What differnce does it make? we're all in the same boat, the SP costs apply to us all. Now it just means you have to ACTUALLY play to EARN your top tier stuff. People are making the tactical error here in thinking CCP just wants a pure FPS game.
Too many people have become comfy with games like COD where the prospect of having to earn something is beyond people. In comparison to EVE, the game this game was made to support doesn't have active SP, so be happy you even get that.
So it's harder to get your toys, on other FPS games I don't beleive people kick off because they have to wait a bit longer to get their next gun.
But if the idea off earning your gear is too much I'm sure that copy of COD or KZ collecting Dust on your shelf will be happy to take you back. |

a little sloppy, but I get your point.
Patience seems to be a prevailing problem 'round these parts it seems. Also, it amazes me how much people can hate something that they haven't even played yet. CCP seems to have the angriest group of "fans" I have ever seen. I say "fans" loosely because it seems none of them actually like the company.
It's amazing. |

I think it's good that proto stuff is harder to get.
Proto suits are the best of the best on the market, it makes sense that you need a good amount of time and specialization to get it. You think that takes time? Start a new eve account and train for a titan. THAT requires time |

This I understand to a degree. However the vets are still millions and millions and millions ahead of the scrubs like myself who have only been playing for a few months. At the end of the day you're going to end up with your gear before anyone else. This also makes such things such as proto gear less common, thus making it more effective.
Whats the point of proto when everyone has proto. You might as all be wearing starter gear. Along with the PC race you're adding an arms race as well inside of the game. It sucks to the people who got used to the equipment I'm sure but it also gives you something to work towards like the rest of us. |

Eh, Titans are pretty straightforward to train into; it can be done in less than a year.
Supercarriers are actually longer to train for, just because you need all the support skills; Titans are more flexible in terms of training. We're looking at 2.5-3 years for a good Supercarrier pilot. |

I'd be up for CCP takin passive SP away and leaving only active, so you only get literally what you earn through play. AFK'ers are kicking over CCP's sandcastle as they build it |

FPS are totally different then RTS and should never have to the same core mechanic ruling both or else you run into terrible balancing problems like we have now, this SP sink is a band aid to the horrible passive mechanic. |

It takes 40 years to max out all 24 proto type suits across every race.
To note, it only takes 177 days from a fresh account to max into a titan . Meaning you could max out all 4 titans skills before maxing out three dropsuits. I literally give up, for real, I'm not playing this game if this is the plan . |

"implying proto is needed to be the best"
at the end of it all
Team work > Twitch skill > Match up > Gear
so what if it takes you a long time to get some of the best Gear in the game
people will complain if its to easy people will complain if its to long at least this way people will take time to plan there approach to the game and plan some stuff out
keep in mind it is *beta* people use to use this excuse to explain bugs and stuff now we will use it to explain change to the game
and it has been mentioned many times that beta skills have been really nerfed so that you can get into everything ASAP
*edit*
also where are the official notes that has got people up in arms > ?
*edit 2* and where are the notes that say SP will be just as hard to get as they have always been so far ? |

Hello don't ignore my post. You are only going to able to train 30% of the total number of skills in dust, if you start now and play untill you die an old man in a hospital. Have you people lost it ???
Dropsuits should be sp cost x4 at most. Keeping dust at no more than 20 years of skills should be a god damn poster in the dev offices. I'm sickened, this better not still be around in 2-3 months becuase after testing the new build you won't he seeing wasting my time |

Btw 40 years of hitting the cap every week with boosters is 20880 hours of gametime to unlock all the dropsuits. Also 10400$ of boosters

Sorry didn't mean to seem rude didn't see ya post bud. I see what your saying, it may take awhile to get ALL proto suits but why would you? CCP is trying to make players specialise in a set role, meaning you can't hybrid class yourself without penalty. Dust we actually play to earn our SP, where as in EVE you have to wait pretty much.
I'm assuming you taken into account that Dust gives active and passive SP as well as throwing in holidays where we can earn more. Where as EVE you only get passive sp. How did you come to your conclusion btw, did you use weekly caps as a basic ref and worked out how long it'd take literally to get Proto on all suits? |

think his point was how expensive SP wise they are, which is a valid point, alot of FPS players would feel at their limit when their going for proto, but like you said..why would anyone want to specc into another role unless they capped the one their working on.

