I really like that in Mandarin the number are homophonous with words. 5 is a homophone for "not" and 4 for "death".
Some interpret 514 as "I want to die" through this homophone system, I think it could equally mean "Not One Death" or "I will not die".
Need some Mandarin homophone experts all up in this thread.
EDIT: Also, 510 is a homophone for "I love you"... If the 0 is you, is 514 "I love death"? IDEK. Need to do some research. |

"Don't want to die" is the primary motivation for almost all of Templar One's behaviours.
DUST 514 is developed in Shanghai and the name could be a nod to this.
FTR: I don't think this is THE answer. Apparently devs have said that EVE players have enough information to figure out what the reference is and I would facepalm pretty hard if the Sleepers were intentionally making this reference... but I would like it if this homophone was consciously included as one of the possible layers of meaning. |

I don't believe we have much information on the sleeper language so "EVE players can figure it out" would be misdirection if that's the case.
I haven't personally seen where this was stated so if anyone wants to attempt Google-Fu, that would be awesome. |

I've read Templar One and have no information about the 514. I believe there were references to 'dust to dust' and returning to dust. |

This is every instance of chapter 5, verse 14 in the Bible.
I think it's the wrong place to be looking, even though the Amarr are related to modern Catholicism... but if anyone wants to arbitrarily declare a particular book the significant one, have at it. My favourite is that 514 refers to Mark 5:14:
Quote:Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. |
