I didn't notice much latency, but extremely heavy framerate issues. When I tried to turn my view would jump around and the enemies we were facing would blink across the ground. It was like swimming in mud. There was a small amount of this framerate lag for me at the beginning when we spawned in, reaching its peak when we got to the facility. From what I've seen and read our opponents didn't have any lag at all.
Everyone on my team had this problem, including the people who jumped in to replace those whose clients crashed entirely. Most of our players were North American. +1, I had 2-3 FPS running around inside the facility, and maybe 5-6 fames around Delta and Charlie. We also had two people drop from the match due to skating across the map. We were the defenders in this battle.
I was flying an Eryx in this match, and later driving a Saga.
In the Eryx, ground troops and tanks were not rendering. I could pick out their locations based on the tracers from their weapons, but could not see the models themselves. When driving the Saga, enemies would render, but with what I would describe as a moderate amount of "rubber banding."
I experienced decent FPS performance through the majority of the match, with only a moderate amount of frame rate problems. My frame rate only dipped when more than 3 or 4 enemies came into view at once. |

Throwing my drop into the bucket of FPS issues.
CCP Nullarbor wrote: LAG There are a few threads about performance of the PC battles. We need to determine whether this is latency or frame rate as these are 2 very different problems. A low frame rate is going to mean your character feels like it moves slowly or the client locks up or stall and most importantly it effects how slow it is to look around. High latency is a network related problem and can cause rubber banding of your own character and others or hit detection issues but does not effect the camera being able to freely look around. If you have any detailed comments on this please let us know and we will look into it.
Given the symptoms you list, it sounds like my experience was 'frame rate' as opposed to 'latency'.
For debug: Completely fine for most of the first match, then 2/3rds of the way through suddenly got SUPER bad FPS. Second and third match, FPS issues were pretty present though out, moving continuously between "kinda rough" to "unplayable". All took place on "Hedaleolfarber III ".
Also, got the "No End of Match Screen" situation on all three games I played; don't know if it's related.
---
On a gameplay note, I'd like to second the idea of removing the MCC (or is it warbarge?) based orbitals during PC; or at least significantly changing the cost or properties of them. Anything we can do to strengthen the value of the EVE / Dust link is a good thing. |

Some threads have identified that a mostly EU corp versus a US corp can produce high latency for one side depending on where the server is located. The location of the server for the PC battle is chosen based on the best available region for players connected but only if they connect within the first 2 minutes of the battle becoming available on the battle finder. While it still says "Waiting For Deployment" we are giving everyone the chance to get signed up before determining which server, so you should take advantage of that. We have some ideas on how to make that experience smoother and more obvious for a later release.
.
CCP Nullarbor, Sorry to question what seems to be definative answer, but are you absolutely sure the battle server is decided while being in the warbarge?
I always thought that warbarge is already on the battle server - reasons indicating this are: * huge load during change from MQ to Warbarge * the same caliber load is from victory screen to MQ (which definately is battle server to Tranquility load) * small load from Warbarge to battle's spawn map itself - does not seem big transition * Chat screens (select menu) going unavailable during MQ-Warbarge loads, which would possibly indicate server change |

I have played in one PC battle so far.
I believe I was experiencing Framerate and Latency issues . When I would try to look around it was almost like looking at a filmstrip or PowerPoint Slide show.
Walking/sprinting produced rubberbanding.
When I used my weapons the bullets would not fire until about 1.5 seconds after I let off the trigger.
When I threw grenades it took 2 to 3 seconds for it to show in the game.
EDIT: Sorry I do not know the district the battle was fought over. |

