Yesterday i played with an old alt, he is a sniper, i skilled into lvl.1 sniper rifle proficiency to be able to use all the rifles and ADV basic frame amarr because that alt is a lurid amarr. BTW, i think sniper rifle should have a different mechanic:
- Always trembling (light)
- Hold your breath to delete the tremble
- Breath based on stamina, higher skill>>> less stamina usage
- Better scopes
I hope snipers will give their opinion on this,thanks |

Sounds pretty decent tbh. I imagine some sniper will miss the part about 'better scopes' and fly into a QQ rage about being nerfed, though. |

I've played quite a few FPS online games and out of them all I think Dust is the easiest game to snipe in because once you are crouched there is no scope sway. I think that being crouched should reduce scope sway but not eliminate it and I would be in favour of a system where you hold your breath to eliminate scope sway.
I might be wrong here but I've noticed very little if any difference between the standard rifles scopes and the advanced or proto ones. I think they could add an option to zoom or a higher magnification for the higher level rifles or something along those lines.
And before everyone starts QQing about me wanting to make sniping harder that is not my aim. If you are a skilled sniper these changes wouldn't make it more difficult, it would just involve using a little more effort.
Also snipers on the top of a hill should have a large neon green arrow pointing to their location because anyone who knows anything about sniping should know that you never stand on the top of a hill. Why don't you just wave and shout at the enemy so they can see you easier? |

well the major difference betwen this and other games is that sniper rifles tend to be one shots in every other game out their.
this game expects you to be able to land 2-4 shots, some degree of increased control is to be expected. |

naw they already caldari'd the damage on them, revert them to 1.1 damage stats, make people render correctly, then GTFO the sniper rifles |

If the snipers were one shot kills then that would be fine, however most take between 2 and 5 (proto with 3 complex damage mods) so sorry i have to disagree. I do like the idea though :)
To be honest i actually like the scopes as they are, what is annoying is when you are following someone for a line-up, they have a tendencey to disapear from the screen. I have played quite a few matches now where everyone is nothing but a marker.
But yeah i dont think snipers need nerfing or buffing, they are actually quite balanced |

Totally go against most of this...especially the top of hill part. A real sniper does to for height, as long as there is cover. It is almost impossible to find a sniper, as they are masters at blending into the environment. Furthermore, very few real snipers crouch, they are laying down, and have a tripod (small, adjustable for the terrain/positioning) to help keep steady. Also, snipers are teamed up and do not go solo. One-shot, one-kill! Otherwise snipers wouldn't be so feared on a real battlefield. |

If they implement the ability to go prone (as I hope they do), should have an effect. Using scope while standing up should have plenty of sway, while going prone should have very little.
I also support better scope, the sniper-rifle is a precision weapon and more emphasis should be on headshots. Not sure how the 'hold breath' function would work? Which button are you suggesting should be used? IGÇÖm hoping the Left button becomes the (much desired) Zoom function. |

I like the current mechanic, but zoom is my only complaint about sniping, what shooter makes you snipe with your small dot at other tiny dots... It's just stupid, especially when you realise that body shots don't often do much damage to advance suits... I rarely die to snipers anymore as I have plenty of time to take cover when I see my shield go down... The ability to more easily pull of headshots would be a nice addition, easily fixed with zoom, a basic mechanic of most shooters... but CCP is so slow at understanding basic shooter mechanics 101 it gets frustrating. |

If you have ability at level five and most of the snipers have it, you will be able to shoot all your clip with a tactic sniper rifle (3 shots), if you are not slow as hell, then you have to recharge, it balance itself, not skilled snipers will not be as deadly as a skilled sniper. |

+100. Always trembling but MUCH better scopes will involve more skill and... it's unrealistic and frustating they have such a broken scope right now. |

would it be like if one is running, see's a person and immediately crouches and aims, the trembling would still occur even as he is holding his breath due to his stamina?
Would every shot deplete a fair amount of stamina?

Of course the only way to a play a sniper is to run a Caldari Assault or Caldari Logistics so I can stack Complex Damage Modifiers. Oops, even with that it takes more than 1 shot to the head to kill prototype suits. even with 5 complex damage mods, proficiency 5, and the Ishukone Sniper Rifle, max damage is 609. Medium suits start with a base of about 300 eHP. 2 complex shield and 1 complex plate and you can tank a head-shot when i use 5 damage mods.
When the sniper rifles start to scale with suits I'll accept your "more interesting" changes. For now, I'll take my pubstomping Sniper Rifles that are nearly useless in Planetary Conquest as is. At this point, Sniper Rifles just need to be removed from the game and rebuilt from the ground up. Though they really aren't needed at all. Until players can see up to 600m away at all times and on all surfaces, the Forge Gun makes a much better anti-infantry tool than a sniper rifle.

Agreed. Right now, I can't even OHK SCOUTS with a headshot anymore due to how good armor plates are getting. And I specced into Sniper Rifles for the sway reduction, which also helps when someone's trying to jump me and I can get a quick scoped shot on them. Contrary to popular belief, only proto suit snipers can really carry a sidearm, most snipers who stack Complex mods can barely fit on a Nano-Hive.
Also, the Tactical Sniper rifle is made for getting headshots. The other rifles, more for center mass. I personally use and love the Charge, because it can be a terrifying weapon in the hands of a skilled marksman. That heavy in front of you suddenly dropped dead? It makes people think twice. (At least those who think.)
If we get better scopes and a bit better balancing, perhaps we can have more sway. But right now, it's very easy to counter a sniper, especially on the new maps. An Active Scanner will tell you exactly where they are. Any AR will fire homing bullets if you get them in your crosshairs. |

Good point, but i like the concept where stamina influences shooting, they should add a penalty on every weapon, but shooting should not deplete stamina. For example: you are running and you have half of the stamina bar, your aim should tremble a little more with every weapon, if you stop running and shoot while moving normally your stamina will regenerate ( if shoot would deplete stamina, it would be a little too much game breaking). Crouching should increase stamina regen rate.
With these changes a sniper would be able to shoot while not crouch with more stamina usage and shoot while crouched with very little stamina usage. |

Before any fancy fixes, they need to fix the blue shield flare up I have had since 1.4 hit. Easy kils not registering damage. Thales and Kaaly are **** atm, maps where I can get 30-50 kills, not so much.... I get all the same shots and hits, just end product is a blue flare of **** coding. |

not sure why everyone wants to make snipers worse...I don't mind making sniping harder, but if you do make it harder then the pay off should be greater as well, this means if you make it harder to aim, and add constant rifle sway, then we shouldn't need to hit a target 4 times to kill them.
also if snipers get more sway, the the same sway should be added to all guns, because trust me I find it very annoying that as a sniper I need to deal with the minor sway I have while the AR's have none.
1- add sway to rifles 2- increase daamge output on snipers by about 20% 3- add long range active scanners/marker to the sniper so we can start giving more info to the team. |

With these changes it will not be harder, it will be different and somehow better imo. Of course all numbers must be balanced for the game. When i say stamina usage i don't mean that after 1 shot you are out of breath and must wait, of course without ability you will be able to shoot less than with high level ability. This will also prevent random snipers to be as effective as a skilled sniper. |
