You know what would be better than a blog about new maps? New maps! Sound blog? New sounds!
CCP needs to stop making promises, and start delivering. Everything else is just BS. And that BS is getting to the point of making me say F it and just walking away from the game.

Maybe I am cynical, maybe I am a skeptic, or maybe I am a pessimist. This all reads like, we don't want to tell people how far out the actual update is, because if we did, then most of the playerbase would take a long break, and the sales of merc packs would dry up overnight.
People need to stop supporting this with their wallets until CCP gives the players something worth their cash. Considering the content on offer right now, they have been grossly overcompensated for what they have produced thus far. |

The problem is that once you put money into the equation, you have to realize that the situation has completely changed. You are now responsible for delivering a product that people are paying for. CCP needs to realize that most players are not buying Merc Packs or AUR for the game as it is now, they are investing in what they hope that the game will become. The more disenfranchised people become as to when that date will be, the less they are willing to invest and the more bitter they will become that they put money into promises that always just seem to be on the horizon.
Look at what you posted. Its all about blogs that should be coming out promising things that will be out at another time. Its just more teases to promises about dates. Im not faulting you or the DEV team about this as its obvious that you cannot release information without the marketing seal of approval, but it is just the same ol same ol as far as players are concerned. |

I don't feel there is an existing marketing team working for CCP, unless you mean this funny "Oh look this game is soooooooooo awesome" Video with IGN.
The new build is just like the cake.
It is just frustrating playing this maps over and over again to get your weekly amount of SP to keep pace with the other players so you maybe someday can have epic battles against each other.
CCP should take Dust away from the consoles right now and put it on the PC. Because I think there are a lot more people who have the patience to listen to all this "soon" "sooner" "oh sorry, it's just soon again". Port it to the PS3 when its finished. If CCP is testing Dust on their own why do we have an open Beta right now? Why are we testing this Beta over and over again if we don't get any response on our thoughts on this game?
Last but not least: Aurum. Awesome I can pay real money for a ****** up beta to keep pace with other players because their won't be a SP reset after the testing phase. Awesome. So I have to pay for this Beta right now if I don't won't to get pubstomped all the time when Dust 2015 finally hits ther market. Well played CCP.
I think if the Fanfest won't bring anything new to Dust, and I am not talking about another anouncement I will go on and find another interesting game. It will be sad if you have in mind what Dust could have become or might one day will become, but right now I just feel betrayed, especially because of this Aurum bullshit. If somebody now tries to tell me that nobody forces me to buy aurum: Yes they do for the reasons I mentionend above.
I know EVE, I like EVE alot and came with a lot of hope to Dust. CCP you have to prove at least on the fanfest that me and I think alot of other people were not wrong puting all our trust in you guys. And I think I am not the only one thinking this right now. |

Writing a dev blog is a complicated process. Requires peer reviews and editing and editors it also consumes quite a bit of developer's time. Best time to write blogs is right after majority of the feature completion and before the team gets reassigned to help other teams behind on tasks.

0.7 was promised to be a stability build, Devs championed it as a fix build and everyone that was mostly in the know in knew it was a fix build and a non content build.
0.8 is promised to be a major massive content build more so than most of the previous builds combined. From the things I have been seeing so far. Its going to deliver at least something, it wont be an empty build that 0.7 was I can grantee that. I would like to say though that in the future updates similar to 0.7 that is all fixes and no content are likely to happen again. While you will celebrate it for the first week, its benifits get quickly forgotten. Please stop proving marketing right on this aspect the fix patches do not draw in newer players like a new feature build does. |

And every second of that time spent on a dev blog, could have been better spent on something else. If they spent even 5 hours putting together the sound blog, it was a massive waste of time. Same goes for the VFX one.
I stand by my point, that the Dev blogs are nothing more than CCP wanting a pat on the back for work they haven't finished yet.

