There are those that say that EVE Online is still in beta 10 years after it officially launched.
Since DUST is going to be getting new content and features on a regular basis it will alway feel a little like a beta. The officially release is more to say that they think the game is now polished enough for the less intrepid public to try it. |

I've never seen a "release" with only 50% of it's main classes released. GW2 didn't come out with only 3 races, THAT was beta.
In fact I was in the eve online beta and they didn't release untill the races ships were at least even and sorta flushed out. We don't have minatar or amar turrets or tanks... whats up with that...
Also I've never seen an mmo come out on release with broken features just sitting in the middle of the main lobby. Map table.... |

16 on 16 with some pretty basic graphics and weapons is hardly a place to say you're so cutting-edge it's gotta break. What's likely breaking this game is the absolutely slavish devotion to diversity for diversity's sake. Other game houses charge you $60 or so for something that works, and they stake their success at that price point on just that. CCP has pushed out a cleverly packaged promise of future functionality while delivering mediocrity of epic proportions. If it weren't for all the "let's play pretend" bits and collectibles fever, this game would be roundly denounced for what it is: Battlefield 1943 lite(tm). |

and the seperation of two classes were meant to inspire people to chose one side or another for 'em. Later changed because of QQing. What is Dust doing that's comparable to that? Oh - by not releasing half the content at launch. Makes sense... |

So what? What does that have to do with releasing a game with bonuses that effect weapons that aren't out and won't be?
If GW2 was released with only 3 races it would of been bashed as a beta and rightly so. If you don't get that maybe you shouldn't be on the CPM.
CCP needs to release the other tanks, dropships, turrets and dropsuits asap. One heavy..... Are yo kidding it's unfair, what are going to do keep asking for respecs every build? |

GW2 is not "beta feeling" and it still gets massive free updates every 3 months. These are expansions, not someone trying to cover up holes they dug but forgot to fill. |

So you're comparing DK's to the half ass job CCP has done with Heavies and other clases? I didn't know Blizzard launched there game with half there classes talent trees working and half there armor.

So many people confuse constant expansion with a constant Beta. Beta means you haven't finished the basic platform and functionality of your product.
So if you don't have a complete set of dropsuits and weapons that points to beta.
If your vehicle mechanics are still broken, that points to beta.
If you have never managed to balance weapons, especially if that is due to not having all your basic content out yet, that points to beta.
If your shooter mechanics aren't up to par, that points to beta.
If your servers and network mechanics still cause frame rate and hit detection problems, that points to beta.
You are out of beta when the core experience is complete and performance is robust. After that you can expand on the experience. Until then you are still in beta in reality if not in name.
We are all aware that DUST was launched prematurely. |

They just "forgot" the heavy class. They could probably have made 3 complete race for all class, and then make an expansion for the Gallente let say if they really needed some more time. Since they don't communicate about this that much, we can only speculate. |

TOR certainly is a heaping pile of ****. Unfortunately for the "MMO is always in BETA" meme, the same could be read on the TOR forums even after the TORtanic started taking on water and the call for women and children to get in the lifeboats could be heard over the com system. Also, comparisons to WoW were very abundant, which is what makes this thread particularly disheartening. |
