper scout with a Thales behind his redline?

Nope, every sniper rifle stops swaying after a moment when you're couched, from Militia to Thale. I'm also using DS3, so yeah, if your stuff is swaying constantly, that's unique to you. |

....Not a good idea for how easy it is for people to dodge from side to side in this game. Movement speed is more of a twitch style. Seems more like people just want to make the sniper role harder to do simply because they don't like it. Adding unnecessary mechanics to aim just becomes more of an annoyance and unfair disadvantage when other weapons can simply spray and pray their way to kills with aim assist. Didn't have any breathing mechanic in MAG using snipers and that game was amazing. People didn't like snipers in that game either but they caused squads to look around in a panic and did their job. If its not broken don't fix it, and aiming mechanics for snipers seem to be just fine. I think I will pass on having to hold my breath while aiming at someone doing the death dance at 20 mph and managing stamina. Just wouldn't work well with how the movement is now and would just suck the fun factor from it. The tactical variants could use more zoom and the aiming dot really needs an option to change the color so it doesn't blend in with certain things. |
