To the developers, I appreciate all the great graphical improvements you have done on the uprising build, I can't say enough about how impressed I am at how polished it looks.
Just to add a little more immersion in the future, I think it would be cool to have location accurate suns and moons.
During night maps (and possibly day) if the moon count and size was accurate with the planet being fought on it could really help change up the look and feel of every map. This also includes the same nebula seen in EVE in that particular system.
Also if suns for each planet was the same color as the star within the system, it could add even more immersion and map variety. A blue, red, or green star would leave a very extraterrestrial feel for the daytime maps. During planetary conquest it could make the districts fought over fell more like "home" if the suns were unique colors in the system, and the same moons were seen on each planet.
Like I was saying before about the graphical improvements, I can't count how many times I've been shot because I was staring up at the sky and been shot. It's one of the things I love about EVE and I think it would take this game to a whole new level of immersion with accurate celestial. |

I don't think this would be a hard fix, just change the sky and solar lighting. This would make each planet unique as well. |

Very very insightful.
Anders and the art team have some incredible challenges to overcome with making Dust look good, and giving us terrain and skybox variety.
These people are artists, but they are terribly terribly limited by the PS3's capability. Also noteworthy is that they can't just release loads of new maps.
Maps consume a lot of hard drive space, and are the bulk of download packs.
Considering most players have tiny PS3 stock hard drives... they need to be sure that Dust doesn't occupy too much hard disk space.
It's going to become clear, that over time, if Dust isn't announced for the PS4 soon, players are going to have to learn how to upgrade their PS3 hard drives.
Dust is going to continue to expand... if we want unique planet terrains beyond a retexture, we are simply going to have to pay the price both in hard drive upgrades and drive space.
I may just have to make a thread explaining how to replace one's PS3 hard drive. (Sure hope mod-able consoles are the way of the future. The line between PC and console will blur over time.) |

I don't see why they wouldn't just run the unreal 3 client on the ps4...
Same textures, same models, but 1080p, and larger harddrive space. I don't know just seems to make sense. |

The thing is that blue star gives different luminosity effect in air, as our sun makes us see everything in yellow more or less, the blue makes it in blue and green obviously, green. Red giants could be awesome, imagine everything has a red tone. Just some work RGB on lightning will do things
Not sure if CCP chats with astrophysics. |

Having astrophysical accurate colors based on the stars would be really neato. Though my ship kind of forgets astrophysics all the time. |

It's a problem to me when in the future, space suits don't have face shields that reduce the glare of the sun.
We have them on our space suits now. |

This is something that I am very interested in doing and we've talked about this internally. I haven't actually made a prototype of this yet, but it should work ... in theory All the information is there, we just have to find a way to make it work together
I've also been toying with the idea of finding events that happen in EVE that could somehow have an effect on the environment. For example, if a Titan would explode in orbit around the planet, it make the atmosphere thinner and show more of a nebula, Similar to what happened on Caldari Prime where the Titan went down. Even making it rain ash and fire after a large battle for a few hours. Even some sort of an energy pollution
This would make planets that have more activity look more dramatic with a view into space and a more dynamic environment
These are just ideas in my head though |

That is something we want to do and have made prototypes of but we are focused on making the terrestrial planets perfect now, so its unlikely that you'll see terrestrial environment with a dramatic geological feature in the distance.
When we do a volcano, it'll be a proper volcano probably on a lava planet.
That being said, we want to get to a point where a player feels like home in a district that he has fought on before (for example if you are defending your home district). So even if its maybe not going to be a full blown volcano we still want to put effort into making them look memorable.
Halador Osiris wrote:I know you guys are discussing the skybox, but way up high in my Python I've seen this city far off in the distance that looks really cool. Will we ever have an opportunity to fight in that? XL socket?
I agree that they do look very cool.
That area is not really made for game-play so you wouldn't have much fun playing there . We can do environments like these pretty easily, the problems with them is that they are a little bit boring in terms of what they are. Its just an urban area and although they look good they don't have much of a purpose in planetary conquest. So I don't think we'll be seeing a full blown urban city like area in the near future, but I'm that you'll see many of the SI's have more of an urban support network in the future. |
