And I'm an AFKer
*echos of 'hi jenza' echo round the thread*
It all started a about a month ago, Nova Knife was explaining this hip new thing to me about sitting around doing nothing in the MCC while playing other games. It started with just both of us happening to AFK at the same time while playing other games like Wings of iccarus. Next thing i know im squad afking with him and 2 other dudes while playing minecraft or otherwise being productive. I had to shower for hours!
*shudders*
productivity...
However thanks to the support of this group, playing the new build and getting ratfaced drunk at fanfest, i can no longer bring myself to play the current build and im sure everything will be good as i recover from this condition. As such, its been about 2 weeks since I last AFK'd on my honour, or may i be melted down into biomass.

*Bows* This is getting out of hand. To me this is people making a mountain out of a mole hill. Yes AFK is a problem for the public matches we have now and yes it does remove a bit of competitiveness for the game mode, on public servers. But who is going to use this tactic in PC? I have never seen an AFKer in ambush. But if you wish for AFK to go away, then we as players need to pick up our controllers and play. We don't need CCP to hold our hands and remove it from the game. It is a simple problem to fix, just play the game. It all starts with you, as a player, deciding that you will not propagate the AFK phenomenon.
Granted I did AFK most of the time the fan fest stream was up, that was a special circumstance in my eyes though. Now that fan fest is over, pick up your controller and play.

You might laugh at me, but the following statement is true.
I AFK'd once to see if it was something to be concerned with. I actually felt dirty, like I was stealing or some other less than ethical activity. Oh well I might be too honest for New Eden. I will have to work on that. |

I find this behavior troubling to say the least. You and Nova Knife started the whole AFK epidemic that we have now. Skirmish is unplayable because of the aforementioned epidemic. Yet, CCP gives you guys the task of establishing an honest fair election process and other duties dealing with DUST514.
DUST514 is dying because of the behavior that you and others started and continue to do. How is that fair to the people that actually played the game for all their SP? It just shows the whole playerbase that CCP condones afking, so why not do it. CCP has shot themselves in the foot with this one. |

Not really. It was fan fest, and I started out playing while watching the stream but it was too good to have my attention split. I haven't AFKed since the end of FF though. |

Exactly, right! And let me be the first one to say that I have no huge issues with the current administration, but you get the sense that they're being a little soft in a sense. Well let me tell you, right now, that I'm the straight talking, all balls out, alternative who's gonna fix this situation with my 5 step program. |

Derping around in an LAV or a dropship for the entire match in my redline, with the occasional foray to go squish a red while not contributing to the team at all = acceptable
I lol at this community at times, corp policy is not to afk, but I personally don't see a huge issue with it. People are tired of the current build, but want as much so for uprising as possible nothing wrong with that. I'm telling you, wait four days and afk'ers will disappear like bacon in a room of fat people.

Pretty sure DUST is dying due to the lack of content for 4-5 months now...maybe longer? I stopped keeping track. The frame rate issues, the boring gameplay caused by unbalanced teams, ZERO incentive to play as you get SP for time in game, not by how well you do.
People being AFK is the effects of all this. |