At 3 mins left on the timer until the match startd, we all got booted out into the merc quarters. There was no mails about anything, our clones went up so we assume we won. 2nd & 3rd matches District: Aeditide V - District 3Time of battle: 2013.05.16 15:10:00 District: Aeditide V - District 7Time of battle: 2013.05.16 19:50:00 Both suffered from the extreme low FPS. They were all 5 point maps. For the 15:10 battle, as we were majority Australian players, we were given a server with FULL connection strength, so I don't think it was network lag. For the 19:50 match, we were a mishmash of players. For me the server's network was only 2 bars, and for others it was 1-3. They both had the same installation in game. The place where the low FPS caused the most pain was in a HAV, driving around the installation where C/CRU/Supply depot are. (Best picture of what the installation is where CRU is in E7 https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=48088&find=unread ). The low FPS was so bad that trying to turn my HAV turret 180, would result in me seeing it turn in roughly 30 degree amounts. I lost a bunch of HAVs in the same place, where I'd see I've got 3/4 armour (in armour tanked HAV), then next frame I am destroyed with no idea of what happened. 4th match District: Aeditide V - District 2Time of battle: 2013.05.16 20:40:00 The other side were no shows. The installation was the same. But this time the fighting wasn't concentrated indoors at the same E7 spot (as the other team were no shows). There didn't seem to be any FPS issues. My corp members in the matches reported the same symptoms, but some were swearing it was network lag, not FPS. Others were saying it was low FPS & network latency. Corp members ran another match while I slept, I was told there were low FPS issues here also District: Aeditide V - District 6Time of battle: 2013.05.17 00:50:00 I hope this was enough detailed information for you.
Just in reference to xp3ll3d's excellent post, I was present for the first and second battle mentioned.
Symptoms noticed from my end were "rubber banding", especially close by structures; frame freeze which would culminate into facing a different direction or ending up 10 metres ahead within the next unfrozen frame; Mass Driver rounds not exploding or disappearing; and sometimes not spawning in or spawn freeze even after spawn countdown has begun.
Horrible stuff to deal with in a PC game. |

Agree, definitely FPS lag. I got this as well in one of my PC match. I even got worse than that like one frame every 2 or even 5 second. My guess is that it is memory leak as restart PS3 before going in every PC match seem to prevent the issue somehow. |

My question is: Is there any way to further optimize the game without a major update? Also does anyone understand what is causing the memory leak if you don't reset the game?
I've only suffered from unplayable fps for one pc battle, not that the other matches ran much smoother in some cases. Skim Junction while being a fun map to play on is usually the culprit.
I think there should be a test in which multiple battles are played offline on very intense maps and the same is done for online battles with a less than average connection to see if the same framerate drops occur. |

so last night i logged in ~40m before PC battle, played one match then the PC battle
@nullarbor there were definately framerate issues, i wasn't like the earlier video at all, but several combat scenarios particularily when close to one or several enemies saw large framerate drops i'd say it ended around 12 fps or so
there may have been minor latency issues but this was entirely overshadowed by the earlier problem in most instances, it was playable, just, when the enemies were at a distance, but if they got close it was rather hard to cqc. |

now when we are fighting in the match there is so much lag it is ridicuolous.
also we lost the match and werent able to attack again and we still had over 85 clones
if any other corps recieved the same problems attacking or defending plz post so ccp can get on top of this |

I wasn't paying attention to the exact district last night unfortunately, it was the planet with 24 districts on it though, if that helps.
It doesn't seem like the district matters though, from what I'm seeing... Pretty much every PC battle is having this issue.
I will say, a lot of corp mates are finding that restarting helps, and I was the only person experiencing unplayable FPS last night, while corp mates described it as 'bad but playable'. |

It seems much of the high distance fights are decided during the first 2 seconds of when the match opens up in battle finder. The side who gets the correct server wins pretty steadily.
A better way to do it, IMHO, would be defender advantage. If everyone knew who would get the server beforehand, it could be taken in consideration during planning. |

We've now had our entire team suffer that exact effect on Ennur VI - District 5 (cargo hub SI) two nights in a row, both times while on the defensive. There's no indication that the other team suffered the same problem.
Needless to say, we're less than pleased that we're unable to adequately defend the district due to a purely technical issue rather than our own performance as players. (That's not to diminish Ahrendee's skill - but the handicap certainly isn't helping!) |

I played in the same match ZDub 303 is describing. I can't name the district however I do know it was @ 1800 and the Teams were Seraphim vs Teamplayers (map was skim junction) I reset directly before and only experienced minor framerate lag with fair hit detection, no latency noticeable.
However when I played against Hellstorm an hour later I reset 5 minutes before squads were deployed into warbarge. The match began with decent framerate, which very quickly deteriorated after more than 5 people were in the vicinity. It began to feel like I was playing in slow motion. The input delay (time between me pressing the button on my controller and seeing the respective action display on my screen was so-so, about 1/2-to 3/4 of a second lag at times. In addition hit detection was so-so for me during that match.
