I didn't like the old ambush spawns. It was definitely a kill or be killed spawn in, unless you get the 4v1 one way or another.
This new spawn system isn't bad for the beginning of the game. It puts team members together and usually squad mates. Every once in awhile a sacrificial lamb is thrown into the blues.
But it is ruining the 1v1 that alot of us used to enjoy.
If you run solo 1/2 the time like I do, meeting up with a 1v1 or 2v1 was alot of fun, you got to know who was good and who wasnt.
If you run with a squad, you would have to pick your way to them (fun too) and it enhanced squad play (if you wanted it).
This new spawn system is a blob mentality. There are hardly any 1v1's anymore. I played a good 8 hours tonight and had maybe 3 TRUE 1v1s. The rest was team fire the blob or flank the blob to fire them. It wasn't very engaging.
I would suggest a hybrid spawn system. Spawn each team by each other, they can set squad orders and organize from there. But after that first death, you get the old spawn system and it's up in the air where you land.
As it stands now, if a blob of opponents get killed. All we have to do is look for the next red dot sighting on map and run to it, because we know they will all be there to get farmed. This makes OBs ridiculously OP.
I am not "whining" because I am losing, I am "whining" because I am winning... handily.
This not only affects infantry, it affects tankers more.
Example: Tanker kills 6, gets told by squad where they are all spawning again (B). Tanker goes to B, all 6 spawn in AV and wipe tank out with team fire.
The old way had it's flaws but was much better than this new spawn system.
If there is anyway to combine the two in the next.... year, I would suggest doing it.
Otherwise it's a blob mentality game mode and the death of true Player vs. Player. |

You are correct, it was a 2v1 vs. you and another red dot in the bowl map. I killed you, other guy killed me. Happy? Back on topic my brother from another mother.

Have heard from.certain shotgunners that this spawn system really screws with them. Where they were once use to one or two people spawning, now they get a guy spawning and then it is their whole team.
It's not just shotgunners, but everyone. But I hear what you're saying.
We had an ambush last about 4.5 mins tonight thanks to this spawn system. Am i bitching about the time? Not at all, was a quick game for SP, but was it fun... nope. |

1. This game was never meant to be a 1v1 game, its whole concept and play style and advancement indicates a team based/blob mentality. Building a char to 1v1 is very much a shortsighted strategy and the whole spawn system in the old ambush (that I benefited greatly from) just led to a series of easy kills and extremely short high intensity 1v1s and 2v1's and where a good squad working together would easily clean up the map in circles. Now things require more coordinated fire and working together in squads to get things done.
2. The weapons have range for a reason, start using the range on them and focus less on getting in close for the old grenade shooting cqc.
Addressing 2 first:
2-Ton, all HMGs that level sharpshooter up now can shoot across the map, thats broken, needs to be fixed. Gotta love those HMGs that camp on top of buildings now. I don't use grenades much, I'm AR specifically, if you played the game, you'd know.
1. This game's spawn system on both modes has been the same for the past 10 months. Then all of a sudden it changes to blob spawns. All I am asking is for them to come up with a mix between the two. The first spawn in establishes squad mentality. After that, it is up to team/squad to be on the same page to win. Why reduce it to forced mass spawns?
What if all my teammates are camped and I don't want to spawn with them? The game doesn't give me a random choice anymore, it spawns me where it "thinks" is most appropriate, which is usually by my teammates.
The last two sentences you typed in your first point contradict each other, I would re-read them and come up with something else to debate your point. |

By addressing the spawn system, it will create whatever players desire. As it is now, it forces a certain type of gameplay.
This is definitely a squad based shooter, I totally agree with that. And it is one of the things I like about it the most. The game mode this should be most evident in is skirmish.
Let's just say for instance they fixed the spawn system as I suggested. Would it ruin team or squad based play? Not at all, it would make it more communication based.
Example: I get killed, my squad is at D, I am a B on the plateaus map. We communicate this and try to hook up quickly. The problem being there are 2 open areas between us. I have to fight my way to them and they to me.
With this old spawn system, I will usually spawn around the largest mass of blue/green dots. There is no working toward a reunion and I have no "say" in the matter unless someone has dropped an uplink.
Old system would randomly place me on the map, communication betwen squad members was required to come together. New system we all spawn around each other regardless of whether we are being camped or not.
I do understand what alot of you are saying about the current system. And as I said, the very first spawn in is great.
I just think all the spawn ins after should be randomized around the map. This would require you to communicate and think about best path to your squad.
And also create some solo gameplay that is entirely lacking atm.
There is a happy medium between these two systems, just hope CCP can find it.
