Being an avid EVE player one of the main staples to a salvage fit was the tractor beam. Let us give logistics a tractor beam. Your squad/team mate is down and there is a fire fight going on around you and you can't reach him safely or even if you did he would just fall again? A tractor beam would be a solution. It would be able to pull downed team members to your location so that you could revive them. Maybe a longer range than the repair tool for those wide open maps. |

I think this should be the secondary fire mode of the flux gun itself, slowly drags the player in, better flux tool the faster it drags him in, also affected by the suit weight, so heavy takes longer then a scout

No more a giveaway than the Repair Tool currently is. And you are inside a suit of armor that can take a rail gun round to the chest and simply fall over I think it can survive being drug upon the ground towards a target for less than 10m.
Some of that from your poor grammar I did not understand the point you wanted to make. |

wut? lol
The whole point of the beam is to drag someone to cover where you can res without the reser getting shot.
you would obviously be behind cover from enemy fire when you use the beam but can see the dropsuit you want to res, you would then pull him toward you to the safety of the cover you are in then you would res him.
Did I just have to explain that? :P I hope to god this is a language barrier..... |

I like this. It would use an equipment slot, and be just like when i switch from my nanite to my repair tool. Now I would be able to switch from my tractor beam to my nanite, then to my repair tool. A true combat medic is born! |

Please don't belittle the grammar of other people when your own is equally terrible.
With that said, I approve of this idea. I've fallen victim to being revived a few times by the same medic to fall victim to the same sniper. I had to spam the respawn to get out of it. This idea, though far from perfect, is a step in the right direction. My suggestion here is to give it a short range, that way there is some risk involved in using it. Like a soldier might currently do, you should at the very least be able to drag a comrade to safety before administering first aid...
...but not without risk to the person dragging them. |

This does sound like a great idea. It'll increase the Logi's capabilities on the battlefield and make them a lot more useful. And it will certainly cut down on the crappy revives some blue dots are giving. |

lol this sounds more comical that useful. Whats going to be left to revive after you drug his body across a desert smacking anything in his way, or tractor beaming him off a roof and smacking the ground, or repeatedly smashing him against a ledge because you are at an elevated area.... XD
How about a dart gun with limited uses and range. Doesnt support nanohives or emplacements. Must change suits to refill, if it could be refilled actively it would be an easy exploit. |

How would the dart gun solve anything? It would just be a long range nanite injector and would do nothing to solve the problem of getting owned as you get revived especially. The point of this tractor beam is to get "revivees" into cover so they can't be wiped out by the sniper who took them out in the first place.
The best way I can see of solving this is making it short range so there is some risk to the operator in dragging his buddy into a safe location to "stabilize" the soldier. |

This is like forty thousand years into the future. I don't want to have to do manual labor like that. I want to drag the bodies with a fancy gadget.
Make it like 10m for range on the same plane so you cannot be higher or lower than your intended target and put it deeper into the skill tree so that only dedicated logistics operatives are using it and not being pulled randomly by someone when your down. Give it a higher CPU so that it functions really well on Logistics suits but not on others.
It would go a long way to seeing improved squad tactics on maps because then it would also become a fight for good medic locations and revive spots. |

Professormohawk wrote:or we could just bend down and drag the body to cover The problem with this is that coding plus animation and mechanics enabling all people to be able to drag a body would be far too much work. The best solution is clearly to add either an alt fire to the repair gun or, better yet, a new re-skinned tool with which to drag people, plus the relevant skills. |

i rather like the drag beam, especially since that would A] give more incentive to go for such a useful thing B} make it so you dont get bodycamped like i've seen so often [or been the victim of] and C] gives the slightly squishy logig a chance to actually do hsi job as a reviver without fear of that lolsniper that killed the guy in the first place.

its just a lazy way of getting people up without risking themself to leave cover while giving a dead giveway to shoot this person. personally if this was ever allowed i would like it to force the use to bring the body there without the ability to change to a weapon or move so i can line up a head shot on them ending their cowardice ways.
i think i have said it before but yea. NO STAR WARS IN DUST PLEASE. |

i think i have said it before but yea. NO STAR WARS IN DUST PLEASE. most of the time the logy gets them both killed. this will help them both live. its not a 100% fail safe method it still has flaws. though i agree with the last bit, immobilizing the logy makes sense. and dude, we're clone troopers |

i hate to say it but Tractor beam tech exists in EvE, so its not starwars.
second, it could be a viable tactic, since they probably wouldnt be able to move while dragging someone back.
as for cowardice... look in the mirror douche, if you really think it's cowardly, then dont be a sniper, come say hi to my mass driver :3 |

The graphics for a beam however are already in the game and so coding would probably be a one man job for the day. |

I been wondering why we can't do this? The times I don't have an injector, and the area is clear. I have been wanting to pick up the dying peep and take him to my buddy whom has injector. |

If you move the drag speed would be lower. If you stay still it is quicker. If you can't move and the drag speed is to low then why use it? Or base range of 5m plus an additional 5 meters for each other with a training speed of x8 or x10. Or make the range 15m with an increase to drag speed for each level you put into the skill. It would be a delicate balance to be sure. |

I would rather make this a vehicle turret support function. Granted, tractor beams probably don't follow traditional Newtonian models, but somehow it makes more sense to me that you'd need something bigger than a logi suit to run the tractor beam. |

EDIT: or at least give us an option to carry the fallen... with the O button when near the body... and when in safety of some terrain obstacle, pressing L1 would deliver the jab after activating injector and bringing team member online... As I have mentioned previously, carrying the fallen is not particularly possible as the work involved would be too complicated.
A re-skin or alt fire to the repair gun is the simplest option as the graphics already exist and so coding is all that needs to be done. If it was an alt fire then this skill could also be universal for all those running repair tools. |
