So i have been watching some youtube videos and reading some articles about dust around the web and everywhere i look people are hating on dust. And when people explain to them that it is a beta the respond "When you fanboys gonna stop using that excuse?" they obviously never played any real betas because in my experience the beta game doesnt really represent the game at all. BF3s beta was crap but full game was amazing for example Maybe it because alot of developers are using betas as demos now adays Anyway Im just sick of the dust hate. It is going to be a fantastic game (is now) cant wait for more updates |

they're butthurt because there's way more to the game than point and shoot. i liked bad company 2, i hated BF3.. but i sold both those games already, i might buy back bad company 2 for vietnam that was my fav, but Dust is not anything like those game it is a tracking shooter AND tactical combined. it is not pure tracking neither is it pure tactical it is BOTH FTW |

They don't understand that most beta's that are release are pretty much the full game without a little polish. This beta was an alpha compared to the BF3 beta.
That and they're a bunch of wusses that can't stand being a turd when they start out. You just have to get some SP and polish that turd up! |

We are alike on this matter.
On the topic, I'm personally tired of people who bash every "beta" excuse and only agree with it when everything is really broken apart and dumbed down for them. It just doesn't seem easy for them to understand that everything in this game may be subject to change at this point in time... *sigh* |

No. That's because whilst BF3 had an open beta, Dust 514 is just a rushed release with a Beta label on it as an excuse.
Most players won't come back to a game they felt wasn't good, beta or no beta. This open beta is effectively using up Dust's precious new car smell and right now it's not even smelling very good. |

I feel like my forehead is going to collapse inward from so many facepalms.
Rushed release? Please. The official release has been planned for this summer, as stated in one of the interviews with the devs. Not to mention that the game's state can't even be considered released at this point, so many bugs and balancing issues need to be fixed, so much content needs to be added.
Moreover, is one month considered very long time for you? That's how long the game has been in open beta. |

Dude you had to buy into minecraft beta It will get more updates and no one told you to spend money on it Also the only reason the data is saves is because they put it on the same server as eve where we were allowed to make corps and have eve contacts It would wipe the dust made corps that eve players are in and there's probably other problems surrounding that situation you r just another hater gtfo if you don't like it |

Regardless of how much validity you put on the "beta" tag the game is open to the public for play and discussion. If people don't like the game then they are welcome to voice their opinion. I know plenty of people who have tried the game and don't like it. their reasons are pretty sound.
I think it is pretty telling that many of the people who defend Dust do so by praising what the game will be, not what it is now. |

Um, yeah? Because it is still beta. The game is probably going to change all over hundred times and potentially disprove all reasons that your friends came up with to not to play Dust.

Comment lifted right from youtube:
"Played the beta..all I have to say is they need to change the name to "Confusing Ass Call Of Duty" It took me 10 min to figure out how to get to a battle after I chose my character..and when the game is released we lose our guns whenn++ we die? F THAT Let us keep our guns..make respawn faster and gun customization simpler like COD is..more interesting maps, and then this game has potential."
Kind of typifies the attitude behind the hate. A complete and total unwillingness to play something even slightly different. And yet the entire internet is full of hate for COD because it is alwayGǪ theGǪ freakingGǪ same. Game after game after game. COD doesn't even have to have a beta, really, because it is always just the same game.
Dust is still really rough around the edges. But at least it is a change from the ordinary.
Don't get me wrong. I like playing COD multiplayer. And when I want to play that style of multiplayer I sure as hell don't load up DUST. I load upGǪ well, kind of tired of COD BOPs 2 already.
The clan support and team support in Dust, as terrible and clunky as it can be, is miles ahead of almost any other shooter on consoles. Sure you can jump in a match with some friends and get invited right through the PSN in other shooters. That is fun. But Dust is something much more. Just as it is.

4x space games are a failry played out genre as well, considering.
The hope is that CCP can use the basic premise (you the player experience the game from a first person point of view, and you shoot stuff) and make something unique of it. |

The problem with the game is that as times goes on and the original playerbase drops unless major changes are made in the game mechanics then new players won't really have any incentive to play as they'll be so far behind and uncompetitive. |

The issue i have isn't with whether DUST has flaws etc., it's with the total ignorance of some of these reviewers. And it's not just random peeps on youtube either - there are many examples of game journalists reviewing the game with obviously no understanding of the mechanics of the game - playing for hours without customizing a dropsuit fitting or buying and training a skill. Or misunderstanding OBs and precision strikes. Or pay-to-win. The list goes on.
But to balance that I've seen a lot of word-of-mouth giving DUST some very solid PR.
I'd say that on balance, the word-of-mouth is already trumping the ignorance.

The fact that another company did all the market research, coding, polishing, and marketing in half the time of CCP spent just on development of the alpha we have now and still might beat them to market is sad.
We are not in beta until there is more to this game than a lobby shooter. |
