Is now the best time for us to be Skilling up into our Dropsuits to get our Prototype gear? I've already got my AR operation to level 4 and weaponry to level 5 and shield enhancements to level 3. I think it would be best to take advantage of the current SP system earning 400,000-500,000 SP a week. and get the most expensive skill to level 5 while we still can before CCP drastically reduces the amount of SP earned from matches or reduces the cap. |

I've used the new system already to skill up to advanced Logi dropsuit in a week, so I don't see why not...
Although, I'd suggest skilling shield enhancements to level 4, complex extenders are drastically different from enhanced ones. |

it seems a bit early for people to be using proto gear already, I dunno, it only has been a month since the reset.
I'm not complaining, I've got my ADV suit already, just sayin'. |

what are the 4 primary skills?
If you say shields and mechanics for example, I would say your wrong. Suits out trump them. Then again, I guess it depends on your play style. |

Logi suits don't have any discrepancies in HP of different tiers; thus, Shield Control and Mechanics ought to be very useful for them. But you can also fit, say, 3 complex shield extenders on an advanced Logi suit. I have yet to test out my survivability in a fit like that. |

IMHO: Proto gear is not worth it till you have complex dmg mods, complex shield extenders and complex shield regualtors to fit on them. And to be able to fit all the complex ones, you need circuitry 5 and some CPU lowering skills too. Dont forget important skills like shield control and field mechanics too. Like lvl2 in shield control gives you same as miltia -> adv extenders, but for free, each death..
You can make adv suits as good as proto for less than half the price. The reason why you wanna move to proto suits is the CPU drain of top tier modules and weapons.
Same goes for Duvolle, IMHO not worth it untill top notch fittings: GEK with a complex dmg is almost as good as Duvoll with adv dmg at half the price and same CPU/PG drain.
A well fitted proto suit will cost you 200k per death...
I would generaly say: dont even THINK about proto suits below 3m total SP |

sure on modules like extenders and complex damagers but an assault type 2 out trumps doing the shields SP for 5% and mechanics. Never done a type B but I bet the true is similar in the Shield/ HP gain. Plus you get more CP/ PG so dont need to hit those SP skills to get the gains yet.
Rather spend SP in grenades say than get base level up - for what? to save being hit one or 2 times?
@Ner'zul good point. If i was logi (and esp. a heavy) I would most probably be more interested in increasing the base rate of my suits. |

Moreover, just thought about it, don't base HP skills also increase the base stats of vehicles you call in? I think they might, slightly remember seeing different total HP on my Baloch and someone else's.
If this is true, then base skills should be important for all pilots. But, once again, I may be mistaken. |

The type 2 does me fine ATM.
Once I have maxed that suit out I will start on the higher tiers but I won't be using them unless my team needs the extra firepower. |

Proto-Suit by this weekend I hope... I figured it's better to get it out of the way, it also increases my CPU/PG so why not spend those points into getting a new suit. Everyone has their own way of doing things, none is right or wrong. Some might lead to immediate benefits while others are a bit slower. I made sure to get a head start on it tho which is key.

What's the use of having complex modules if you can't fit them in your suit?
Not to mention, shield enhancements and weaponry are the gateway skills to the most essential modules. Combat engineering, field mechanics are not as necessary as some of the others. |

How much would your Proto suit be worth with nothing but militia modules? Disagree and here's why:
For vehicles, it makes a big difference, for suits...not so much.
Ask yourself what is 5% of my base shield or base armor...? If your base armor is 175, and you add 25% to that, you get 43.75 extra base armor...that is basically two bullets...are you are telling me that 2 bullets are worth 300,000 SP. Shield control is an even bigger discrepancy as it costs what, 1.2M SP for a two bullet boost to your shield.
Heavy T1 and Heavy T2 is a bit of a different story as as your 5% increase is larger due to the large base numbers.
