I always wonder why a AR guy 50+ meters away starts shooting at my methana surely they cant be expecting to blow it up or snipe me out of the seat from there. But they try that is your average AV guy the ones who believe everything is AV I mean its the future right. |

I wanted to be a tanker, couldn't muster it. Wasn't good enough. I skilled into them and got most all mods unlocked and still couldn't do it. I figured out quickly, wasn't the tank sucking or av people being op...it was just me sucking as a tank driver, period. I admire those that do it well.
So with me, if you can't run them, kill them! Went into proto swarms and enjoy smashing tanks. But again, the good tankers will always survive if I don't have help. I think people hate what they can't do but it's not because its op...your just not good at what you do. Lol.
I say rock on tankers! Look for me running after you dieing over and over trying to kill you! |

No just a general disparaging comment on human nature allot of people seem to think they can kill any vehicle with anything because the game is set in the future and when they cant thats when the complaing begins and leads us down nerf alley.
Edit for when I dont make sense I have a bad chest infection and asthma so sleep deprivation + meds are leading to nonsensical waffle. Humblest apologies. |

Hell, I don't even know who's side I'm on anymore. I used to think tanks were OP, then I started rolling with tankers learned better. I use AV when needed, but the satisfaction is gone since they're so damn easy to kill now. I miss the old days of when you saw that red diamond players were like "Oh ****! it's a TANK!" now it's "Heh, it's just a tank..." If Uprising is any indication of the direction HAV is going, I feel even worse for tankers than I do now. Hell, I might not even try to kill an HAV after May 6th out of sheer pity. |

I snunk up behind you, i out smarted you and your team by allowing me to get behind you, or anywhere near you. three av nades, three CB7's. Thats how much time you have to turn your turret around to kill me, i have 500-600HP. you have 5-10k, you have three guns that can shoot at the same time . two of which are able to turn 360 degrees with perfect sight. first CB7 boom 75% shield, 2second delay before i can sprint or change weapons, 5 second dely befoe i can fire agian, av nades boomboomboom now if youre a good tank driver, you would of activated that shield repper as soon as the cb7 landed, but 99% of you aren't, so lets play that scene like so. 30% shield left, second CB7 5% shield, 2 second delay, 5second delay. if you havent killed me yet. or got behind some rock you fcuking suck, theres no if ands or buts, you suck at tank driving. there are three sits in a tank, you driving, two other turrets if one or two of the others hasnt gotten out and killed me after the first shot of the CB7, while im carrying a fcuking swarm and a scram pistol. you deserve to lose that tank.
PS. When did IMP start recruiting whiners?
PSS. If youre riding solo why waste the CPU/PG for turrets youre not gunna use? |

Throwing out my LAV driver opinion- There's more to the AV game than just destroying HAVs. Just because a solution works with AV vs HAVs doesn't mean it works with AV vs LAVs and dropships. |

i know we have gone back & forth on this topic together Caeli; but both sides have valid arguments for and against the pro's & cons. Be it ISK costs, or SP costs, etc...
I can say tanks are a bit squishy for me (pending on AV im using), yet is it balanced; i'd say yes & no. From an AV standpoint, i think my ability to really keep a tank out of the game is balance based on what i use; as i'm someone whose invested 2-3M SP in that ability alone. However, i dont think people who run basic AV should be able to scare of tanks solo (if multiple then yes that is possible).
From a tank standpoint; the AV used & amount of it, is what would brings up the balance issue (i believe). Putting aside militia tanks; if look at the real standard tanks; most are able to take basic AV really well (aside from possible the Armor-basic pack nade situation); it's the proto that seems to cause trouble (not even advanced at times), but mostly its the nades. Probably one of the biggest FUBAR's CCP did w/ the Sagaris & Surya is they dont have enough modules or basic HP to warrant their use. Even though it'd be harder on me to destroy them; i'd of thought the base HP should of be a tad higher; and give them back the CPU & PG had before. Hell maybe even do a 5/3, & 3/5 setup instead of the 4/3 & 3/4
From having skilled into AV every build for a year; i'd say Swarms -> Armor is definitely makes those tanker run faster (i think); compared to FG -> shields. Maybe its b/c of the extra damage swarms do, not sure.
I know thing will change; especially for tankers now; as it seems like the "proto" tanks will be trash; and you can no longer double spec core skills to affect both vehicles & infantry.

