So far I have recently squaded with a couple of fellow knifers out there since I am now spending my time wanting to train people personally (mainly for my Corp) since we have expanded so much especially with new players.
The first Knifer I paired up with during the past week was with a fellow Corp mate who was new to the whole knifing profession. Knowing that he will die a lot along with me, I recommended that he put together a cheap ninja fit with with either the BPO militia suit or the type-1 scout. The type-1 scout is usually best to start off with for those on a budget as it offers a decent amount of PG and CPU while having at least two low slots so that you can mix in a kinetic catalyzer with a cardiac stimulant or replace one of them with a profile dampener. The type-1 will allow more room for fittings because the militia stuff is usually inefficient with cpu and pg when it comes to fitting them. A standard nova knife is also recommended to keep cost down but you can still kill your target so long as you melee immediately after. Since melee takes up stamina, it's important to have the cardiac stimulant fitted. if you can afford to spend $20 on a merc pack and get your hands on the blueprint original modules using aurum, you can cut the cost down to almost nothing per match. It's because of this cheap setup I was able to maintain at least 6-7 million isk on my wallet which means I still have more than enough isk to splurge for the prototype fits.
Anyways, as we entered e match, I decided to be the bait and let my partner follow me some distance behind. This way if an enemy merc is hiding around a corner then I will provide the distraction while my partner takes advantage of the kill. Having a partner also helps when your initial strike doesn't kill your target but you have softened up the target just enough for the partner to come in a finish the job. I ended up with no kills but my partner ended up with 3 or 4 kills because I was always the bait. In addition to that I also showed him a few key routes to take in Line Harvest in skirmish and I think one other map that I forgot.
In my second time squading up I teamed up with someone outside the Corp who already knew a thing or two about knifing. We also had a third player in the squad who was a dedicated spotter looking out for any snipers. The map we went into was Ashland in skirmish and it was not all that well. We kept getting split up because the complicated layout of the structures and installations made it all too easy to be broken up as a knifing pair while being constantly surprised by a random heavy or assault popping out of a corner. I don't think we won that map and I had only one kill and that was against a sniper perched on the L-pipe after I chased him up the latter. My knifing partner got at least 10 kills but that was mostly from using remote explosives on the objectives.
The following match was on Skim Junction in skirmish which I hate the most to be honest. Because it is such an open terrain, it is relatively easy to be shot by a random sniper. We spawned on the west side and we decided to split up this time. The knifing partner would attack players in the center of the map since he is used to close quarter confrontations while the spotter would keep an eye out for snipers as I sprint along the edges of the map wanting to kill said snipers. We managed to spot two of them perched on the northeast hill right by the corner of the red line overlooking The E objective. After several failed attempts to get rid of them, I managed to kill them both by surprising them from behind as usual. Once again, every team seems to have a habit of leaving their rear absolutely unattended which is why I was able to get to them from their own side. It wasn't easy at first, but I got to them eventually. Near the end of the match, my knifing partner decided to go all Grand Theft Auto on the enemy's ass and run them over as much as possible. I swear, running people over with LAVs is so much fun.
Well, that's all for now. If any of you feel like teaming up every now and then, let me know. |

This wouldn't be a problem if you folks had at least lost some weight. All that belly fat keeps getting into the transmission. |

Hey Maken!
I saw you in a match last week rocking a proto scout suit. I was on the red team, but it was hilarious to see you run into a squad of mercs and make them panic.. You were jumping around as they fired all over the place.. I had to deal with a firefight and couldn't see if you killed anyone, but you went running away with some shield intact leaving a very disorganized squad in your wake. They ended up getting cut down right after.
All I have to say is it was was a pretty sweet scene. and it almost got me killed becaus ei had to stop for a second and watch
I had just read your previous diaries and I wasn't sure if your figured out the jumping, charging in mid air, and then hitting timing? Is it possible?
The reason I ditched knives was the lack of being able to sprint and charge them. That was a deal killer for me, but it's been fun reading your exploits. I wonder what the new build holds in store for Novas.

my alt WhyCantIDie would love to squad up with you and see who can knife the most people. I average at least 8 a skirmish (killed 5 in a row when I ran out of ammo with my AR 2 days ago). |

I have that effect on people.
In regards to the sprinting, you can do that now by doing the following. Melee+R1(hold). CCP plans to refine that glitch so that it will be automatic instead of having to do a combo. |

I hate to be that guy, but I am gonna tell it to your face.
The fact that CCP or any Devs actually take this guys post seriously is the pinnacle of why this game has so many problems. Nova Knifing is not role, nor is worthy of 10000 characters. In my opinion, this post is unconstructive and should be immediately removed.

That must be same guy who sees you go (0-9) (0-12) when you play against him.
Like I said Nova Knifing will never ever be a role. You can keep on making wall of text self proclaiming your fake role, and how important you're on the battlefield. Its just never going to a role.
To new players, don't even bother with this guy. He is just another bad player passing bad habits, but more importantly a very useless playstyle |

Who cares? Let the man play the game the way he wants. I enjoy his posts, guys like Maken who take the road less traveled at the cost of having 1337 stats make for interesting reading at the very least. Better than the endless stream of whining and QQ threads that flood the forums daily. |

Of course Nova Knifing is a role.
Sure, in its current state, it is not very viable. But that is changing come Uprising.
If it exists, there is a role for it. Nova Knifing is hard to do, but it is also very fun and rewarding. Let people play the way they want, rather than remain being a conceited prick lurking on the forums, trying to convince people they're not as pro as you for using the weapon that they want. |

Guys, I know this may come as a surprise for you, but leave WE LOVE Regnum alone. I don't have any beef with him and neither should you. Besides, I get the feeling he's just wanting to troll bait us into derailing this thread without realizing it. So let him keep swimming on that side of the pond if he wants to. |

Either way, I look forward to being a Ninja come Uprising
If I may ask, are you planning on using the Minmatar Suit? Each one seems to have its advantages for the Nova Knives. Minmatar is faster and has bonus damage, but the Gallente is supposed to be very stealth-oriented, so I'm not sure which fits the Knives better.
What will you be using? I'm fairly certain I'm going to go with Minmatar, but I haven't played Dust in months so I'd like an expert's opinion. |

If you want to take full advantage of the knives, I recommend the Minmatar. That's where I'm going for tomorrow. I would only recommend the Gallente for the stealth approach and breaking through redline situations. |

yo, ninjabro, I think you really effed up man.
Not just getting the gallente, but in how you load out your suit.
With the way damage output is on the wussie weapons (none nova knives), a scout suit can survive for a long time in cqc if it stacks shields. With that, plus quick slashes, you no longer have to sneak up on someone and get a lucky hit to get the kill. You can swing repeatedly and run around.
I have been running knives on my sidearm in this new build and I love it. because of the range nerf, I constantly find myself in cqc. My knives (adv) 1-2 shot just about anyone (not heavies) without charging.
Did I mention they changed spotting and scanning? Almost no one runs the scanning module, and spotting is unreliable too. This means a suit with no profile dampening can easily infiltrate enemy lines. It's actually to easy. You don't need stealth modules. Just speed and EHP.
Seriously, stack shields, and speed modules, and just sprint into the side of an enemy squad. If someone sees you, ignore them and go for someone who doesn't. Use strafe sprint to avoid enemy fire as you sprint into the fray. If they are engaging you're blue dots, the focused required to hit anything now and the chaos will ensure you at least get 2 kills before you need to sprint away.
Also flux grenades freak people out. freaked out people shoot wonky. Wonky shooters are easy kills. |
