THey are way to overpower.need to be brought down with other weapons.no way they should be kill someone so fast.please nerf the shotguns in this game. |

Shotguns arn't over powered. See a shotgun? Back pedal like crazy, they have an effective range of about 2m.
Everyone in this game seems to run forward shooting. This is usually a mistake all guns have an optimal range, you in this band you do most damage.

dont matter they need a nerf at close ranged.in gneral it needs a nerf.i should not have to run away.fight him head on in close range.like i said the shotgun needs a big nerf.and a few other things in this game the need a nerf weapons are not that well balance in this game. |

If a shotgunner is 4 ft away, then your his *****, any further than that, smg his ass down.(smg vs them lil bouncy scouts is prime)
I understand the need for the use of caps i your title, but the reality is, the SG needs a little help if anything, I'd say a bigger spread due to how annoying the aiming can be. |

This isn't just a generic FPS where everyone has the same HP and everything does the same damage. There's a deep layer of metagaming involving niche play styles and you need to respect those niche play styles by learning how to properly counter them instead of coming on the forum and crying for nerfs. That shotgunner put a lot of practice and trial and error to learn how even get within his effective range to kill you efficiently. The least you can do is acknowlege that "Hey, that shotgunner was pretty good" and respawn to show them that you're better. But instead we're repeating the same goddamned mistakes that we did since closed beta because people never want to learn this game. This is why everything gets nerfed into the ground and quite frankly, newer content is coming into the game pre-nerfed to spare your tears.
PS: Shotguns were already nerfed in Uprising 1.0... |

Im sorry but 'running away' is sort of part and parcel of the game.
Your logic doesn't make any sense. And your probably going to get trolled by other members of the community.
I'll be nice and explain why what you ask for isn't possible.
Lets say its not a shotgun guy but someone else say, against a really good player with the best gear, according to your logic, you shouldn't have to back off and find a better target, you should just win. If not its unbalanced? Or lets say, a sniper. He shouldn't be able to kill you at long range because that would be unbalanced? Your not really complaining about weapon balance then, are you.
Shotguns are meant to excell in close range. They are infact close range weapons.
The tactic to beat them is to engage outside thier weapon range.
From your subsiquent post I would like to disagree that shotguns are overpowered. They are meant to excell at close range. If you want to beat a shotgun user find the weakness of the weapon and exploit it. |

Yes you should have to run away. Or die. Take your pick. You seem to not understand the concept of balance at all.
I'm guessing that you expect to run up, in the open, with your AR, and bunny hop around until your opponent is dead right? Shouldn't matter what weapon they're using, or at what range, or what kind of cover is around, right?

I constantly fall victim to shotguns with my ARs/SMG set up but thats the point they are the best close range weapon they are working as intended. They do not need a nerf that would just ruin, the weapon they need to be effective at their selective niche or else they wont be used.

While Im against a nerf I am against thing the current OHK Shotgun does not need a more spread, maybe if we got a non-OHK minmatar shotgun then that would be ideal for a lots of close quarters with high spread, Stand in a room empty 3 or 4 shells(maybe 5 for heavies) and walk away.

Minmatar shotgun should operate like a 12 gauge. Gallente shotty is kind of like a sawed off, but we should get a mid ranged lower spread shotty as well. |

I can see the Caldari version acting more like a medium range 12 guage simply because there chosen Weapon, the railgun, already has a habit of firing things at insane speeds. I sticky with my suggestion that the miny shotty should be a non-ohk shotty with lots of spread. |

Plus with the lousy hit detection on top of getting close! The OP must not have played in the last build when hit detection wasn't an issue and when scouts had a good suit!
Shotguns were to be feared in Chromosome.
I am relieved to see a shotgun in Uprising. Now, if an AR or flaylock user is near, that's a different story. |

Dude, do you have any idea how hard it is to get a decent shot with the shotgun? Just like ninja knifers, those folks deserve to one-shot you if you let them get that close to you. So stop hating on shotguns. Also, stay away from my knives.

Shotguns are currently really hard to get a good shot on someone. The shotguns spread does not spread out circularly like one would think. If you're closeup with a shotgun and you're a fraction off from the target that you wish to hit, most if not all the spread will miss the target. If they were to fix these problems, then I could see a slight nerf to damage. |

no shotguns are fine with spread because when you level them up the dispersion fixes itself. i use the 'dren' shotgun with no damage mods and its good, but the aiming system combined with the over nerfed range make it weak.
when CCP fixes the range, and the aiming system shotguns will be balanced out. shotguns will get the slightly greater range they need, and the user will actually be able to hit their target. never nerf shotgun damage, it defeats the point to the weapon. |
