Some people have modded controllers, or mapped the fire button to their mousewheel, yes. the RoF + the damage +the range is the ENTIRE reason the weapon is overpowered, it outranges everything that's not a sniper rifle, or forge gun, or installation and does comparable damage to turrets mounted on cars, at a faster fire rate than the standard AR. You yourself even pointed out that the ONE DRAWBACK this gun has is not any kind of drawback, so, what is it's weakness to balance out being the outright strongest option in the game? and yes, it does need a nerf. if more than 2/3 of people are using a single weapon type and variant, it means that nothing else is comparable, which means that weapon is overpowered. ergo, that ONE weapon needs to be nerfed.
And how many people have modded controllers, or play the game with a mouse and keyboard? That's a whole different ball game, it's a very small percentage. Never once did I state the gun had no drawbacks, and I rarely see TAC rifles in either Pub games or Corp matches, I'm not even joking, or being obtuse right now, I see them once in a blue moon.
I'm honestly not going to continue this argument any longer, because I feel we're just clogging up the forums with pish, my point still stands, the TAR is fine the way it is.

Also you must not play many games then, because there are a minimum of 4 of them in every game I'm in. that's a quarter of one of the teams, as a MINIMUM. that many people should not be using the exact same gun. typically it's more, ever seen a game with 10 of them? it's over very shortly because it turns into CoD 514 where everyone dies in 4 bullets. |

I'm not running, I'm making an educated decision to stop beating a dead horse with another dead horse, and I play pretty much all day every day and I see maybe 2 in a match, every 3 matches? I'm being totally serious here as well, I'm not trying to continue this argument on, and I've never seen a game with that many, I've seen games where the entire map were running VARIOUS AR setups, mostly the Exile is the one that keep popping up on the kill list for me, and a quarter of the team using the same weapon, is pretty normal in most shooter games, that were ever made.

As a player whos go-to weapons are high pricision ranged weapons, I welcome a nerf to the tact AR. OPs mention of it turning into halo is correct but only when refering to Halo 4 (and possibly reach). Halo 4 has ruined the weapon dynamics of the series by giving everyone a precision weapon by default. As someone who uses the tact AR in Dust, it isn't about the damage for me. Lowering the dps simply means I'm going to play a little differently. I'm still going to be using it. In Halo, I could work magic with the BR, but what really set skill apart was being able to mop the place up with the "worst" guns. That's because every gun had an effective range or optimal range. I'm pretty sure the tact AR can out dps the other closer ranged ARs and submachine guns and that to me just doesn't make sense.
However, I think the whole "balance" debate is a bit fuzy in this game. This game is litterally about leveling up to get better equipment and weapons. Like, am I missing something here? I know how much you payed for that tank. I'm not complaining that you kicked my ass. I think weapons should only get marginally better with advancing your character but when does it all stop? I've come into this game expecting there to be guns that are just hard to play against. If snipers actually did their freakin jobs, tact ARs would be a mild annoyance. Also, maybe if there wasnt hard stops on weapon ranges?... IDK just nerf them all ready. |

By god, please don't too hard. It is the only weapon I can use right now. Let me be honest here, my aiming skills are crap. In BF3 I use to have a K/D Ratio 1.3 and IGÇÖm miles away to have this in Dust. Well I know Dust is NOT BF or another FPS, but my skills were most time enough to keep a positive K/D. May be this is a little offtopic, but I would like to advice CCP to throw a GÇ£lotGÇ¥ of weapons in this game. I know it will make balance harder, but itGÇÖs getting boring with the weapon of choice. In BF3 I have my 4 Weapons I love to use, and I cycle them and enjoy the GÇ£newGÇ¥ sounds, look and feeling. It feels fresh after a couple of rounds. |

these are the same players who will go FLYING outta PvP as soon as PvE shows up. but not until after they have had PvP nerfed into an armed version of romper room.

Just buff everything else. I'm not gonna complain about AR's being OP, but it's bull that HMG's can be outgunned by AR's inside both of their optimal ranges. Especially when I get the drop on them. |
