I didn't like the old ambush spawns. It was definitely a kill or be killed spawn in, unless you get the 4v1 one way or another.
This new spawn system isn't bad for the beginning of the game. It puts team members together and usually squad mates. Every once in awhile a sacrificial lamb is thrown into the blues.
But it is ruining the 1v1 that alot of us used to enjoy.
If you run solo 1/2 the time like I do, meeting up with a 1v1 or 2v1 was alot of fun, you got to know who was good and who wasnt.
If you run with a squad, you would have to pick your way to them (fun too) and it enhanced squad play (if you wanted it).
This new spawn system is a blob mentality. There are hardly any 1v1's anymore. I played a good 8 hours tonight and had maybe 3 TRUE 1v1s. The rest was team fire the blob or flank the blob to fire them. It wasn't very engaging.
I would suggest a hybrid spawn system. Spawn each team by each other, they can set squad orders and organize from there. But after that first death, you get the old spawn system and it's up in the air where you land.
As it stands now, if a blob of opponents get killed. All we have to do is look for the next red dot sighting on map and run to it, because we know they will all be there to get farmed. This makes OBs ridiculously OP.
I am not "whining" because I am losing, I am "whining" because I am winning... handily.
This not only affects infantry, it affects tankers more.
Example: Tanker kills 6, gets told by squad where they are all spawning again (B). Tanker goes to B, all 6 spawn in AV and wipe tank out with team fire.
The old way had it's flaws but was much better than this new spawn system.
If there is anyway to combine the two in the next.... year, I would suggest doing it.
Otherwise it's a blob mentality game mode and the death of true Player vs. Player. |

kind of off topic.. but maybe not.
i think a 4v4 cb ambush type, with rounds, 1 life and no vehicles/ob's would be a cool alternative to getting those battles you're after as well. |

It's not just shotgunners, but everyone. But I hear what you're saying.
We had an ambush last about 4.5 mins tonight thanks to this spawn system. Am i bitching about the time? Not at all, was a quick game for SP, but was it fun... nope. |

This game was never meant to be a 1v1 game, its whole concept and play style and advancement indicates a team based/blob mentality. Building a char to 1v1 is very much a shortsighted strategy and the whole spawn system in the old ambush (that I benefited greatly from) just led to a series of easy kills and extremely short high intensity 1v1s and 2v1's and where a good squad working together would easily clean up the map in circles. Now things require more coordinated fire and working together in squads to get things done.
The weapons have range for a reason, start using the range on them and focus less on getting in close for the old grenade shooting cqc.
Now commanders are calling in troops in massive blobs to set up fire bases and have more group team fire with interlocking systems of fire. now if you attack 1 guy he will duck behind cover and you have probably 3-6 more guys to deal with if you cant finish that dude off.
its a different play style for sure.
gonna have to save your 1v1's and 1v2's for skirmish and corp matches. oh wait.... people tend to work together in one of those. |

2-Ton, all HMGs that level sharpshooter up now can shoot across the map, thats broken, needs to be fixed. Gotta love those HMGs that camp on top of buildings now. I don't use grenades much, I'm AR specifically, if you played the game, you'd know.
1. This game's spawn system on both modes has been the same for the past 10 months. Then all of a sudden it changes to blob spawns. All I am asking is for them to come up with a mix between the two. The first spawn in establishes squad mentality. After that, it is up to team/squad to be on the same page to win. Why reduce it to forced mass spawns?
What if all my teammates are camped and I don't want to spawn with them? The game doesn't give me a random choice anymore, it spawns me where it "thinks" is most appropriate, which is usually by my teammates.
The last two sentences you typed in your first point contradict each other, I would re-read them and come up with something else to debate your point. |

Who cares if it has been the same for 2 years? just because it has been that way for 10 months and its what we are used to is meaningless to me anyway.
As for shooting across the map with a hmg sure its a fine option for a hmg user however again it has its limitations with the number of lasers on the enemy blob. if your going to range shoot your hmg your probably better off switching to a laser anyway or a sniper rifle. you will get far more kills that way and far less effort and reloading time.
Your statement to my statement is contradictory. "The first spawn in establishes squad mentality. After that, it is up to team/squad to be on the same page to win. Why reduce it to forced mass spawns?(well because your stuck with your team whether you like it or not. What if all my teammates are camped and I don't want to spawn with them? (what your team does affects you for better or worse) The game doesn't give me a random choice anymore, it spawns me where it "thinks" is most appropriate, which is usually by my teammates. (your teammates need to think better about their overall position with regards to the whole match not just whats best for them."
Basically at one side your saying that the first spawn matters because of team fighting mentality but after that you dont want it to matter if they messed it up and their team in a ****** position.
Well if your team gets boxed into a corner on the first spawn and has to be forced to push out or get a OB dropped on their head then they did not work together well and thus pay the price for it.
It should not establish "squad" mentality it should establish "team" mentality. If your team is under siege and pushed to a tiny corner of the map who the hell would not want to spawn somewhere else?!
I think we all would, I think the whole point (now) is that you now have to fight as a team to get out of a ****** situation the team has put you in, and if you dont you die as a team.
I suppose i think that the ambush is the initial contact and after that you have formed your battle lines and then its up to the teams to fight better then the other one and destroy the enemy where as the old system was everyone spawning everywhere over the course of the entire match and it was about the best players picking off the weaker ones as we rumbled around the map like living gods.
I am not saying I am apposed to your suggestion but like with all changes we should wait a few months before changing anything again. after people adapt to the new system then look at changing it. In like I dont know 10 months or so.