0.8 is promised as a major content build.
Promised.
All we know is that there will be maps on which we can fight, that will have one of three installations on a relatively featureless map to represent which of the 250 districts we are fighting in.
Nothing else has been confirmed to be in 0.8, except from some vague dev post or tweet.
So we are getting essentially three new maps(one for each type of installation), and the rest is all supposition. If that is a major content build, I am out of here.
Maybe we get weapons, maybe we get those long promised racial suits, maybe we get a player to player trading feature, and so on. That is too many maybes to hope for the future on. It is absolutely too many maybes for me to put another dime into this game.
IWS, I know that you are deeply committed to seeing the franchise succeed. Please stop glad handing for CCP though.
I find it offensive that they put you out front to speak for them instead of speaking for themselves. Either you are a dev alt, or they use you as a front to hide behind. Either way, let them speak about what is coming, because I can't get mad at you for their failings, and that is why they let you be their mouthpiece.
Stop helping them screw us. Please.

Considering I AM marketing, that would be a very hard thing for me to do. Why do you think the common wisdom is to never buy the first year a new car model is out? Everybody knows that there are going to be glitches with it and yet.... people still buy it. Do you know why car companies continue to do this? Because they know through research what consumers' trade offs are and what they value more. What is failing here is that there are no breadcrumbs leading to the next build. There is nothing small to tide people over and keep their appetite for the major changes.
Look at the forums... look at how many people have stated that they are bored with the game right now. How many complaint threads are there about AFK farmers only to have said people come on and say that "Im only doing this because it is in hope that something will change in the near future. Otherwise I would be gone"
IF you invest too much time in the big picture, you will fail to see the ground eroding below your feet. People are crying for something, a new game mode or even just a new map to play on and they are being treated to lip service about being impatient and its just around that next corner.
I feel like Im being led into the desert and hoping to god that CCP is Moses and not some crackpot with sunstroke.

That is the reason why you have to ask them what they want and continue to do so as a way to gauge the route that you take for future updates. Im not talking about something on this forum because people will always want 'everything'.
In marketing research, its called a trade-off analysis. You use it to gauge what is ultimately more important to your customers rather than doing the worst thing possible and assuming what the answer is. If you couple that with a conjoint analysis (which group of features people want most and what they are willing to 'pay' for it) then you have a very good idea of the direction you wish to take.
As far as stability versus content, again, all you need to do is look at the forum. People are complaining about both. People are complaining about the matchmaking process, excessive lag on a 'certain map' that bleeds out memory, problems with hit detection or issues with some skills and even bugs that cause hard restarts which can damage consoles.
Again, its not the issue of what the DEVs are doing but this inability for CCP to ever put a date on anything. Its like they are afraid that people are going to make them accountable to it. Funny thing is, when they started introducing real money to the game, they became automatically accountable. |

you could be right, but at the same time CCP could release it a week before fanfest and then talk about how great dust is going to be using the new build as an example at fanfest. To me.... Fanfest should be a time for CCP to actually start selling the idea of dust to the eve community. Too many eve players go on saying stuff like "what does dust mean to me?" "whats the point in caring about it if it doesn't benefit me?" well..... hopefully the new build will open the way to more interaction between us and eve players, and therefore create a great selling point for CCP to capitolize on and build up some hype about the game! |

I was thinking about something like this a while back and wondering why CCP hasn't released PVE in dust yet. With a learning curve like this PVE is a nice, low stress environment to get used to a game. I think PVE would also give veteran players something to do, just to piddle around while we wait for more content ie more corp stuff. I mean with open beta there was a pretty big tide of new players, and I'm curious how many of those numbers have stayed. I guess I just have to keep telling myself "Be patient Kyro, be patient." as I afk farm my weekly points before going to play something else. |

i will point out that as much as im horrified at CCPs project management...im still here hoping and i still log in every now and then if they fix the core controler problem and add in PvE past time, to me that would save the game + FW, if the next build includeds nothing talked about for the next months other a few maps or maybe a new game mode i think CCP will find the fine red line that have to deal with in consol world. also why would you place your dev teams in 3 different countries thats horrifically bad idea...
support teams sure but your DEV units :\ |