If the rumored numbers are right and my calculations are correct, then it should take about 3 months to get a full specialized proto suit (without boosters). I know that's longer than now, but I think that's a pretty fair amount if time. Yes, I used the weekly cap with the booster , divided the total needed sp to find the number of weeks needed. Its too high , these are the frigates of dust .there will be so, so many many things that take 6 months to train into I promise. Dropsuits are too numerous to justify the skill multiplier. That's all I'm saying.

Except it will take new guys even longer before they themselves can become competitive. There is no "positives" here for anyone but CCP, they can now get people to buy booster longer.

Dropsuits should be sp cost x4 at most. Keeping dust at no more than 20 years of skills should be a god damn poster in the dev offices. I'm sickened, this better not still be around in 2-3 months becuase after testing the new build you won't he seeing wasting my time Sorry didn't mean to seem rude didn't see ya post bud.
Adding to this once again what's to say ccp removes the whole weekly cap thing and just has a soft cap followed by a hard cap 3 million points above that cap that slowly raises ?

Past that, there's been little to no remark about it. In fact, some of us are actually nodding in agreement that's good considering THE SUITS NOW HAVE BONUSES FROM THOSE SKILLS.
Vocal majority is not the majority. I'm honestly fine with the suits costing 10 X SP since they have those passive skills now, it's those stupid basic suits that I just don't understand! X10 is saved for capital ships. The skill multiplier is that high because you need to control a crew of 1000s on a ship the size of a large city.

Yeah, just saying - a 10x skill at level 5 is only 3,108,720 SP. I can afford two of those with the SP I currently have and because of my work schedule, I missed a few weeks of SP Cap.
This shouldn't be an issue for the people who are bitching so much about it. |

comparing standard infantry to a tank and saying that is kind of odd... its a tank it should be way harder to skill into than a an assault dropsuit.
with this whole sp issue the only thing im thinking about now is how little i can actually do with my sp now.
theres no way to skill into multiple proto items soooo....
the real question is should i skill into a proto suit and use a militia/standard gun or should i skill into a proto gun(s) and use a lesser suit (maybe advanced if your lucky)
but by the time these things have been skilled into you've completely neglected all the small passive skills that are needed. all in all...... this sucks
its kinda funny honestly its like we've had our sp reset without actually having it taken away, still grateful for what ill be able to start with, its better than having nothing. |

There! I've added my PSN sign in on my last will and testament and what specific skills I want my sons to skill into. Also, I added a request to pass my account on to their children and to spec into logistics MTAC if they're out by then. Should I add another generation to be safe. |

QQ :( I need a proto suit and weapon. QQ. it takes too long. QQ I need someone to hold my hand. QQ. The tissues are in the living room, grow up. It should take time to get to the best stuff in the game. Who wants to play cod in space? Not me, but I guess I will if I want to play dust because all the infant tears are watering down a game that is on it way to being fun. I can't wait for the day that all I have to do is log on and I have everything for free and everyone is the same. We should go back to the first closed beta build so we all get 100k SP a match and we all can run proto all the time. Fun times. I totally suck at this game and I don't have the problems the "I go 15/0 every battle" crowd does. I guess I should just stop reading these forums because of all the "I want it all right now" garbage. Grow up, harden up or whatever else it takes to make you stop crying.
Don't bother responding to my post because I will not be back on this thread to read it. Enjoy your kiddy pool full of tears.

Where the -****- are you people getting this outrageous number? A 1x skill is 310,840 SP -TOTAL- so if you multiply that by 10 (just add a zero to the end FFS) it's 3,108,400 SP
Where the hell is this imaginary bullshit number coming from? Eve Online totals?
Dust 514 and Eve Online have different skill equations - LOOK AT YOUR SKILL BOOK IN DUST 514 - IT'S THAT ****ING SIMPLE
Edit: Oh, my bad, it's 310,920 SP - I was off by five minutes or so of Passive SP accumulation. |

Don't worry, when they normalise our SP on Monday and everyone starts on the same 13Mill+ SP you will see that they have increased the SP payout by the same percentage.

I get the feeling CCP wants us to think about who we are going to fight and when, then prepare and select a time on a monthly cycle basis rather than engaging in PC every second of the day....
Taking longer to do things suits me just fine. |