Again what I see here is doing personal attacks. Saying I am a ****** tank driver. I am a whiner. Ahh I love these. Then to try to prove your point you pull out paper stats that CCP gives you saying your right.
Saying I am a ****** tank driver and I suck. I think anyone who has played on the reverse side of my tank will say different. Those who play with me also can agree on my knowledge of using the battle field to my advantage.
Saying I am about nerfing AV is pretty funny because you must not follow my threads. I feel AV needs to become a better career choice in this game and I have spoken out about that. I also feel it needs to have more risk involved in it. AKA reward players for killing AV. From here CCP will see more Proto AV hitting the field because they are getting better rewards in both sp and isk. After this it will allow both the players and CCP to see what needs balancing. Personally I feel small buffs to vehicles can easily balance this out. I feel modules are what ccp need to work on. Not the vehicles themself. But better balancing them by having better modules for them. But again AV needs to become a better choice. It needs to be something that is more specialized into. And have more risk. Right now the gap between standard and proto is pretty small in AV aspects. I think it needs a bigger spread leaving proto where it is at. but yes nerfing both adv and standard slightly. So they play better against vehicles at there lvl. People will have more of a reason to lvl into proto also. Then you sit back see how things play out. and make small adjustments to balance out the gameplay as needed. |

Not once have I seen it mentioned in all the discussion about how useless proximity mines are against vehicles for the most part.... they really work wonders on that dropship flying overhead. Proto-swarms still don't hit that tank on the mountain to the north of A in manus peaks aka the Fishbowl Skirmish. --Now with the removal of the extra equipment slot from the Assault class proto there goes carrying AV grenades & proximity mines
Case in point I have seen 4 enemy tanks on the manus peaks (fishbowl ambush) untterly destroy my team before they could spawn, let alone when they didn't spawn us out in the open outright, and then had enough time to try and throw enough AV at the enemy to do much more than die from the 12 turrets and the 4 foot mobiles.
Mind you this is only when you live long enough to make it past the enemy LAV's, their Laser users, their snipers, the fat suits, the scout suit shotgun-er and finally battle the tank or tanks. Normally there is 3-4 that start going after the vehicle but when they actually close the distance there is maybe 1 or 2 left and easy targets for anyone on the enemy team to take the time to kill them.
I have also seen more forge gunners killing infantry from on top of a building than I have seen them actually attack a tank.
Now as it stands your payment for pulling out the tank is much higher than mine is for blowing one up; as your isk payout for killing me with proto AV is not divided by the 16 other players on your team like mine is for fighting the tank for 10 minutes and 10 clones worth of death. |

I don't think CCP ever want to design a game where there is no casualty in a match, let alone multiple match. Ever see EvE battle where no ship going down ?

Male Cow Excrement . As someone who has been dedicated AV since Replication I can tell you that without support to distract Slayers , even if it's blueberry support, 9 times out of 10 I am going to die to a slayer unless he's really bad or I'm lucky enough to be in a better position.
Swarms cant be used against Slayers ( stops and remembers the old dumbfire swarms........shudders) at all so is pretty much stuck using sidearms for any AI work.
Plasma Cannons seem to fire really slow , has arc , and has to be reloaded after every shot . Add the fact that it seems to be a close range weapon compared to the others so a slayer can easier kill him before he kills a tank.
Forge Gunner like me ...... yeah we can kill vehicles AND Slayers if we are good enough . But we get very limited ammo to do it and can't carry nanohives . Tankers and enemy AV tend to blow up Supply Depots so without someone with a nanohive a Forger will find himself twiddling his thumbs very fast .We also cost as much as a militia tank without the comparative survivability of one verses a squad of AI. So a couple of deaths ....we are in the red for a few games and has to skill up a completely separate role to make money to afford this as we are not paid much as pure AV since they took WP for damaging vehicles out .
Look ... I'm all for keeping the Sag and Surie. I didn't ask for easier to blow up sniper tanks . I'm also all for nerfing Militia AV and slightly nerfing standard AV nades . But attacking Proto AV who actually dedicated their SP and Isk to the task of fighting you for most time very little reward serves no one . |

Or I pop off a few shots hoping the LAV will turn towards me to run me over but end up running over an AV grenade instead.
It works more often than it should, to be honest. Its nice seeing someone driving an LAV they actually specced into, hitting one of my nades and getting killed with no damage to the vehicle itself. Priceless. |

Now HAV pilots should not bother wasting SP into the new class, if these vehicles are never used then CCP know that something is wrong with them andhopefully may read the forums and cottn on
