I believe It has to do with the creation of EVE. either the Beta or the game itself. Not sure when the Beta was created, but i believe Eve itself was released somewhere near 5th of may 2003. So 5-5. It could also perhaps be a reverence to the first beta testers or perhaps the first corporations. or perhaps the number of patches, untill now. I kinda have the feeling its a tribute to something... Either way i think it has something to do with when the creators (Reynir Har+¦arson, Hilmar P+¬tursson, etc) saw there long lasting dream come true....
