Ok so I would like to say that I love the Game BUT I love the AR play style in FPS that is the only class I truly enjoy playing that being said..... I feel that if there are not going to be any attachments anytime soon then there really needs to be an adjustment to the AR iron sights. Everyone I have asked agrees that the sights now are terriable. My point is that if all Iron sights are going to be the same then I think we all would agree that the sights should be thinner or something so that the sights dont completly cover the enemy, or at least give the different guns different sights, so that we have choices to find what fits us as indviduales, we all shoot differently so why should every AR have the same sights (keep in mind im only referancing the Iron Sighted AR) Please let me know what U all think out there!! And please CCP look at this because the sights are ruining the fun Ive always had with DUST 514.Other than that the game is making great progress!! |

I would like to say while having Iron Sights may seem like a burden but I've gotten past it as well as others i would assume, the ones that do come with scopes are meh in my opinion, maybe its me but it seems to increase recoil a lot more than it should but that could be just me. The IS seem to work better for me in my opinion but this is coming from someone who has played a few FPS's that offered no scopes or anything like that for AR so I'm used to it, but with all these customization options that we have nowadays I'm kinda surprised CCP doesn't have something like this in place it could be in development or it will never be giving the weapons some form of balance or uniqueness.
Say if they do implement a weapon customization option how will they go about it? I can see something like this happening
A) The attachments are separate from the weapon itself allowing you to buy and attach what you see fit just like the weapons they be lost in battle after use. What i see with this is allowing the weapon to be changed at any time and allows a deeper customization. This will probably add to the already confusing menu layout and design but having another menu option for weapon customization is probably something we will need for this.
B) Before you finish buying the weapon you have an option to attach such thing thus increasing the base price so lets say you have a GEK(6000 isk i think) and you attach a Holo Sight(250 ISK) Silencer(500 ISK) and extended mag(oh lawd 1000 ISK) you now pay 7750 ISK for a 'Custom GEK' that you can restock. Slight problem with this is parts are unchangeable and once you hit that buy option you can no longer change the weapon attachments so if you want something you will have to go through this process to have something else. |

I don't see a problem with the iron sights. If your sights totally cover up the redberrys then they are way out of range and/or you're aiming wrong.
If you find yourself that far out on a regular basis then use the tactical. Sorry.....pray then use the tactical. |

Don`t get me wrong guys I like IS it`s just this particular one I`m not a fan of. I like the AUG or the Galil (in BO) or however u spell it.. I guess I might just be touchy with this stuff as shooters dont come natural to me It takes a lot of work, and some IS just dont work for me not from a lack of efforts by any means. Thanks for imput so far |

Good to note that, if you're aiming with the AR, and your sight is completely covering your target... you're too far.
The normal full-auto assault rifles SHOULD be totally inaccurate at that range, but they're not. lol So people end up TRYING to shoot at those stupid-long ranges, and you end up getting issues like the one you raised.
If anything, that reduction in your accuracy because of the iron sights was intentional. Sorry.
It would be reasonable to allow you the option to add scopes, but this raised balancing issues, MAINLY with the full-auto assault rifles.
I wouldn't mind you AR guys getting your scopes back, but you would need to suffer a vulgar hit to your AR spread to compensate. |

I agree with the poster, the iron sights are pretty much useless because the forward reticule is too fat. if standard today is a small ring at rear and a small stick front, why in the far future of superior warfare would the revert to a worse iron sight design.. I know its a made up universe, but still..
leaving that aside. having other sight options you can unlock with skill points to attack to your guns would be awesome...
but I would go further and tie those unlocks to specific weapons not make them available to all guns.
for example if I could locked a different sight for my weapon every 20 kills or so, and only for that weapon, it means I have to use the gun and get good results to unlock other things for it.. seems good to me. I would like to be able to add a red dot or irnv scope to an assault rifle of my choice. and perhaps not just scopes either. maybe a laser sight or extended mag, a pulse blade bayonet or some other attachment.

Yes, the sights are kind of bulky. Makes sense though, I guess. I must admit that sometimes even at reasonably close range I find myself releasing ADS to get a better view (usually in busy, clustered environments/situations). I don't think it really needs a change though.
On the other hand, I would support both more types of AR (different designs/functionalities) as well as customization options through upgrade modules (this could be in the form of an extra slot which holds weapon attachments and could be used for any weapon, this could include enhanced scopes, bigger clips, recoil reducers, more effective cooling systems, RoF enhancers, range-extenders, etc. etc.) |

Am pretty sure that devs have said a number of times that gun customisation has been built but not yet implemented. I am presuming it will be integrated into the game at 'official' release. I would search for the link on the forums but posting from phone. Sorry |

Man, bleep new designs to the iron sights and give us different RDS, scopes, etc to choose from. Iron sights are fine as they are and should be the same. No need for CCP to waste time developing new iron sights when they can use the time to do other things |

Wish you could swap between two modes on the AR. Three Round Burst for long range accurate fire and Full Auto for shorter range inaccurate fire.

Breach shotgun extended mags, laser sight and slugs... mmmm the tears will be delicious. I think we'll get different ammo types and rig slots (extended mags, sights, stabilizers and such) that will offer benefits / drawbacks like in EVE. (I hope).
The ammo types will trade damage for range. So you could have an EMP (High damage / low range) HMG that shreds people at really close range. Or a Radio (Low damage, long range) Laser Rifle that can hit snipers on their hills. Or a Lead (Average range / damage) AR that is similar to what we have now.
Here are the three ammo types:
- Frequency Crystals (Laser Rifle, Scrambler Pistol) - Hybrid Charges (Assault Rifle, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Forge Gun) - Projectile Ammo (Heavy Machine Gun, SMG) |

And what he means by rig slots? If you haven't played eve I'll explain as he forgot to mention They are slots that you can add subsystems (attachments, weapon:system attachment:subsystem) and it takes up calibration points |

I am assuming (hoping) that our guns will come with 3 slots on them called "rigs" which will allow us to upgrade certain things. That's probably where we'll get scopes and other things.
The big thing in EVE is that each Rig has a bonus and a negative. So you get 10% more damage for 10% more turret PG use (for example). I hope they do the same thing in DUST. So a Tech I scope gets you a scope but increases the CPU usage of the gun by 10%. Or a larger clip may increase your total ammo by 10% but also increase recoil by 10%. It's a tradeoff. In EVE, skills can be trained to reduce this negative but it's often a big SP sink (there are a lot of Rig skills).

I think it is funny, future IS are inferior to the ones we have today. There is a reason the most succesful military today uses those circular back, post in the front sights, not a flat rail of WWII. They are easier to site your target without hindering vision, thus increasing the soldiers battle field awarness. |
