Well, Dust launches tomorrow (or even today, depending on where you live). What are your predictions on how things will go?
-How will gamer-sites (ign, etc.) review this build now that the clock has run out on CCP's hotfixes?
-How many new players will be joining us, and what will they think?
-How many players will actually get involved with Planetary Conquest, and how many will sit it out (like me )?
Discuss :) |

Judging by the Dev response i got on my Dropship topic, hopefully there will be needed adjustments to many of the concerns DS pilots have been facing forever now, such as WP not being earned, Cost reduction in the advanced ships again, etc, however i wouldn't be able to guess how much of that would be in this next update tomorrow, if any. I just hope they get the DS problem fixed fast. |

Things will go quietly and with little fanfare, we will see a small rise in player numbers but nothing massive. However the forums will be awash with complaint/positive feedback about the new content we're getting. I'd also expect a load of qq about no skill respec from people who don't stay up to date with the forums. Overall business as usual. |

As far as the game magazines, I'm not sure. EVE is a pretty well known game, especially how it's been built up for all these years. I don't expect Dust to be "torn apart" by them, but I do expect them to want CCP to make changes to Dust and will be optimistic about it's future.
Though that's not to say that there aren't d-bag critics out there that will probably copy/paste some QQ/Doomsayers rant and submit it to his editor. |

Lots of new players will get mad and say this game is horrible. And ccp should feel bad for making this game. Lol. I can already see it. There are so many people who say the same thing all around the web. |

The correct way to say this is "CCP FoxFour manages to take his shoes off." The rest of the people are stuck with their shoes on all day. |

I think dust has the ability to be one of the best games ever. I think it's far from there now and I think it wont be there upon launch. But maybe one day it will be. New players will come just out of curiosity but in the games current state I dont see much sucess. Usually I would be playing right now until it's time for me to go to work but instead im just laying here bored reading the forums hoping that tomorrow my heavy has more range or is a little faster |

I think most gaming websites will give it a fair review..
most will keep it positive.
Those reviews will then be torn apart in the comments section by bitter "Vets" who are on the forums more than they play the game.
Makes me sad :(
Apart from that dire note. I think the new weapons will be fun, all those mercs who think armour is useless (not me) will be ripped to shreds by the scrambler rifle then whine OP.
But most of all there will be bugs, glitches, imbalanced weapons etc ... but just remain calm remember it will always be a work in progress and carry on killing. |

Can't imagine much will happen at all tomorrow. Do you really think there are a lot of people holding out from downloading this free game cause its not released yet...?
Saying its released and out of beta is just words really. Tomorrow will bring another patch and more content.. but as far as it really matters... this game released when it became available for public download... i.e." open beta." |

Something recently I mentioned in a CaLogi thread, but I think it's applicable in this thread's context. Sorry in advance if it sounds harsh to s specific group of our community, but I don't pull my punches:
Cosgar wrote:M-E-T-A-G-A-M-E There isn't enough content implemented into the game yet to have a balanced meta game. Everything is intended to be the effective counter with specified advantages over the other like a big game of rock paper scissors. But there are some serious people with epeen issues that don't understand things like balance and want to be the absolute best at everything and cry nerf, even when it's against something that's supposed to be it's effective counter. (refer to Assault vs Heavy vs Scout vs Logistics) But, even at the game's infancy, CCP has willingly swung the nerf mjolnir and shattering balanced game mechanic after game mechanic because from our POV, they're catering to the lowest common denominator of our playerbase. (see HMG nerf and HAV ninja nerf) Once the scrambler rifle and flaylock get added to the fray tomorrow, all those CaLogi slayerbros are going to wish they didn't go for a tankier shield suit. They'll cry OP and nerf, but the truth of the matter is, it will be working as intended. This is going to be a delicate time in Dust 514 where the developers are going to have to let things play out and put an end to this nerf witch hunt once and for all. Outside of something that is game breaking on the level of the Viziam and light weapon sharpshooter, the nerf bat won't ever need to be swung and everything will be in our hands in how we fit our suits and vehicles to counter and exploit each others' weaknesses. This is a common thing for the MMORPG scene and the strictly FPS players are going to have to adapt or die... alot. After 5/14 there will be no more OP, or nerf. Dust 514 will be the sandbox it was intended to be and we'll be the ones kicking knocking eachothers' sand castles without adult supervision. When someone cries OP or nerf on these forms, the devs (and hopefully the smarter of us in the cummunity) will respond back with that old EVE Online saying: H-T-F-U!

EVE is 10yrs old and they have just rebalanced(nerf/buff/tweak) most of the ships.
My hurricane was one of the first to get nerfed....did I cry on the forums..no I HTFU and adapted my fitting to compensate
This is something mercs will need to get used to. A sandbox game like new eden will never be finished |

Metro: last light releases tomorrow a well. Its a fps but only single player. (spared dust there huh? ) So predictions tm? Those that have been playing it, will also play it tm. As far as new players, kinda hard to say. This game tho in "Beta" has been out for the public before uprising. I'm sure tho it will grab those that have not played the beta, and want to find out what this game is about.
...... oh they might come to the forums! Be nice everyone! Smile damn it! smile!

Right now there has only been crying from a few about OP this, nerf that, and this needs a buff, blah, blah, blah.
What CCP is going to turn grey over or lose sleep and hair over is when big name CORP's start getting on here because they are losing 80 million ISK at a shot over broken game mechanics.
When territory and Planets are on the line and and this game means something finally but CORP's are unable to defend or attack because the core mechanics of this game are still broke, well then look out baby.
I will not envy CCP's Devs for the next two weeks at all.
PC needs large Corps in order to succeed and if large Corps leave then PC fails. When PC fails then TAC AR 514 turns into just another space pew pew game that means nothing.
Good luck CCP I mean it, good luck.
Lets hope you all have it right.
