And when people explain to them that it is a beta the respond "When you fanboys gonna stop using that excuse?" they obviously never played any real betas because in my experience the beta game doesnt really represent the game at all. BF3s beta was crap but full game was amazing for example Maybe it because alot of developers are using betas as demos now adays Anyway Im just sick of the dust hate. It is going to be a fantastic game (is now) cant wait for more updates The people that hate it dont understand why its not like COD or BF where when you shoot someone 3-4 times with a submachine gun they die, on this game it takes smarts and skills not just aim and shoot so they dont like it
Comment lifted right from youtube:
"Played the beta..all I have to say is they need to change the name to "Confusing Ass Call Of Duty" It took me 10 min to figure out how to get to a battle after I chose my character..and when the game is released we lose our guns whenn++ we die? F THAT Let us keep our guns..make respawn faster and gun customization simpler like COD is..more interesting maps, and then this game has potential."
Kind of typifies the attitude behind the hate. A complete and total unwillingness to play something even slightly different. And yet the entire internet is full of hate for COD because it is alwayGǪ theGǪ freakingGǪ same. Game after game after game. COD doesn't even have to have a beta, really, because it is always just the same game.
Dust is still really rough around the edges. But at least it is a change from the ordinary.
Don't get me wrong. I like playing COD multiplayer. And when I want to play that style of multiplayer I sure as hell don't load up DUST. I load upGǪ well, kind of tired of COD BOPs 2 already.
The clan support and team support in Dust, as terrible and clunky as it can be, is miles ahead of almost any other shooter on consoles. Sure you can jump in a match with some friends and get invited right through the PSN in other shooters. That is fun. But Dust is something much more. Just as it is.

4x space games are a failry played out genre as well, considering.
The hope is that CCP can use the basic premise (you the player experience the game from a first person point of view, and you shoot stuff) and make something unique of it. |

Thinking back to the first day I logged in, going through the neocon tutorials, the only thing I wanted to see was how the game played. I wanted to get boots on the ground and drop a few enemies to see how the game felt. Near what seemed like an eternity of boring crap about a bunch of stuff I didn't understand, I finally got into a match.
Biggest problem with the tutorials is that they tell you what to do.
They don't show you what to do. They don't allow you to experience anything about the gameplay, the fittings, etc. They are basically just dry lectures and I don't really blame a lot of players for skipping them so they can actually start doing stuff.
Would be great if, as you suggested, there was a way to start doing stuff without getting stomped or losing ISK, items, or spending SP on skills.
Virtual battles, certification battles, some step before going into the general instant battles where you could gain your footing. When you feel like you are ready you could say "Yes, I am ready to be a mercenary." Get your starter ISK, your starter SP, and go on to the next stage of battles. |

If people don't like the game then they are welcome to voice their opinion. I know plenty of people who have tried the game and don't like it. their reasons are pretty sound.
I think it is pretty telling that many of the people who defend Dust do so by praising what the game will be, not what it is now.
I am not here to playing the game for what it is. Definitely for what it hopefully will be. And to help make that a reality.
The same thing happens with demo versions of games that are released to the public. A bad demo can turn off a lot of players that might otherwise like the full version of the game.
Part of why I usually never play demosGǪ
But even beyond the "beta" tag, the slow progress in beta so far, and lingering issues that just never seem to get entirely resolved or solved in a satisfactory way, Dust is unlike any game on console that I can think of. Just because it will always evolve. It won't ever be released as a game on a disk, with some DLC.
Any given player's reasons for not liking the game now might not be relevant in a few weeks, months or years. That is the problem with only judging the game based only on what is right in front of you at any given moment.
Take just the changes to the timer on militia grenades. Dust is a totally different game from the days of ye ol' nade blizzard. But I would not have blamed a player for trying out a few matches then and giving up because of the constant grenade spam.
I almost quit a few times myself. But after having seen a number of cycles of similar umm, tweaks to gameplay figured I could just wait it out and it would be changed.
Might be kind of interesting for CCP to load up replication on one of the test servers and let players see just what sort of plrogress has been made. Sometimes it is difficult to judge since evolution of the beta has been so drawn out...
