p.s. just incase someone decides to take me seriously, this is just me posting random. Balancing community experience with internal metrics and our experiences (both playing the game and professional) is always a tricky thing. We need to make what we believe to be a good game but we cannot ignore what the players are saying. It is a careful balance and is very rarely ever met even near perfectly.
If your so confident in what your doing, why has the game went through a complete overhaul in core gameplay mechanics in less then a year?
If anything you guys are lost and being guided by people even more lost and clueless, seems odd.... |

Good luck in getting this, CCP Devs are just way to busy with the change Fox's name game and nerfing everything to give us good game feature.
Hell they can't even give us core FPS mechanics that arn't broken. |

Even though we forum posters most likely comprise about 1% of the game's total population, it's fair to assume that many of the sentiments we express are shared by the lurkers and non-forumers to some degree (though, for whatever reason, they choose not to express those views.) The balance of feedback versus vision should, in my opinion, be heavily biased toward vision - for a variety of reasons - but that said, I feel like the game is falling well short of the vision.
DUST is billed as a futuristic, First-Person-Shooter, which is not only set in the EVE universe, but is an integral part of New Eden. However, I feel (as I'm sure do many people here) that the core mechanic of the vision (namely the First-Person-Shooting) is woefully lacking in appeal.
The Call of Duty franchise is often criticized by players here because of its one-dimensional, uninspired design and repetitive gameplay; however I think it's important to note its popularity in spite of its lack of revolutionary game systems (though, to be fair, a system of leveling in an FPS title was quite revolutionary when it was first introduced.) All you do in Call of Duty is run around and shoot each other, but the running around and shooting each other is so much fun, that millions and millions of people spend thousands of hours doing just that.
CoD is even grindy! Many dedicated CoD players will reset their characters and re-grind the grind TEN TIMES for nothing more than a special version of a few weapons and a fancier icon to display beside their names. Many players here criticize DUST because of its grind, yet I would submit that the grind in CoD is much more prevalent, and much less rewarding, and yet it is the more popular game. Why? Because its core mechanic works so beautifully.
If DUST's core mechanic worked as well as CoD's, it would be blowing that game out of the water in terms of popularity. The intricacies EVE's metagame, persistent world and skill system, incorporated with a triple-A FPS title would be the epitome of revolutionary and an unstoppable, revenue generating, juggernaut.
I have said before that once DUST's gameplay systems are able to mature and interact with each other gracefully it will transcend the FPS genre. However, the FPS system is still a vital factor in that equation, and it should be given primacy over the others so that DUST learns to crawl before it tries to run.

Just as I figured, Dev's are more interested in the changing name games than the game they are Developing. Really pathetic. My job here is done. Wow, real internet tough guy, this one. |

Take your own advice and Hush the **** up, CCP knows better than people seem to give them credit, when you make a game thats done as well as EvE, then, maybe then you can tell them how to do their job. |

I've heard a lot of good things about EvE, "Balanced" isn't one of those things.
Internal metrics are a 90% fail because they usually look at the entire player base, when for true balancing purposes you should be looking at the top players.
They don't take little league into account when they design gear for the MLB. |

Perfect balance in a game is "IMPOSSIBLE"... even the greater Shooter games in History, have balance issues after decades of development. The path that CCP is taking with trying to achieve perfect balance, is self destructive.
STOP doing that... focus in the things that you are got at. Balance will improve over years of tweaking.... but don't stop the game development trying to achieve something that is impossible. |

What they are trying to achieve and what they are going to acheive are two totally different things.
For instance, they are trying to do away with conventional FPS roles (unless you play heavy), what they are ending up with is players combining the best Min/Max suit with what ever the flavor of the month weapon is to create a very bland sandbox. |

It is a careful balance and is very rarely ever met even near perfectly. you should ignore threads like this and respond to some of the serious issues it will probably help the fast dwindling population of dust. i mean trolling people fun and all ..but i would be much happier when i click on a thread because, oo someone got a response from a dev...it wasnt you trolling around. yes im sure it is very hard. even if the honest truth is they're are years left of work before certain aspects of this game are balanced. if you as a dev are on the forums responding should it not be to something usefull otherwise your just wasting your time and delaying the progression. telling them hey its hard take it easy wont fix anything. and wont stop they're crying...instead you should fix some of the issues...they're are threads on here solid legit threads that have been reposted over a year...even if ccp will not be considering fixes to those issues for some time, a simple yeah we know that sucks we are working on it...is way more productive than this. i got on this crying thread because i thought i saw a dev comment..though hey might be usefull ...WRONG |

Yeah but you see they are listening to the "Masses" and the "Masses" want bland, *cough COD cough* !
No matter, this game will either make it through the real AAA games or it won't.
CCP will only allow EVE carry this game for so long and will cut ties with it when it makes no money.