The only problem I have with the new system is that it works on a "weighting" system, and it over-values the defensive value of teammates and undervalues the threat of enemies.
I've posted as much in the Feedback section's sticky thread about it.
If the majority of your team are in an indefensible location with enemies raining death on them, you'll be spawned into that situation - unless you've set up a Drop Uplink somewhere else and can use that instead. It's the same workaround we always had, but for a different reason. |

Exactly. It's a team game, not 1v1 duels. In the old spawn system, I'd never even think of bringing my logi fitting. A solo logi is a dead logi. Every piece of gear it has is meant to help another player; and before the change, I'd rarely live long enough to find enough blues to be worth the price of the suit. But with the new set-up, I can be fairly certain I'll see a friendly when I spawn, and he'll probably need ammo or repping to boot. |

It didn't change all of a sudden, people have been begging for a different spawn system for a while.
The spawn system isn't perfect but it's better than spawning in between two enemy shotguns. 1v1 & 1v2 ruined, so what? That's not how the game is meant to be played. Go play CoD if you don't want to work as a team. |

Yea i hate the new spawn mechanic.
If one side is getting stomped then it becomes an even bigger steamroll with the whole team descending on the freshly spawned enemy team over and over again. The maps simply aren't big enough to support the spawn mechanic.
It's like a perpetual spawn camp at times. Made worse by tanks and orbitals on open field maps.
At least with the random spawn players could get lucky and set themselves up in a nice position, flank the enemy or create distance to snipe etc.
It might not be so bad if there was decent match making in the game. But until then the mechanic needs a ton of work. |

Cyn is absolutely right......I've noticed this the first day of the new spawn system but never posted in the feedback section.
Before, you used to have some real action because players used to be all over the place. Now, there is a line drawn in ambush that is rarely crossed. So, now you have these shooting matches that gets boring really fast. I started to play amb to get some nice cqc fights but you can't. |

I used to run a Nove Knife (Yes, you heard right ) and shotgun fit, I could get some pretty decent scores, it was fun and thats why I played it.
Now that fit is obsolete, its no fun sneaking up on someone and as you turn a corner being greeted by players packing Gek/Duvolles.
It also makes OBs twice as effective as they were before, everyone spawns in a group, so usually every OB is worth 5-16 clones. |

I also never thought I would see the day when someone complained about the lack of 1v1 in a FPS setting. This isn't exactly knightly combat, brosaf.
No it more American Revolutionary War era combat where two enemy armies march to a standing line point and shoot at each other.
There is a reason why guerilla tactics were created and this new spawn system +(VERY SMALL SIZES) creates this contant battle front scenario.
It lame and boring and not at all inspiring. Sigh im just going to end each of my posts with this link from now on

I like the new system because it promotes team play and leads to some excellent firefights, but as others have said if your team gets trapped you all get spawned into a shitload of fire, it also makes breakouts difficult because you get the entire enemy team surrounding you. The one thing i really liked about the old system was how it could spawn you into a position where if you were smart you could turn the enemy's flank and keep the game mobile. and these days OB's are just a kill entire enemy team button. |

Right?
I just take the long way around the blob with my HMG and do the slow approach from cover. Then I strut behind a group of five and just drop everybody before they can react. Occasionally someone shows up to stop me and we have our little 1v1.
Or I do the frontal assault thing and we trade fire from cover.
People need to focus more on doing whatever is required to win. Both situations always manifest themselves one way or another. |

By addressing the spawn system, it will create whatever players desire. As it is now, it forces a certain type of gameplay.
This is definitely a squad based shooter, I totally agree with that. And it is one of the things I like about it the most. The game mode this should be most evident in is skirmish.
Let's just say for instance they fixed the spawn system as I suggested. Would it ruin team or squad based play? Not at all, it would make it more communication based.
Example: I get killed, my squad is at D, I am a B on the plateaus map. We communicate this and try to hook up quickly. The problem being there are 2 open areas between us. I have to fight my way to them and they to me.
With this old spawn system, I will usually spawn around the largest mass of blue/green dots. There is no working toward a reunion and I have no "say" in the matter unless someone has dropped an uplink.
Old system would randomly place me on the map, communication betwen squad members was required to come together. New system we all spawn around each other regardless of whether we are being camped or not.
I do understand what alot of you are saying about the current system. And as I said, the very first spawn in is great.
I just think all the spawn ins after should be randomized around the map. This would require you to communicate and think about best path to your squad.
And also create some solo gameplay that is entirely lacking atm.
There is a happy medium between these two systems, just hope CCP can find it.

