No corporation who holds a district in PC is low profile. Someone somewhere wants what you have and attacking or sabotaging you is the easiest way to go about getting it. |

Paper Cutter wrote: Edit: on another note, I'm curious as to why they would've had to have been hired. It seems that they could do this trick at will, get the ransom and leave, no one is the wiser. There is no original corp who got screwed over, therefore you keep a modicum of credibility should the ransom get paid (seems unlikely but rumors are someone has paid).
My guess is that they have not yet to be contracted by anyone, rather just thought of this "plan" as they went, got carried away, and now think they're big time criminal masterminds that can control the place. I mean, why else would they name their employers? Its an incredibly dumb move no matter how you see it, BUT it makes it look like there's actual interest in them and their little "trick."
Plus openly admitting to such "Counter-Hiring" (or whatever you wanna call it) is just a horrible idea, anyone with half a brain would know hiring/ paying up such people is simply a bad deal for anyone but them. Unless of course they're only saying it so to incite someone to pay up on their charade. (Which again, no one with half a brain will do.)
To be honest, I really doubt they've made a single Isk from this and were just hoping for said "ransoms" to go through, that failed so now trying to make their little joke into something more, tho completely unprepared and winging it in hopes something will actually happen. Heck, I wouldn't doubt if the whole "Grief University" thing was thought up after/ during the D-Uni thing. I mean just look at their "demands,"100M Isk? As some have said, that is but chump change to any half-decent corp, showing they're in need of said chump change, so they're probably mere beginners trying to make some quick isk.
They say they have infiltrated tons of corporations and that they're these big time villains, but really its probably just him/ her and a couple of friends in a few alts here and there.
Even all that aside, if you think about it, this is an incredibly bad way to try and make real, constant profits from, not to mention the fact that ANYONE can do such things, so there's no need whatsoever to hire them in the first place. Why should they pay you, when they themselves can do the exact same thing for free?
Even if this turns out to be a good business, the simplicity of it will mean there will be tons of people doing the same thing, probably better, so your "business" will be severely cut. If you want to make a good profit on anything, you have to make something that not many can do or are willing to. This on the other hand, anyone with the ability to make an alt can do it. Requires 0 skill, 0 Isk, 0 SP, 0 Thought, its all about getting lucky and catching some dumb corporation to actually pay up.
There's no demand for it and really, there won't be unless it becomes something extremely complex only few can or want to do.
So...yeah, good luck trying to make this an actual thing because from the looks of it, its not something that can be really grow beyond a small pay here and there if you're lucky. |

However, a smart con-man/spy always plays the long game, looks for an opportunity to do the most damage and actually achieve something. You, sir, have achieved very little.
And as for not seeking glory? Why did you start this thread then? Why reveal your plan to the world? Now everyone knows and will do what they can to be a lot more careful - sure there are still ways to get around background checks and whatnot but because everyone knows now, your job is going to be that much harder.
I applaud the attempts and the sentiment of your piracy but you can and should do better. Best of luck for the future; I'm thinking you'l' be needing it.
It's called advertisement.
Holy crap, are 90% of the posters in this thread as dumb as their posts suggest?
People are falling all over each other to scream how dumb Grief Uni was for making this post, when they don't even seem to understand what was done... or how they could be the next target... or the next employer.
And for those who claim that EVE meta-game rules don't apply, clearly you don't understand what happened here.

all i have to say is if its advertisement then it the worse way to do it. "look over here expert saboteurs hire us for your dirty work o and here is a massive sigh with are last employer go ask them about are extra discreet service just an extra 50mil"
I can't speak for SI but I don't think are leadership would pay these jokers

If it was meant to be some grand advertising scheme and they have successfully infiltrated mega corps why didn't they target them 1st for a larger impact.
Dust university may of caused some publicity but targeting R.i.f.t, really, did they think people were going to care and start posting topics about how we got "shockingly" infiltrated. |

Can't you read? The OP said they explicitly asked their employer if it was okay to post:
Blapathon Tanker wrote:Good question. We'll be sure to mention it if our employers are ever interested in paying us for our discretion as well.
Wait. no we won't. Our silence was never part of the arrangement.
We asked.

Yeah, why didn't they blow their biggest assets right off the top? The uncertainty is part of the effect. Does SVER have a Grief Uni agent in their ranks? Who knows?
And you can't claim this post didn't have its intended effect. Look how many people are posting here! |

You clearly missed the part where they failed to actually gain PRO the district they were paid to serve up - yeah, great advertising. It's not hard to lose someone 450 clones in one match if you continuously suicide - these 'griefers' clearly suck as griefing. |

How is this being common knowledge good advertising? Why would anyone hire these guys to infiltrate and throw a match when they can't even kill themselves 450 times?
I know people say any publicity is good publicity but this is hardly true when you're trying to build a reputation as someone who can achieve results and you fail to achieve those results. |

Do not presume that you understand their objectives or know their employers. Just as your corporation is capable of providing misinformation to present itself in a better light, so too may they be presenting half-truths and falsehoods.

You know what would be interesting with this? Allow a Commander/Platoon leader whatever (assuming we ever get commanders etc) to kick someone from their team, but perhaps not from the game...creating a rogue. Issue of course being where they could spawn, but it would still give them the opportunity to cause all the mischief they want, without having to be booted from game. Otherwise have a TK tagging mechanic (sort of like world of tanks) or just allow a 'vote to kick' etc system. Only problem I have with the latter is that it hurts the ability for espionage/awox to happen, which is always a funny part of EVE (though not usually when you're the victim). But there definitely needs to be something in place to allow players to combat this in some way so you aren't just helpless. That is as broken as simply banning it would be. Just like the need for roles in Dust so it isn't director or nothing (assuming this hasn't changed yet). |

Man you Rift guys are really bad at math. While I'm not sure how many clones you guys started with, it was well below four hundred. My memory tells me 310, but it may have been as high as 350.
You're also making vast assumptions about the state and details about our contracts. Feel free to continue making a fool out of yourself, however, you're quite amusing. |
