Im right there with you man. dropped considerable amount of ISK on learning to refly. getting better everytime but i might be broke by the time i really get the hang of this. Tank busting is actually really fun cause i know the tanker is raging. |

I've been flying the Viper exclusively while waiting for the Shield Extenders to be placed back under vehicle skills just so I wouldn't burn my way through my wallet so fast.
I figure that getting used to the increased inertia with the slower ships will help getting the hang of the more agile ADS.
All the info on the new ADS is great, but does anyone have feedback on dropping troops with the new squad size? Has anyone in a corp taken advantage of inserting 5-6 of your team on top of an objective? If so, what are your experiences? Is this as OP as I think it will be? |

A dev has made mention that we may be able to use our "full kit" as a DS passenger in the future. I imagine that will come with the ability to be shot out if the ship to keep it balanced. |

Haven't had much experience with this yet, however I will say that the python let's you put people places very quickly. |

As soon as you see them heading towards you while you are flying low, quickly fly towards the swarms while gaining altitude, if you do this right you'll fly above and past the swarms without taking damage since the swarms can not longer do a 90degree turn

Pythons are amazing and i am very happy to see so many pilots still flying! Assault dropships are amazing however the price tag is pretty steep. My Python runs me 1,491,420 atm i feel like for that kind of a price we should at least get another 250 shields rather than having the same shields as a myron. The new camera is a little disorienting at first but id say i have adapted. Would be nice to be able to change the camera settings. Yes forge guns do more damage against shielded vehicles, but remember that swarm launchers do more damage against armor vehicles. i couldn't be happier about the new flight ceiling, my dreams have been half realized. They will be fully realized when we can fly to that city in the distance..... i have killed atleast 2 HAV 63 infantry 9 LAV. a few corp mates got into my guns and we got 2 orbitals, not one man from my squad died. We have finally become effective, however there is still much work to be done to make dropships great. Us pilots are a rare breed in this galaxy, and its up to us to help CCP make the dropships the best any game has ever produced, lets give good and clear feed back! Keep up the good work guys! |

the nose turret can be flexed up and down in 3rd person, doing this and maintaining hover takes much practice

we usually hunt snipers and stragglers on the outskirts of the urban zones- 2 men drop from ADS while ADS remains to provide fire support, basically an epic combat air assault
by the time the RDV delivers my ADS my squad has already taken 2 points |

I have yea, with the Erhyx (ADV Logi Caldari DS) and we have scored a few objectives but my jumpers mostly enjoy the 10+ second fall. |

Any other pilots bummed out about the broken FW mechanics. I've been looking forward to FW forever, because it finally meant full teams of corpmates able to work together. A full team of corpmates working together meant that I could actually use my dropships to transport troops reliably.
FW being broken is just another piece of the "dropship pilots always get screwed" puzzle |

I lost my first and only Assault DS to an RDV when I was practicing back in my spawn. It came in from underneath and took me out before I hit the ground. A milliion ISK down the drain. |

What modules/turrets are you running that runs you that much? I'm only at ~1 million, and I'm capping both my CPU and PG, and that's with the high-end missle turret. |

1.5 million isk per ship does not seem that much to a proto assault or Forge Gun players.
Because they'll rack up 1000+ SP each game, and 3-5k ISK.
On a good day the DS pilot in his 1.5 million ISK DS will earn 100k in the air.
See the problem? Highest cost, lowest reward. Can't sustain anything on this. I've been going lower and lower in the hole and half of it isn't my fault. Hello RDV's. |

Damage amp and proto accelerated turrets, Its mainly the turrets that are costing me so much, about 226k but I have to check for actual cost. I should probably change my gunners turrets but they are just so damn effective...
Skihids, I too lost my first AD to a an RDV, was a friendly one too. Im not entirely sure what to do about RDV's though. Maybe a warning indicator that projects the path of incoming RDV's? A blue or red line or a ghost of the RDV with an ! in the triangle symbol for medium aircraft? I dont think we should just remove them from the game. |