How about they just always give you the option for a random spawn like they have the option of whether or not you want to spawn at the CRU/uplinks. That way the people that like spawning with their team; as well as the people that like randomly spawning on some point of the map can both be happy.

All people who have specd into those categories are happy with the new spawns.
I would prefer the hybrid idea
I would strike HMG from that list personally. I did better under the old spawn system. that might just be how i play heavy though. this way i have 4 lasers mowing me down whenever i try to advance across the death valley.
and you forgot ARs with SS do benefit from this as well |

Blob spawns have been implemented horribly and have no place in organized clan vs clan battles. The game shouldn't blob people together every spawn like it does now. Blobbing the initial spawn is fine. However the game shouldn't force people to play together and roll around as a group. That is something that the players should take it upon themselves to do.
Blob spawning has only continued to dumb this game down. |

Yea i love how people who clamor that 1v1 battles should have no place in a "tactical" shooter are perfectly content in a game that takes the "player" driven "tactical" aspect out of it and puts everyone together rather than relying on comms to get the job done.
It all boils down to the fact that comms are still set up in the dumbest manner, it should have been and always be voice chat on, ptt off and auto default to team even if in squad.
Any player who say i dont want to hear others on comm you can use the mute function. Vox should be about serving the best interests of the gameplay and frankly players who dont want to be in team chat or hear ppl breathing can mute which is a far smaller population that the overall size of gameplay. Fact that players dont V com is their own fault and the game shouldnt make it EASIER for you to get TOGETHER BY FORCING SPAWNS TOGETHER.
Every move CCP makes is designed for players to basically remain antisocial cretons who want the illusion that they are playing tactically when they have absolutely no clue what they are doing. So they create smaller maps to force players together and they create a spawn system that is utterly EZ mode.
But hey, this only benefits my Mass Driver and i love getting 17 kill OB strikes since the algorithm is dumb enough to respawn players back into my orbital.
Said it before if you gave the old spawn system 10-15 seconds before choosing to spawn back in rather than jump back in like a headless chicken it actually worked to find a good spawn spot relatively close to squadmates.
But you keep telling yourself the spawns are better and leads to more epic gunfights. Gunfights only seem epic when you fight against other players who are equally clueless and skill-less. But honestly im just going to sit back and give it about a month.
I figure a month of STB 4 man tank spam and multiple orgainzed squads dropping 2-3 OBs and utterly decimating everything not to mention the constant flood of YT videos of teams going 70+ clones to 0 in ambush will change everyones tune.
Till then ill let darwinism takeover.
On a final note i really LOL that Negative-Feedback players are painted BOTH AS 1V1 SCRUBS that should go back to COD at the same time as we are accused of being PROTOBEAR SQUAD PUBSTOMPING AND TEAMSTACKING QUE SYNCERS that run ONLY IN SQUADS. |

The ARs benefit with SS benefit and hmgs with SS plus having a bigger clips and similar range don't? Cause that makes sense
From what I have seen with the new spawns, ARs don't put up the same numbers as before either. Occasionally they can put up 20+kills but it's not just his AR doing it. He is just happens to get the killing shot on most of the guys.
The heavies I have noticed have been putting up bigger numbers than before because they are a wall (defending like they should) that the enemy has to push through. So lesson from the new spawns is heavies who defend put up better number, which is how their role should be played. |

You could also title this the "Death of Squads in Ambush"
It's not just the death of the small fights you and I like but also just the concept of the squad.
Everyone on the entire team spawns in one blob and runs for the blob on the other side.
Players are learning nothing at all from this.
This has no application for corp battles.
This has no application for other game types.
They don't learn good weapon use, as they just point in the right general direction with other blueberries. They have no clue how successful their pointing was other then random kills they get from randomly putting the last bullet in someone.

QFT, CCP needs to hurry along with a PVE arena for all these blueberries so they can return pubs back to merciless ruthless gameplay doesnt try to appeal to the casual market, let the carebears learn in PVE arenas and SP or Gear restricted pub arena.
Gimme back a competitive PVP that doesnt revolve around the broken CB system, or give me a better CB/FW system already. Hell give me both sometimes a merc just wants to have fun. |

Bad troll... bad you should feel bad about yourself re-read OP and subsequent posts by OP.
Edit- Though i agree that OP could have phrased thread title better, bad OP bad. It buried the overarching theme to bring focus on one aspect of the entirety of the flaws in the system, then again OP clarifies in subsequent posts. |

First spawn is awesome for team and squads to use Drop Up Links...after that the spawn camping vs noobs is rough...but noobs can use DU's too. They may patch and improve. No one can deny it is better then the "firing squad" system that was. So thanks for the improvement. |

I deny it is better.
Its much worse for the reasons I cited. Newbs are learning nothing about being part of a squad or how to shoot.
Enlarge the maps, add spawn points and revert to the old random system.
People won't get camped, they'll be forced to talk to their squads and join up with them.
